"So, now we're going to have dinner with your dad. Should I be nervous?" Prompto asked.

"Were you nervous having lunch with him just now?" He asked back. "It'll be a lot the same. But just in a dining room."

"I mean he just kind of came in and sat down, I wouldn't say that's 'having lunch with us'. But I was still totally nervous on the inside! Didn't you feel it?"

"I thought it was mine." He whispered. "He doesn't usually do that with me."

"Well it was me who was nervous. Having the king just drop in at any moment! That's just crazy!"

"Well, welcome to living in the Citadel, and being with me. That happens a lot." He replied, trying to not feel worried about how Prompto would take that new reality being with him would mean.

"Guess I better get used to it, yeah?" Prompto asked as he snuggled closely.

Noctis smiled and lifted his arm to pull him in close. "Just watch out, Iggy will end up giving you etiquette lessons whether you like it or not."

"Aw man, even more lessons. Do I gotta learn how to walk with books on my head next?" Prompto laughed.

"Do you want to? I didn't have to, but I'll be sure to suggest it to him."

"Nooooo," Prompto shouted in exasperation. "I don't wanna do that!"

Noctis laughed at that. "Alright, then I won't ask him to do that. He'll have his own ways to teach you everything."

"Alright sounds good to me."

Noctis and Prompto finished up their lunch in the garden before they had to go back to their lessons that afternoon. Afterwards, and driven by the success of Regis's advice, they went to practice magic for a bit before they had to get ready for dinner with the King.

Noctis did his best to ask calm and collected as they went to the dining room he was used to seeing his dad in, so he could help give some strength to Prompto for this new situation in his life.

"So it's just okay to wear casual clothes when having dinner with the king?"

"Yeah? I do it all the time? And he's already seen what you're wearing, and he was fine with it." He assured him.

Prompto squeezed Noctis's hand. "Okay, if you say so."

"I say so. I'll make it a royal decree if you'd like."

"You'd do that for me?"

"Of course. If I'd make you feel better about things."

"Geez thanks Noct," Prompto said with a smile. "That really means a lot."

Suddenly the doors opened and Regis walked in, heading towards his seat at the other end of the table. "Good evening boys."

"Hey Dad. I see the Council didn't eat you whole today." Noctis said with a little smile.

"I made sure to get out before they could start gnawing at my ankles," Regis laughed as he sat down.

"That's good to know. I don't know how you manage to deal with them all the time. School is terrible enough."

"Who says I manage?" Regis winked. "Even I want to just have a day off and relax. Clarus could tell you about the time I grew bored in a meeting and started making paper airplanes."

Noctis leaned forward in his seat while his eyes grew wide. "You have to tell us, please. when did this happen and what happened?"

"Ooh a few years ago. It was doing an agriculture meeting," Regis said, learning forward on the table. He began to tell his tale before the food was brought and set down before them.

A fist was shoved into Noctis's mouth to keep him from laughing too hard at the story and stopping his dad from talking. Finally, when Regis stopped talking, Noctis allowed himself to laugh freely. "Oh heavens, that is fantastic. I never knew Clarus could do that. I hope one day Gladio could do that for me."

"No harm in asking him right?" Prompto asked.

"If he will make paper airplanes to distract me during an agriculture meeting? or if he can make paper airplanes?" Noctis laughed.

"Yes," Prompto answered in a deadpan tone.

Noctis scowled a little bit and poked his boyfriend in the side. "Are you volunteering to make my paper airplanes? I will hold you to that."

"I would love to make some paper airplanes," Prompto replied.

"I think it's a wonderful idea. Maybe all three of us could do it one day," Regis suggested. "As a father and son, and son's boyfriend bonding experience."

The statement made Noctis flush some. "Yea? Alright, you say that, just don't kill me if it actually happens in a meeting." He laughed.

"it certainly would make them more fun than I remember." Noctis laughed in response to the offer from Prompto.

Prompto was blushing as well. "Sounds like it could be fun."

Noctis leaned into his boyfriend's side to pull him in close. "I think you'll be great, especially with that arsenal."

"Well let's plan for a day then" Regis said. "But for now let us enjoy our meal together."

"Okay, if you insist. Anything you want to talk about from your meetings?"

"What I have to go through each day isn't interesting. What I want to know about is how you are doing, more about yourselves than about your magic training," Regis answered.

The response made Noctis give a snort of laughter. "I mean, I didn't really have much magically training this afternoon?" He said.

"But what about the two of you," Regis smirked. "Any dates planned for the future?"

Noctis looked over at Prompto to try and get a better stability. "I mean, we are- spring will be better for us."

"Y-Yeah," Prompto admitted softly. "The weather will be nice then."

"I look forward to hearing about them," Regis chuckled.

"If you're sure? I doubt they'd be that interesting. I was thinking just, nice dinner, or going to the arcade when it's allowed again."

"All that matters is that I see you two happy. Speaking of, Noctis, didn't you have something you wanted to tell Prompto," Regis said with a wink.

Noctis looked at his father for a moment, blinked, before smiling widely. "Oh, you- Prompto, I've got something for you."

"Huh? Something other than an amazing gourmet meal?"

"Yeah, something I've owed you for a while. It's a replacement for something that was taken." He confessed. He reached over and made some grabby hands at his dad.

Regis smiled as he pulled a box out of the armiger and handed it to Noctis.

"Thanks." Noctis said and took the box. He trusted his father to not bother double checking the contents before handing it over to Prompto. He knew the earrings and bracer would be in there.

"Here, like I promised a while ago. Just for you."

Prompto studied the box carefully, seeing that it had intricate skull designs detailed into it.

Carefully he opened his, his eyes beginning to widen. He quickly placed the box on the table and pulled out the first item, which was the skull themed wristband.

"This... this is..." he fumbled over his words. "It's so much cooler than a ragged sweatband."

"I thought so too. And you can show off how cool you are."

Prompto smiled warmly, blush creeping into his cheeks. "This is uber cool."

Noctis smiled back at him. "There should be something else in there." He urged.

"Huh? Something else? What else could there..." Prompto stopped when he stared back into the box. "Omg... no way..."

"Told you I would do it." Noctis just managed to suppress his laughter at the face Prompto made. "We'll have to find someone to pierce your ears."

Prompto's eyes began to water. He reached up, trying his best to wipe away his tears.

Etiquette be damned, Noctis would not allow Prompto to cry. He quickly got out of his chair to cup his cheek. "Prom, love, what's wrong? Did I go overboard?"

Prompto shook his head lightly. "No you didn't! It's all fine and I really love it. It's just... I still can't believe it. Do I really deserve all this?"

Noctis gave him a little smile before leaning in to give him a quick kiss. "You deserve this and so much more." He said softly.

Prompto clung on to Noctis's side. "Thank you Noct. Thank you for this."

"You're welcome. I can't wait to see you wearing them." He said softly.

Prompto blushed. "I can't wait either. I am going to be the most stylish boyfriend aren't I?"

"I'd like to think so." Noctis laughed. "And I'll do what I can to make sure of it."

Reaching forward, Prompto ran his hand through Noctis's hair. "You're the best, Noct. I love you so much."

"I love you too." He said softly. "Are you alright to eat now?"

"O-Oh! I completely forgot we were suppose to eat!"

"It's okay, this was far more important."

Prompto turned to finally eat his meal when he noticed that Regis was still sitting at the other end of the table. His face began to redden even more. "Oh crap... I forgot your dad was even here..."

Noctis turned to look at his dad and point at him. "No, don't say a word." He accused while moving back to his seat.

Regis chuckled. "My lips are sealed."

"Good. And, thank you, for helping me with that." Noctis added a bit softer.

"Of course. Now! Let us enjoy this meal! Both with son and future son-in-law."

Noctis knew his face was a bright red at that, but he couldn't even find a way to argue the point, and he didn't want to. So he just focused on his dinner to try and forget his embarrassment.

The there of them ate dinner without any more interruptions. Soon enough dinner was brought out. Fancy little cake slices were placed before each of them.

"Thank you Dad for dinner. This was really nice." Noctis said softly. "We should- we should do this more often."

"Yeah! Thank you, Regis. This wasn't as scary as I thought!" Prompto replied with a laugh.

Regis smiled at his future son-in-law fondly. "I'm glad to hear that. Then, I hope you join Noctis in his future family dinners. Those invitations will always include you."

"Thank you again," Prompto nodded.

"And please," Regis grinned. "You may call me 'dad' if you so wish."

"I think he enjoys hearing that, so please do it." Noctis stage whispered to Prompto.

Prompto's face was burning red by this point. "He's so insistent about it!" he whispered back.

"That's the way he is. He's like, the perma-dad."

Prompto laughed. "Yeah, you're right about that." He looked up at Regis and smiled. "Thank you... dad." His eyes were beginning to water after the words left his mouth.

Noctis reached over the table to try and grab Prompto's hand at his broken voice. He wished to give him some comfort at the obviously awkward situation. "Thank you dad," he finally said softly.

Regis stood up as he nodded. "I suppose I should let you two have your alone time. Thank you again for your time." With that Regis headed out of the room.

For a moment, Noctis let the silence settled around them. Then he hurried back around to wrap an arm around Prompto. "How're you feeling? Did you really like your presents? I can't wait to see your ears pierced."

"I really do like them. I just totally didn't expect to be showered with gifts today and to have a another fatherly figure."

"Well, Dad seems determined to make you another son. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps up with that until we're married."

"M-Married?!" Prompto sputtered. "So soon?"

Noctis lunged over to wrap Prompto to his arms. "No, not anytime soon. At least not till we graduate. he's just. . . He had opinions about us."

"He's really accepting? Like really really?"

"Trust me, if he didn't like something I'm doing, you'd know it immediately." Noctis assured him. "he's very happy about us."

"Nice to know that the king will back us up. You know, if we like uh, ever go p-public about this. I'm sure no one will argue with him."

"I doubt many would want to argue against him. They would be rather foolish to challenge him."

"And us too right? We'll stand up for each other?"

"Yes, I'm here for you no matter what. No one is allowed to belittle you." Noctis nearly hissed.

Prompto smiled happily. "Good! And I'll protect you as well."

Noctis looked up at Prompto with a smile. "I know you will. For now, we just have to get through a bunch of annoying paperwork to show the world."

"I'll go through all that ugly paperwork if it means being with you for the rest of my life," Prompto said softly.

"Same. You're worth all the paperwork and councils so we can be together."

"Glad to hear it."

"Come on, I want to see that wrist band on you, and we need to schedule your ear piercing. Think we can surprise Iggy and Gladio?"

"Sure! I think it would be fun."
