At some point, Charlie created a large bonfire that everyone sat around while laughing at memories of previous Christmas'. Draco quickly learned that of the Weasley children, Charlie, Fred, George, and Ginny were the closest in personality. Bill seemed to always be the matured one of the siblings, but he knew how to enjoy himself and make his fair share of messes. Charlie was adventurous, but drew his line when it passed harmless jokes. The twins seemed to have popped out of the womb ready to start chaos. Ginny, being the youngest followed Charlie and the twins everywhere. Bill, being significantly older, was not as close to Ginny as the other three were. Ron and Ginny were almost as opposite as night and day and Ginny had quickly surpassed Ron in bravery and cunningness while Ron became a "mommas' boy" as the twins so delicately mentioned. Percy was the furthest from any Weasley sibling and Draco noticed nobody mentioned their brother as if he was an ugly memory nobody wanted to revisit. Draco also realized that Charlie was the most protective of Ginny out of the brothers and she looked up to him the most. The thought was quite reoccurring every time Ginny drunkenly leaned against Draco or placed a hand on his leg causing Charlie to look between Draco and Ginny with an expression Draco couldn't quite read.
Neville, as it turned out, was an enjoyable character to be around. The more Draco was around Neville, the more he realized why the "golden trio" had excluded Neville. He was an upstanding man, though worried about his own character and what others thought of his character. As a drunk man however, Neville's usual guarded and introverted self was laughing as loud as the others, making jokes with Ginny and entertaining the small group with his animated reenactments of the Carrows which sent even Draco in a fit of laughter.
Draco only knew of Angelina for her ruthless quidditch skills on the pitch. Here however, Draco realized that Angelina was carefree, patient and comical person. She defiantly held authority over the twins which she used occasionally to keep them out of dangerous situations, but often joined them in their odd jokes and supported their pranks.
Around one in the morning, Bill retired from the bonfire using the excuse of his old age before skillfully climbing on his broom and heading back to the Burrow. Neville decided to follow Bill knowing his gran would be very upset if he stayed out much later. Angelina, perched on Fred's lap, began charming whips of fire to create small designs as the floated into the sky. Fred charmed a small heart out of the flame earning himself a kiss from Angelina.
"I didn't realize Fred had an ounce of romanticism in him." Ginny told George nodding to the now heavily making out couple.
"Every once in a while he listens to me." George laughed, "I almost invited Katie here."
"Are you guys dating?" Ginny asked slightly shocked. She shouldn't have been shocked, Fred, George, Katie and Angelina were a close friend group during their time at Hogwarts.
"No," George replied hastily, "Well, not yet at least. I wouldn't mind dating her, this just isn't the right time."
"Is there ever a right time?" Ginny asked.
"I just don't want to start a relationship with someone until this is over." George sighed, "Besides, Angelina is enough to keep track of for the time being."
"Just be careful you don't wait too long," Charlie told his brother, "Otherwise you might never get the chance."
"What about you, Charlie? Any special ladies in Romania?" George asked.
"Nobody special. Lots of ladies though." Charlie gave a wink across the fire towards George.
"Now now, nobody likes a show off." George laughed good naturedly.
"I don't want a woman to tie me down." Charlie shrugged.
"Like Bill's?" Ginny supplied with a laugh.
"Oh merlin, I would kill myself if I had to live with her for a day." Charlie laughed at the thought.
"Oh, Bill, I 'ove how you zay 'phlem'!" Ginny gave her best imitation of Flur earning herself chuckles from everyone around the fire.
"How about you, Draco? Any special lady?" Charlie asked turning the conversation to Draco.
"Don't really have time for anyone at the moment." Draco lied effortlessly.
"Hm. That's interesting." Charlie took a casual drink from the bottle that sat next to him.
"That is interesting. And very different from what I heard, isn't that right dear brother?" Fred, now unattached to Angelina with a mischievous grin on his face as he turned to George.
"Oh yes, very interesting. Especially because we heard something entirely different from Bill the other day." George turned to Ginny, "Anything you would like to add, sister dear?"
"I'm going to kill him." Ginny mumbled dropping her head into her hands.
"Before you get your panties in a twist, you should know Bill didn't say anything." Charlie hastily told his sister with a large grin on his face, "I've been thinking there was something between you two since the wedding, I mean it was a little obvious if you were paying attention. Anyway, I asked Bill about it tonight and he just smiled and told me he was sworn to secrecy. Well, it didn't take too long to put two and two together. I am curious though on how Fred and George figured it out."
"Easy." Fred began looking gleefully between the mortified Ginny and the colorless Draco.
"First, we realized that you and Ginny were far to close to be friends since you moved in this summer." George continued from his twin.
"Nothing can get Ginny out of bed early in the summer unless its quidditch-"
"- or a boy."
"But not just any boy."
"Oh, of course not. What kind of boy would it be, Fred?"
"The boy." Fred replied emphasizing 'the' by raising his eyebrows.
"Then we began thinking."
"Why would Draco Malfoy suddenly join the Order?"
"I mean, sure he's got a head on his shoulders and he's obviously not immoral-"
"But there has to be another reason."
"So that's when we started really thinking about it."
"Or maybe we set up a detachable ear to Ginny's running shirt and listened to conversations between you two."
"Not sure which one it was."
"Hard to pinpoint, really."
"You spied on me?" Ginny rounded on the twins.
"No, we were merely testing out our detachable ears."
"They have a 400 mile radius of ear to monitor."
"Its quite impressive magic if you ask me."
"They'll be on the shelves after the New Year."
"But for our sister, we would be willing to put you on an early bird special."
"Oh will you two shut up." Ginny groaned running a hand through her hair.
"We won't tell anyone, promise." Charlie told his sister looking towards his brothers to do the same. The twins used their index finger to draw an 'x' over their heart 'locking' their sealed lips and throwing an imaginary key behind their shoulder.
"Its going to be best for everyone if not many people know about this." Draco told the group solemnly.
"I understand." Charlie smiled encouragingly.
"Nobody was supposed to find out." Ginny added wrapping her arms loosely around her bent legs.
"I'm glad we know." Charlie told his sister, "You know you can always come to us with anything and we will understand and keep it silent."
"I know," Ginny sighed, "But its not like I can just come up to you guys and casually let it drop that I'm dating Draco Malfoy."
"That's true I guess." Charlie chuckled at the thought. "Things are very different now."
"I can't say I would have ever seen this coming, but now that I see you two together, I'm really happy for you. Both of you." Angelina supplemented smiling brightly between Draco and Ginny. Ginny dared a glance at Draco to see him watching her closely as if looking for direction.
She smiled at her boyfriend before answering, "I'm really happy about this too."
"I assume Bill gave you the whole 'if you hurt her we'll kill you' speech." Charlie pulled Draco out of his own thoughts.
"Yes, he did." Draco answered trying to read Charlie's expression to predict the upcoming conversation.
"Good," Charlie's face relaxed into a smile, "Then I don't have to be the bad guy. Welcome to the family mate." Charlie extended his right hand towards Draco who shook it firmly.
"Thank you, Charlie." Draco returned a half smile.
After the confirmation of Ginny and Draco, the group collectively decided to head back to the Burrow. Since Fred had burned the wrapping of the fireworks in the bonfire, Charlie was left to put out the fire while the others found their broomsticks.
"Well, my dearest Angelina," Fred swept his girlfriend into his arms making her giggle slightly, "I am going to proclaim loudly that I will kiss you very passionately so my lovely siblings and Draco have a chance to leave. Quickly." Fred looked pointedly towards the small group as they turned towards the house.
"Don't stay up too late kids!" George called behind him to his brother.
"I should head out too, Happy Christmas everyone." Draco nodded to Charlie, George and Ginny.
"Where are you going?" Ginny asked slightly taken aback.
"I don't want to intrude on your family more than I already have. Christmas morning should be spent with family." Draco explained.
"You're not intruding in the slightest." Charlie told Draco lightly, "Besides, Mum would hang us if we let you spend Christmas morning by yourself."
"Yeah, and Mum still lets this goon into the house." George laughed as Charlie cuffed the back of George's head lightly, "Seriously, you're family, stay the night."
"I'm staying in Ron's room, and I'm pretty sure Mum left out an extra cot from when Harry was staying with us." Charlie told Draco as he and George turned to the kitchen door. Ginny reached for Draco's hand and led up into the house behind his brothers.
