As the last limo drowned away, Alastor buried his face in hands and sight.
- I can't believe I got into the fist fight at my daughter's engagement party! - He massaged his bruised cheek.
- Dad, I get it, it wasn't your fault, the man was just nasty… - Daria reassured.
- My apologies, Tony, my boy! This surely won't happen again!
- Apologizes? For what, man? - He raised his brow. - I haven't had so much fun in ages.
- Huh?
- That's nothing, If you saw Molly's engagement party, back when we were alive. Arachniss and I got so drunk he blew the head of the groom. - He cheerfully giggles at the memory.
- Moll's was so upset she didn't talk to us for a month. I had no idea why, guess she really wanted to be that guy baby factory?
Daria and Alastor were a bit speechless looking at the spider, so he just continued.
- And auntie Black Widow? That one knew how to throw a wedding! She even had an entire graveyard section booked for her and her spouses. - he said. - I think I have her current address, if you need any help with wedding planning, Al. She is a real pro.
- That reminds me… I need to polish my best guns if I don't want to make a fool outta myself during a shooting.
- What shooting? - Alastor hesitates to ask.
- Well, duh, I'm a italian mobster, we know how to party. - he claimed. - You don't expect them to go to my wedding without guns, do you? I would be insulted!
As the spider finished his speech, he turned around on his heel smoothly and waved his hand.
- Anyway, toodles, guys. I'm going back to the hotel for the night. It was a long day and my baby beretta needs some refreshment before our big day!
Angel took a few steps, bowed and kissed Darias' hoof, winking.
He vanished behind the door and Alastor stiffen his posture and hissed by the teeth.
- I think I need to consult Rosie on whether or not you can forbid the whole family of the groom to come to the wedding without breaking rules of etiquette…
As Spider went down the street, he looked at the dark, crimson night sky. He thought about what he just did. Even if he didn't like to admit it his father was right about one thing - soon enough he will be married. Even if that was just a fake marriage, and he will be the one marrying into the rich family, this would still mean a lot of changes in his current life.
Technically they had about a week to call the whole thing off, but after an engagement party like this? Despite the all warm feelings Alastor would have for him, he doubts that stag would just just be cool with the groom that left his precious daughter at the altar.
In fact he was pretty sure that whatever decision they make, his friendship just will never go back to where it was.
Daria was a nice kid too, he would be forever grateful to her if simple "I do" would eliminate Val from his life forever. But that was just too simple. At the same time, he wanted to believe this. In the back of his head he could hear a hurtful whisper that he is going into the path of self destruction once again. That will be nothing new for him, but taking another person along for the ride?
He shaked his head, no, Daria agreed to this, she won't be giving up so they both had to believe in their plan… and they will deal with Al, later. Soften him up… he forgives them in time! It was his own fault for butting in. They have a right to use him...
But then he thought about his own family. This old man had goles to "lecture" him? Those words reminded him of that one time his mom was laying on the floor in front of him… how cold she was... Seeing Alastor beating him was such a katharsis. But he knew it won't be the last time hearing this bullshit if he was about to get married as his father apparently took it as a sign that he is "cured" aka. worth his time.
He approached the vending machine and looked longingly at drugs inside.
He gulped...
This will be the last time…
Just to stop the train of thoughts…
He purchased a medium size bag of cocaine and hid it in his pocket. When he finally arrived at Happy Hotel Vagge and Charlie were already waiting for him.
- Who the fuck are you and what did you do to Angel Dust!? - The grey woman pricked his chin with her spear.
- Charming as always, Vag… - He lowered the spear and tried to proceed to the hallway.
- Angel, what is going on? - Charlie had a worried face. - Why would YOU propose to Daria!?
- My life, my wedding, princess. - He squinted his eyes.
- Hey, is that drugs?! - Vaggie pulled a small bag from his pocket. He quickly swiped it away from her hand.
- You were doing so well, Tony… - Ugh, the sad expression of Charlie was killing him right now. - You said you were trying to go sober...
- Who cares anyway? - he lied. - It's just a small amount… It's not like I'm gonna do it everyday, it's just for my bachelor party. Get lost!
He didn't want to look them in the eyes. Not now, not ever.
He ran to this hotel room. The one that saw it all.
- Angel! - Charlie screamed but he managed to lock the door before she reached him.
The small pig was woken up from his slumber. He took a few steps and licked Tony's face.
- Hi, Fat Nuggets. - He hugged him, the pig cuddled in his arms and oinked.
He looked at the bag again. Since both ladies would have to first go grab the extra keys to take it away from him, it was the last opportunity…
He thought about his father, one he wanted to forget the most. All the memories were suffocating him. Bandages, bruises, scars… back then drugs were the only thing that made him happy… no matter how shitty it got they were by his side to make him forget...
He notices how he doesn't need it as much after the first move to this hotel… first few months without it was a torture, but his body and mind was now calmer than it use to be… a few years back, he woudn't even hessitate after a night like this…
But Daria, Ton-Ton, Al, Niffty, Vaggie, Charlie… heck, even that grump cat in the liquor bar downstairs...
They all care about his stupid life for some reson…
- Screw you, old man...
He got up off the floor and flushed the bag in the toilet.
