"You're Katrina!" Dreamer realizes. "Well, not this Earth's Katrina."
"What do you mean by 'this earth'?" I ask.
"You've never heard of the multiverse theory?" Dreamer asks.
"I have!" Nix exclaims.
"There are many universes," a brown-haired man explained. "They're all linked together by the planet Earth occupying the same point in space, but they vibrate at different frequencies. By altering vibrational frequencies at a given point, we can travel between the different universes."
"That's pretty cool," eleven-year-old me remarked. "Have you ever been to the Star Warsuniverse?"
"I... I think I remember," I realize. "What did this earth's me do exactly to result in this?"
"There was a Crisis," Dreamer replies. "Many earths were destroyed. In the aftermath of destruction, the destroyed earths were reborn as one Earth. Katrina Kent was one of the few people left unchanged. She'd been through a lot, and she was so powerful and so smart that we forgot how young she was. We didn't try as hard as we should have to keep her from fighting. Where she probably needed a therapist, we gave her cheesy pep talks and lots of training. Eventually, I guess, she just snapped.
"Katrina was convinced that a powerful artifact would restore her destroyed homeworld. Four years, after Crisis, she made a deal with some of our enemies to retrieve and use the artifact, but there was a catch. The artifact required to drain the entire life energy of a planet and the Martians planned to use Earth. Driven by grief and anger, Katrina didn't care. Most of Earth's heroes sacrificed their lives to stop her, but it was too late. The resulting destruction killed the rest of the heroes. I'm all that's left. Earth's been under quarantine ever since."
"That's horrible," I breathe.
"Why didn't you help her?" Nix questions.
"I ask myself that question every day," Dreamer replied.
