This one is long. And again, English isn't my first language, so somethings here didn't make any sense. So I apologize for that.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
...
"…And I just-", Rachel takes another sip of her beer. "I just gave him time to think about all this and I hope he will realize it and call the whole thing off."
"Woah…", the bartender said while cleaning one of the mugs. "You really had one heck of a plan there."
Rachel finished the whole beer and passed it to him.
"Yeah and… I hope he also remembers the thing I said about my feelings for him."
"Well, of course he will! You guys used to date. He will never forget that. He might even have feelings for you too."
"Really?"
"Sure! And I totally agree with the 'rebound' thing you said about that 'Emily'. They got married too fast. I remember my nephew that went through the same thing as Ross. They've only been together for two months and then suddenly out of nowhere, he proposed to her. Somehow the girl he is with, went with the idea. So, they got married, had a boy, and then started to fight about rushing into things, and now got divorced."
"…Wow."
"I know… So, think about this… Ross probably knows better, so he probably wouldn't end up like my nephew." Rachel nodded. "Now, I want you to go to the wedding and see what happens. Ask him about how he feels about you- and don't forget to tell me, because this is one of the most interesting conversations I've had in here."
Rachel sighs.
"I will."
Then Rachel's phone rang. She answered it.
"Hello?"
"Rachel? um… It's Monica."
"Oh, hey Monica, so… how was it?"
"Well, Ross…"
There was a long pause.
"What?"
"…Ross ran off."
Rachel's eyes widened.
"He what?", she said softly.
"I don't know why but… When he was about to say 'take thee, Emily' he said he couldn't do it."
"Wh… So, what's happening now?"
"Well, pretty much the whole crowd is in confusion and in shock. And Emily is… crying."
"Oh my God."
"I know…", she said it the way she says it all the time, but a little scared.
"Um anyway", she continued. "Joey and Chandler are looking for him right now for the past… 20 minutes."
"Okay, hold on. I'm gonna go there."
"Okay, great. See ya."
She hung up.
Rachel grabs her bag and pays the bartender.
"Thank you so much."
"No problem. And good luck with you and Ross!", he said.
Then Rachel left the pub.
…
The doors swing open.
Joey and Chandler came rushing in.
"Ross?!"
They saw Ross packing up his things in a hurry.
"Ross, what are you doing?", Joey asked.
"I just- I can't do this."
"Why?!"
"Hey, have you even realized what I've been doing? I've only met her for a few weeks, proposed to her, then got married in a month. And how would you feel if your ex-girlfriend tells you that she still loves you on your wedding day with another woman?"
"Am… Am I in a movie right now?", Chandler asked while looking around.
"This whole thing is my fault."
"No, it's not.", Joey said.
"Yes, it is!"
"Okay!", Joey said with his hands up.
"Look…", Ross stopped packing. "I've spent my entire life looking for the perfect woman and… I always seem to fail. And I thought this one would be different, y'know? But I didn't even think twice and I suddenly proposed to her." He looked down. "But then I realized…"
He sat down on a nearby chair.
"None of them ever compared to Rachel."
…
Rachel entered the church.
Everyone was chatting about what just happened.
Monica ran to Rachel.
"Rachel! Oh, thank God."
"Hey, Mon. Ross is not here yet?"
"No."
Mrs. Waltham walked by while on the phone.
"Your friend, Phoebe, wants to talk to you."
She gave it to Rachel.
"Hello? Ph-Pheebs?..."
"What the hell were you thinking?!"
"Phoebe… relax, okay?"
"Relax?! You just messed with Ross' head and now you scared him and ran away."
"He did the right thing."
"Running away in the middle of getting married? Oh yeah, that IS the right thing to do.", she said sarcastically.
"Look, Ross didn't know what he was thinking. And now he knows that he was wrong."
…
"So, this is it? You're just gonna not marry Emily?", Chandler asked.
"I guess so…"
"So, you're getting back together with Rachel?"
Ross sighed.
"Dude… I wanna ask you… Do you love Rachel again?", Joey asked.
"I'm afraid… I am."
"But dude, you're just gonna abandon Emily like that?"
"No! I'm—", Ross stood up. "What I'm saying is… I'm not abandoning her. I need more time to think about this I mean… I love Emily but… The time Rachel said she still loves me I… I just realized I let go of her with this other woman that I just met and immediately married. That… I was just trying to get over her."
Silence.
"But… What if it won't work out again?" Joey and Chandler looked down. "What if I'm just making a huge mistake and I'll regret it for the rest of my life?"
"Hey, it's gonna work out.", Chandler said sincerely.
"But you guys know that Rachel and I have been on again off again, y'know? And… I don't know maybe Emily IS the right person. And that I won't have to go through anything that will hurt me again…"
"But maybe you won't have to go down that road again.", Joey said. "Wh-What if you guys realized you are meant to be together and finally not wanting to let go, even if some things are the reason for you guys to break up."
"Yeah, and you better choose… Emily, a british girl you're gonna have for the rest of your life with no problems whatsoever... or Rachel, a girl you loved for more than a decade and that you would give your relationship another chance."
Ross sighed.
Another silence.
Chandler checked his watch.
"So… what are you gonna do now?", Joey asked.
"Yeah, and I really need to go because me and Monica have to plans to… go places.", Chandler nervously said.
"Well… I guess… I guess I'll talk to Emily."
…
The church is now empty.
Everybody left to their houses knowing that the wedding is already ruined.
Joey kept strolling around London's tourist sites and probably bought a shirt and a few keychains.
Monica and Chandler stayed at Chandler's room... well… doing it.
But Rachel went to the Ross and Emily's suite to talk to Ross.
She saw that the door was slightly opened.
She took a look through the small gap and saw Ross and Emily talking and after a while, they hugged.
Her heart broke.
She was too late.
…
Tell me what you think!
