Chapter 10
Thanks for 200 views on the story guys :)
Redstripe was lost in thought.
Follow what you believe, and don't shy away from the truth.
It was about now that Redstripe realized what Scorch really meant.
It was indeed quite hard not to shy away from the truth.
Mostly because of what that truth was.
Redstripe had to go back. He had to help Silverstar restore balance to ThunderClan, and yes, he didn't say CringeClan.
He would miss Sparrowfrost so much. So much.
She was expecting his kits.
He would never get to see them grow up.
Sparrowfrost would be in big trouble once her Clan realized who fathered her kits.
But he had to go back.
Silverstar needed him.
All the Clans needed him.
The next day
Sparrowfrost was in a lot of pain. Her kits were coming. There was no medicine cat around to help, but Mathpaw knew the familiar shape of borage leaves, so Redstripe sent him to go get some for when Sparrowfrost needed to feed the kits.
Author's note: I don't really feel like going over the whole kitting process, besides, it's kinda gross, so I'll just skip that.
The kits were beautiful. There were three of them; one was black with ginger splotches, one was a dark gray tabby like Sparrowfrost, and the last one was a red-brown tabby, like Redstripe.
Their names (in the description order above) were Patchkit, Crowkit, and Blazekit. Redstripe was very sad to have to break the news to Sparrowfrost, especially so soon after her kits were born. Redstripe would either have to go alone, or wait for the kits to be old enough to travel.
Follow what you believe.
He couldn't leave yet.
Not now.
"Sparrowfrost, I'm so proud. Of you, and of both of us. These kits couldn't have a better mother," Redstripe purred. Sparrowfrost licked his ear in response.
Mathpaw had collected the borage leaves and was slowly backing away, like he did every time Redstripe and Sparrowfrost got all lovey-dovey.
Mathpaw PoV!
Bored.
He was so bored.
How long am I going to have to stay here? It's like being a prisoner!
Mathpaw hadn't admitted it to the others, but he was tired of being stuck in this weird forest, doing Redstripe and Sparrowfrost's dirty work. It was so boring.
He wouldn't be able to run away, because he promised Redstripe not to go back to the camp and accidentally spill his secret. He didn't want Redstripe to be in trouble.
But it was so boring! And now, with three mewling kits, it was gonna be ANNOYING!
UGH!
Just like he always did on a bad day, Mathpaw found some pizza dangling from a tree, ate it, and went to sleep.
...
He had a dream that night. It was strange, but cool. He was in a room with numbers all over the walls. Mathpaw loved numbers. They used to be part of his training, but he didn't get training now.
Then, just when Mathpaw thought nothing would happen, a StarClan warrior appeared.
"Oh, wow! A real StarClan warrior! I never thought I'd get to see one!" He exclaimed, as the starry tabby warrior took its place in front of Mathpaw.
"Mathpaw. I have a message for you," The warrior meowed, in a voice like the cool breeze of leaf-fall. It was ominously chilling, but Mathpaw didn't want to act like a coward in front of a real StarClan cat.
"Okay, what is it?" Mathpaw asked.
"Redstripe must take Sparrowfrost back to his Clan. Do not tell him this, as he will realize it soon enough. What you must do, is go back on you own. They will figure it out soon enough. Do not worry about them..." The warrior's voice trailed off as he started to fade, and within a heartbeat Mathpaw was back in the unfamiliar, but yet familiar forest, where he reflected on the star-speckled tom's words.
There was no time to waste. Mathpaw needed to go back now.
