Authors Notes:

This takes place in an AU where Harry Potter has finished schooling at Hogwarts, is now of 20 years of age, and has had enough of the fantastic world of magic. About 6 months prior, a group of dark wizards who were former students, exposed Hogwarts to the muggle world. Of course, this was extremely bad leading thousands of wizards to go into hiding. Everything was compromised. The muggles felt something such as an inferiority complex and became quite hostile towards any wizards who were brave or stupid enough to expose themselves. This almost always ended up in someone dying. More often than not, the wizard being riddled with bullet holes. Obviously, this caused those of more sound mind to blend in with society.

Of course, there are also the dark wizards who are being careful and hunting down muggles and killing them and performing illegal experiments and tests on other defeated wizards. This upset the balance of power horrifically.

This is where we start our story, with Harry Potter attempting to take up a job to gain muggle currency to further adapt to the muggle life.

Chapter 1: Interview

Harry Potter put on a nice pair of slacks and a rusty red turtleneck sweater. Not too casual, yet not too formal. Perfect for the job he was applying for. He applied online for a position at his local McDonald's. He thought it would be a pretty good choice seeing as how many of the reviews said that they hired practically anybody. The lady who called him on the telephone asked that he meet at the restaurant for an in-person interview.

The restaurant was just a couple blocks down from the apartment that one of his wizard friends allowed him to dwell in. His friend had been working in the muggle world for quite some time and had connections of his own.

He entered the restaurant and looked around. It was mostly empty as it was the magic time between breakfast and lunch. Harry walked up to a lady in the back with a laptop and several sheets of paperwork. This must be the lady who was to conduct the interview.

"Excuse me ma'am," Harry said once he approached the table, "I was called in for a job interview. Am I at the right place?"

The lady looked up and adjusted her thin spectacles. She closed her laptop and focused on Harry.

"What is your name?" She asked tertly.

"My name is Harry Potter." Harry said.

"Please take a seat Harold." The lady said straightening the paperwork in front of her.

"It's just Harry." Harry replied as he sat down. The lady didn't seem to hear him and proceeded to start with the interview. She cleared her throat. It was a dry sound as if there wasn't actually anything to clear but as if she did it just to make a point.

"First off," she started, "why do you want to work at our organization?"

"Well," Harry said straightening his posture, "I was researching on the internet and found that this was the best place to start my career." In translation, it was a pretty easy entry-level job to get into. This seemed to satisfy the employer.

"Very well," she said continuing to the next question, "what would you consider your biggest weakness?" Harry thought for a quick moment.

"I would say that my biggest weakness would be that sometimes I help other people too much when I should be helping myself." Harry said trying to phrase it so it sounded more like a strength than a weakness.

"Ok, and what would you consider your best strength?" She said.

"I think that my greatest strength would be that I work very well with other people." She seemed to accept this answer.

"I have just a few more questions before we can move on. What would you do if an angry customer confronted you about something that was not your fault?"

"I would redirect the conversation over to one of my superiors to deal with appropriately." Harry replied.

"Very good." She said quietly, almost as if to herself.

"Well," she said as she stood up, "you're hired Mr. Potter." She stooped down and wrote several things on a slip of paper. She then handed the paper to Harry who read it over. It showed when he would first arrive at work and her phone number for if he ever were to contact her.

He then told her his muggle clothing sizes for his uniform and then walked back to the apartment. It would be quite the experience working at a muggle fast-food joint but it should be interesting. Harry looked forward to it.
