A small group of us walked downstairs to go see Izuku while they cleaned up the ring. The group consisted of me, Uraraka, Iida, and Tsu. Iida and Uraraka pushed open the door.
"Midoriya!"
We all walked in, All Might was standing next to the bed.
"Are you okay?" Uraraka paused when she saw All Might. "Oh, it's nice to meet you, sir."
"Uh yeah." All Might seemed a little awkward.
"He's in no state for visitors." Recovery Girl said.
"Hey you guys," Izuku murmured. "Shouldn't you be watching the matches?"
"The stage was far too damaged. They're taking a quick break to repair it now." Iida explained.
I walked over to Izuku's side. "I don't know what you were thinking. Egging Todoroki on. Once he used his fire there was almost no chance you could win." I sighed. "What am I going to do with you? You could have been killed."
"Now you're just rubbing salt in his wounds," Tsu said behind me.
I reached over and brushed a curl from Izuku's face. "I want to hear everything when you're healed."
"Okay," he winced.
"You're much too noisy. I know you're worried but I've got to focus on surgery now—"
"Surgery?!" They cut Recovery Girl off.
"Go on get out of here." She ushered us toward the door.
I turned to All Might. "Will he be okay?"
All Might sighed. "We'll have to see. His bones are shattered."
"Will there be permeant damage?" I looked back at Izuku.
"Possibly."
"I see," I brushed Izuku's cheek. "Promise me you'll get better."
"I promise." He smiled.
"You too Chino, out."
I nodded and left. Just before the door closed behind me I heard Izuku.
"I'm sorry,"
I glanced back, he was looking up at All Might. I looked back down, I shouldn't have chided him. He was probably blaming himself for losing. I knew that in reality he just wanted to help Todoroki. Exactly why he wanted to help Todoroki, I didn't know. I sighed, there was nothing I could do about it now. I walked back up to the stands, the rest of the group except Iida was already there. I sat down beside Katsuki and leaned against him.
"What's wrong?" He murmured.
"It's Izuku. He needs surgery and even then there may be permeant damage."
He didn't answer. I closed my eyes, I was still tired from my fight. My shoulder still hurt even after the pain meds. I wanted to fall asleep, Katsuki was warm and smelled sweet. I felt myself drifting off. I tried to fight it, I wanted to see these matches. I should support my friends. I started to sit back up but Katsuki pulled me back down.
"Katsu?" I looked up at him.
"You're tired aren't you? From your double move? So sleep."
"But the matches? I need to take notes and support my friends." I tried to sit back up.
"I'll take notes if it means that much to you." Katsuki pulled me back. "If your friends really care about you they'd want you to be at your best."
"But—"
He turned and whispered in my ear. "Sleep. I don't care."
I shivered at the sensation, my ear twitched and hit him in the face. "Sorry,"
He grunted but didn't move.
"Hey Katsu?" I murmured.
"What?"
"Can you really take notes for me?" I looked up at him.
"Yeah sure, whatever." He grabbed my notebook. "Quirks and how they use them."
I smiled. "Yeah and weakness if possible."
"Yeah, yeah I got it. Just got to sleep."
I hummed and closed my eyes. I really was tired. Before I knew it, I was asleep.
"Oi Neko,"
I groggily opened my eyes. "What?"
"I have to leave," Katsuki pushed me off him.
"Why?" I whined.
"Cause I have a match."
"What?" I sat up, awake now.
"Yeah, you slept through two matches. Well, almost two." Katsuki stood up. "I waited as long as possible."
"Yeah sorry," I stretched. "You could have woken me up sooner."
Katsuki didn't answer, instead, he threw my notebook at me. "I took as many notes as I could. The match was over quickly."
"Thanks," I smiled at him. "Good luck with your match. You know about Kirishima's quirk, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, I fought you. I know how it works." He watched me then glanced towards the corridor.
I cocked my head. Did he want me to follow him? I started to stand up.
"Ashido is out of bounds! Tokoyami will advance!"
"Shit," Katsuki cursed. "I gotta go."
"Good luck!" I smiled.
He turned and ran off. I bit my lip, he needed to stretch and get ready but I kept him here. I opened my notebook and looked at the notes scrawled in his handwriting.
'Four eyes used his fast speed, stalls after use'
'Acid doesn't work against dark shadow'
The notes were simple and to the point. If these two matches were like the rest then they were over quickly. I looked back to the ring, Katsuki and Kirishima were headed to the middle. I wondered how Kirishima would do against Katsuki's quirk. Kirishima had fought me before but Katsuki had a different fighting style and was stronger. Then again Kirishima had gotten stronger.
"Ready? Begin!"
Kirishima struck first, Katsuki countered with an explosion. Their fighting styles were pretty similar. Neither of them used their legs, they just threw punches or explosions. Kirishima almost landed a punch, narrowly missing Katsuki's face. Katsuki countered by exploding Kirishima's side.
"He countered!" Present Mic cried.
Kirishima laughed. "Nice try but that's not gonna work on me explosion boy!"
I grinned at the nickname. Kirishima was still standing, Katsuki steadied himself for another explosion. No matter how many explosions Katsuki threw at Kirishima, he stayed standing. Kirishima switched to the offensive, pushing Katsuki back toward the line.
"Bakugou's having a heck of a time fighting back against Kirishima's fierce attacks!"
Katsuki tried to switch back to the offense but Kirishima hardened against the explosions. I could see Kirishima tiring. Katsuki threw another explosion at Kirishima's side.
"Bakugou is countering again! But what's this? It seems to be working this time." Present Mic seemed surprised.
"You've been straining to keep your body rock hard this whole fight, right?" Katsuki grinned. "That means you're overusing your quirk and sooner or later you'll fall apart!"
Katsuki used one large explosion to disorient Kirishima. Then he used multiple explosions back to back then one last blast to knock him out. Kirishima collapsed.
"Kirishima has been knocked out. Bakugou is the winner!" Midnight called.
"With that vicious carpet-bombing Bakugou advances to the third round! Ladies and Gentlemen, the final four!"
I grinned. Katsuki made it to the third round. There was no doubt in my mind he would make it to the final.
"Deku," Uraraka called.
I looked up, Izuku was slowly making his way down to the front row.
"Hi Midoriya," Tsu said. "It looks like your surgery went okay."
"Yeah," Izuku nodded. "Recovery Girl healed me up enough to walk."
"Sure but shouldn't you be taking it easy?" Uraraka asked.
Izuku sat down. "I wanna watch these matches in person. This is where everyone's efforts are finally gonna pay off."
I leaned forwards, resting on the seatback. "I'd offer my notes but I fell asleep."
"Oh yeah!" Uraraka turned around. "You and Bakugou looked so cute together!"
I flushed, ears laid back. "It was an accident. I didn't mean to fall asleep on him."
"Are you sure?" Mina suddenly leaned over. "Cause he looked pretty content, plus he was taking notes for you."
"Well—he—we—" I struggled to find the correct words. I was saved by the buzzing of my phone. I quickly opened the message.
Cat-suki:
Meet me in waiting room one
I stood up. "I've actually got to go. Hey, Izuku, take some notes for me please."
"Oh uh sure," Izuku nodded.
"Thanks," I smiled and headed inside.
I made my way to the waiting room. Katsuki was stilling at the table, eyes closed. I quietly closed the door behind me.
"Hey Katsu," I murmured.
He looked up. "Neko,"
I made my way to his side. "You saved me."
"What do you mean?" He kicked a chair out for me.
I sat down. "Mina was questioning me. About me falling asleep on you."
"It's none of her business." He scoffed.
"I know," I leaned against the table. "But she's curious."
"Well, she needs to not be."
I hummed and laid my head on the table. Katsuki sighed and poked me.
"Hey idiot, I called you down here to talk not to sleep."
"Talk or kiss me?" I didn't open my eyes, tail twitching lazily.
"Depends. If you fall asleep I can't do either."
I cracked my eyes. "Wake me with a kiss?"
"You're an idiot,"
I felt his breath against my face. I hid a smile. I felt his hand slide down my side. I tensed slightly. His fingers dug in and I yelped. I pulled away, laughing.
"Katsuki, Katsuki, stop please!"
"This is payback," he grinned.
"No, no, I'm sorry please, Katsuki." I gasped.
He leaned down. "Why should I?"
"Katsu, I said please," I whined.
"Come on, you can do better than that." He purred.
"Katsu, please I'll do anything," I begged.
"Anything?" He got close to my face.
"Yes!" I said through laughter.
"Kiss me,"
I didn't hesitate, I slipped a hand into his hair and pulled him down. His fingers went slack and instead he held me close. He pulled away after a moment, resting his head against mine.
"Shouldn't you be stretching?" I murmured.
"Probably," his voice was low and soft.
"Then shouldn't you be doing that?" I touched my nose to his.
He scrunched his face up. "I guess."
I pulled myself out of his grip. "I'll just stay here and you can stretch. You're up against Tokoyami this time."
"I know that," he finally backed away.
"You're going to need to use stun grenade at least once." I pulled my legs up onto my chair.
"Stun grenade?" He echoed, beginning to stretch.
"Yeah, Dark Shadow is weak to light." I laid against the table.
"Of course,"
We fell silent, I watched him stretch. I massaged my shoulder, it was beginning to ache. After a few moments, he straightened. I sat up.
"Are you going to head up?"
"Yeah, the match should be over soon." He walked over to my side.
"What do you want? A good luck kiss?" I grinned. "I thought you didn't need luck."
He glared at me. "Fine, I'll just leave."
"Katsu," I whined and grabbed his wrist.
"What? Why are you whining?" He smirked.
"Don't leave yet." I pouted.
"Does the kitty want a kiss?" He leaned closer.
"Yes please," I purred.
"No," he grinned and pulled away.
I gaped at him. "Katsuki!"
He laughed and walked out the door. I stood up, knocking my chair over. I followed him out the door. He glanced back at me and smirked.
"Katsuki!" I tackled him and pushed him against the wall.
He looked surprised for a moment then smirked. I glared up at him.
"You can't just leave your girlfriend without a kiss." I frowned.
"I can and I will," he pushed against my hands.
"Katsu," I tightened my grip. "Please,"
"Well since you asked so nicely…" he leaned down. "No," he pushed me off and continued walking.
I stood there flabbergasted. "Katsuki, you can't just do that!"
"I can and I will," he repeated.
I chased him down again and pulled him to me. I grabbed his face and kissed him. It wasn't a rough or hard kiss, just a simple, chaste kiss. I pulled away slowly.
"Took you long enough."
I opened my eyes. "What?"
"I was waiting for you to do that." He smirked.
"Wait you did that all on purpose?" I gaped.
"Of course," his smirk slid into a grin.
"Katsuki!" I smacked him lightly.
He laughed. "It worked."
I glared at him. "It was mean."
"I never said I was nice." He pressed his forehead against mine.
"I hate you," I tried to sound angry.
"No, you don't." He kissed me.
I melted into him. He was right, I could never hate him. That was the problem, I loved him so much. The villain knew that and they extorted it. They used him to get to me. Katsuki pulled away.
"What's wrong?"
I looked up at me. "What do you mean?"
"You stopped kissing me." He looked concerned. "Was it that bad?"
"What? No, no," I quickly shook my head. "It's not that. Something else entirely."
"Are you sure?" He ran a thumb across my cheek.
"Yes, I promise. This has nothing to do with your kissing skills, although they do need some work." I hid a smile.
"Neko!" He hit me gently.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" I laughed. "Weren't you headed up?"
"You distracted me," he hit me again. "Now I'm leaving."
"Good luck," I kissed him lightly.
"I don't need luck." He smirked.
I pushed him away. "Yeah right. Get going."
He brushed my cheek then turned and headed towards the stadium. I stood in the empty hallway for a moment then headed back up to the stands. The moment I got back Mina pounced on me.
"There you are! You missed the entire match!"
"Did I?" I brushed her off. "Katsuki and I were talking strategy."
"Sure," she wiggled her eyebrows. "Sure you were."
I forced myself to stay calm. "We did."
I went to my seat and sat down. Izuku turned around.
"I got some notes if you want to look at them."
"Sure, maybe after we can compare notes."
"And now Bakugou verses Tokoyami!"
I looked over at the arena. Katsuki and Tokoyami were already standing across from each other. This match would be over quickly.
"Ready? Begin!"
Katsuki was the first to attack immediately putting Tokoyami on defense. He hurled explosion after explosion at Dark shadow.
"Bakugou's rush is unstoppable!"
"That thing is so damn annoying." Katsuki ran around Tokoyami's side but dark shadow blocked him again. "Die! Loser!"
I knew Katsuki was getting frustrated. He hit dark shadow with another big explosion. I could see dark shadow weakening slightly. He continued the barrage of explosions.
"Tokoyami has advanced this far with an almost unbeatable quirk but this time it looks like he's on the ropes."
"What is that bird brain doing? He attacked super hard when he was up against us." Mina complained.
"There must be a reason," Yaoyorozu murmured.
"Dark shadow, he can't go on the offensive cause of all the light," Uraraka said. "This match-up couldn't be any worse."
"Most people don't know about his weakness," Izuku added. "Kacchan may not have figured it out yet."
"Oh he knows," I couldn't help the small smirk on my lips.
"You told him?" Izuku spun around. "But how did you know?"
"One, it's my job to know anything and everything about quirks. Two, it's in his name. Dark Shadow. Dark. The opposite of light." I shrugged. "It makes sense to me."
Katsuki launched himself up in the air and hit dark shadow with another big blast.
"Grab him, dark shadow!" Tokoyami yelled.
Dark shadow reached for Katsuki but he dodged just in time.
"Whoa, Bakugou leaps behind Tokoyami!"
Katsuki landed and held his hands out. "Stun grenade!"
A flash of light filled the arena followed by smoke. I leaned forward slightly but I couldn't see anything. The blast was less intense up here than when I had used the move myself.
"How am I supposed to commentate when I can't see? What's happening?" Present Mic asked.
The smoke began to clear and I could see Katsuki had Tokoyami pinned.
"Tokoyami gives up!" Midnight called. "Bakugou's the winner of this match!"
Katsuki got up and rubbed his arm. He looked up at the stands toward us, toward me. I smiled. He was looking for me.
"That means our final fight will be between Todoroki and Bakugou."
Katsuki looked away from me and glanced around the stadium. He must have spotted Todoroki.
"Man what a bummer, poor Tokoyami." Uraraka murmured.
"I totally thought the bird would win for sure," Sero said.
"I guess that means his quirk's not invincible after all." Kaminari agreed.
"So light is his weakness, interesting. And Bakugou is the kind of guy who would exploit that." Kirishima said to himself.
"I wonder what this match will be like besides intense." Izuku looked up at the screens.
"What? Like that match between you and Todoroki?" I leaned forward. "I'm still waiting on an explanation."
"Right," Izuku glanced away. "Um,"
"You'll have to take notes for next time." Iida walked up.
"Iida," Izuku looked over at Iida.
Suddenly Iida started vibrating. Izuku and Uraraka freaked out.
"It's just my phone," Iida pulled his phone out of his pocket. "I have to take this," he disappeared in the hallway.
I stood up and stretched. "I wonder if they're gonna give the contestants any break time."
"Why so you can go visit Bakugou again?" Mina teased.
"No!" My ears laid back. "I just wanted to make sure they had some time to rest."
"Mmm hmm, sure Koneko, sure." Hagakure said from beside me.
"Gah!" I jumped back. "What the heck?"
The girls burst out laughing, along with a few of the boys. I flushed.
"You know what, maybe I will go visit Katsuki, you guys are being mean." I turned and walked down the hallway.
"Aw come on Koneko!" Mina called.
I ignored her and headed down toward the waiting room. I ran into Katsuki before I made it down. He caught me and held me close.
"Hey," I smiled.
"Hey, I don't have long." He pressed his forehead to mine.
"You actually have to stretch this time." I kissed him lightly.
"I will." He murmured.
I ran my hands down his arms, massaging as I go. I felt him relax under my touch. I vaguely heard footsteps but Katsuki was putty in my hands so I didn't want to move. Katsuki looked up and froze. I turned around, Todoroki was paused in the hallway. I flushed, Todoroki was the first to catch us.
"Todoroki—" I started.
"I didn't see anything," he continued walking quickly.
"Oi half and half!" Katsuki growled. "Get back here."
He chased Todoroki down the hallway, I chuckled.
"Save it for the match!" I called.
I heard a muffled explosion. Well, nothing I can do about it. Katsuki will just beat him up in the end either way. I shrugged and headed back up the stairs. The match was about to start soon.
