AN: GG: Each day will be a better day for the boys, now that they are out of that place. Everyone is there to help them get better!
-
A day was given for the boys to rest and recuperate as best as they could. They never left their room, other than to go to the connected bathroom, but they seemed happier. Their moods had significantly increased since being brought back, and it gave high hopes to everyone.
For the day, Ignis and Gladio had taken some time to stop on by and check how the boys were doing. Currently they stood outside the door before they actually decided to head inside.
Ignis took a deep breath while he cleaned his glasses. "Everyone has been giving good reports on the two of them since they woke up yesterday." He informed Gladio. "Though they have lost a small amount of weight, so I imagine you'll have to adjust your training again."
"I know, I've been trying to reorganize everything. I may need your help. I'm still... still not good with this," Gladio admitted.
"I'll happily help you organize everything. Are you ready to see them now? Or do you want a moment out here still?"
Gladio breathed in deeply. "Better just get it done."
Ignis reached out to squeeze Gladio's arm before he opened the door. "Noct, Prom, it's so good to see you."
Noctis looked up at the door opening before giving his friends a little smile. The dark circles were improving, and he was holding himself a bit looser than the first time. Currently he was trying to teach Prompto a card game and failing.
"Oh," Prompto said. "Uh, hi Ignis. Gladio."
"Hey Specs, Gladio. I see they finally let you visit us." Noctis replied. "Did they decide we're up for visitors finally?"
Ignis tried to not sigh at the question. "They wanted to give you time to rest."
"And it seems you've been resting pretty well," Gladio added.
"We've been trying," Prompto stated. "The bed is so comfy, it feels like air almost."
"Oh, definitely. The bed is great. And all the blankets." Noctis agreed. "Though still not a fan of this." He added while shaking the arm with the IV.
"But you need it," Prompto pouted. "You need to get better!"
"Kid's right," Gladio nodded. "Won't do you any good if you can't recover fully."
Noctis sighed at that. "Alright. Hopefully that will be soon. I'm ready to get out of here."
"You'll be released sooner than you expect I'm sure." Ignis assured them. "But we will happily keep you company if you want it."
"We could all watch a movie or play some games if you two want," Gladio offered as a suggestion.
The offer made Noctis blink slowly before nodding. "A movie sounds nice. Let's do that. This card game is getting nowhere."
"Hey I was trying! But there's soooooo many rules!" Prompto laughed.
Noctis laughed at that. "But yet you can remember all the rules for those games in the arcades," he teased. "Maybe we just need to have someone bring in a console for us."
"Yeah! Have someone bring in an entire arcade machine!" Prompto joked.
"Perhaps not an entire arcade machine, but I could see about bringing the console in Noctis's apartment up for your enjoyment." Ignis offered easily.
Prompto grinned. "Sounds like a good plan!"
"Then I imagine you'll have plenty of items to keep you entertained. Until then, what movie would you like to watch?"
"Why don't you pick one Prompto?" Noctis asked while poking him a little bit.
"Uhh," Prompto hummed. "Something nice and fluffy. OH! Can we watch a movie about chocobos?"
"Of course. I think I have something in mind that can manage that well." Ignis pulled out his phone to start searching for movies.
"Get over here then, so we can watch this together." Noctis whined and tugged on Prompto's wrist easily to get him to curl up with him.
Prompto snuggled up close and rested his head on Noctis's shoulders. "Sounds good."
With a little bit of fiddling, Ignis got a children's movie about a talking chocobo playing for them. Noctis kept a hold of Prompto's hand while they watched to enjoy the sensation.
"Dude," he whispered at some point, "how much of this can you see?"
"What do you mean?" Prompto whispered back.
"You still don't have your contacts. Isn't it hard to see?"
"Oh..." Prompto started. Back when they had been in the first cell, Prompto took his contacts out after the first day. He had seen no point in keeping them in when they didn't even know how they would be getting out, so he had taken them out and thrown them away seeing as he didn't have his case with him.
"It's not so bad. Just a little blurry, but I can still hear it."
Noctis gave his hand a squeeze. "We should get you some more soon." He said softly. "I bet Specs would know the best place to go
"Well I mean, I got some back home, but..." Prompto sighed, trying to bury his face into Noctis's shoulder.
"Hey, you can stay here as long as you want. I've got you." Noctis hushed before he ran his hand carefully through his blond hair. He enjoyed feeling the strands that were soft and clean.
"Yeah, I'll just stay here, where it's safe."
Ignis watched the scene from the corner of his eye before he turned to look at Gladio with a small frown. Gladio gave a stern look back, but the two remained quiet during the rest of the movie. When it was over Gladio stood up and headed towards the door.
"Guess we will check in with you guys later."
"Goodnight Noctis. Prompto. I'll see you soon, with a game console I'm sure." Ignis replied with a smile. "Rest well."
Noctis gave a wave at that. "Will do Iggy. Take care of yourselves."
When Ignis and Gladio were outside the room, Gladio exhaled sharply. "I didn't realize it was that bad."
"I don't think any of us did." Ignis said softly. "No wonder His Majesty had been on a tear."
"This probably will throw a wrench into training, won't it?"
"Oh, most certainly. We have to find a way to work around the codependency before we can even think about getting either one of them in training."
"You really think putting blondie in training would be a good idea?"
"I think so. Help them know they can take care of each other. They clearly are going to be relying on each other for safety, might as well give them the tools they need."
"Guess so," Gladio said as he crossed his arms. "Just seems weird, seeing them like that. You know, they were so scared in those videos, but then together..."
Ignis sighed and took Gladio's hand gently. "Prompto has always had a profound effect on Noctis, even before this happened. It seems that this ordeal only amplified it."
"Hmm," Gladio hummed thoughtfully. "Hopefully it turns out to be more helpful than hindering them."
"I believe that is something we can help with. We can make sure they know how to make it helpful."
"Alright, let's start making plans," Gladio said as they began to walk down the hall.
