Chapter Six: Love Is Powerful
With that, Thomas explained the event on how he was lifted into the air by Edward and The Great Spirits as he then told him that this caused him to transform into a bear. This made Percy's mouth dropped in awe as he thought this story was wicked. However, Thomas was not finished as he explained that with this change, he told him how he couldn't drink water like a bear, how he couldn't fish like a bear, and how he couldn't fight like a bear. Just hearing that story makes sense with Thomas's behaviour as his behaviour was not a typical bear standard. Despite this, Thomas explained that he was grateful to meet Percy as Percy hugged him and said that they are like brothers. However, when he heard that, this made Thomas try not to cry as he pushed him away gently as he then looked back to the mountain that touches the light, "Percy, I did something very wrong.", he spoke sombrely.
"What did you do, Thomas?", Percy asked as he now feeling concerned.
With that, Thomas choked his tears as he replied, "I-I killed a bear."
Just hearing those three last words shattered Percy as his mouth went wide in horror with his eyes began to get teary. He just couldn't believe what he had heard from Thomas's mouth. He hoped that the story was just a sick joke, but he knew that Thomas had spoken the truth, and this made Percy's heartache, "W-who did you kill?", Percy asked as he began to tremble while walking backwards slowly.
Thomas went quiet from hearing that as he knew that Percy wanted the answer, even though the damage as already been done. There, he looked at Percy as he replied sadly, "Percy, your mother's not coming back."
When Percy received the answer, tears rolled down his cheeks as he looked to the ground before looking back at him as he spoke in a tone that was full of fear, shock, and anguish, "No. No!"
With that, Thomas tried to apologise to him about his sins, but only to see that Percy ran deep into the forest as he cried. This broke Thomas's heart as he chased after him and cried, "Percy! Percy! Percy! Percy, I wish I could... If there was… if there was just some way, I-I'd give anything if... I could just…"
However, as he stopped his track, he noticed his pawprint being printed on the snow blanket as he sighed and used his paw finger to draw a human hand. This made Thomas closed his eyes tightly as he whispered, "I'm sorry, Percy. I'm so sorry. I'm truly am."
After that, Thomas decided to head to the mountain that touches the light as he hoped he would get some answers, resolved his problems, and turn back into his human form. Once Thomas left the scene, Percy peeped his head as he hid behind the bushes. As he saw Thomas leaving, Percy couldn't bear to look at him as he went the other way and began to cry. All this time he had with Thomas, he now knew that he hung out with a hunter that killed his mother, yet he could tell that Thomas was remorseful about his action. With that, the two friends went on their separate ways.
…
Meanwhile, somewhere in the mountain caves, the snowstorm began to hit hard as the wind blew violently with the snow was being pushed by force. The temperature was freezing as inside the small cave, Gordon had his cloak him and his mittens on as he began to shiver. It was getting so cold that the only heat resource he had was the bonfire that he created. However, that didn't last long as the wind blew the bonfire out, which left Gordon with no heating source, and it would be risky to go outside to gather some more wood. With that, Gordon looked at the spear that has Thomas's totem attached to it with pure sadness as he felt like he failed him, "I'm sorry, Thomas. I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I need help."
As he began to hug his spear, he spotted something very odd. Right in front of him was a light blue eagle with piercing star blue eyes, staring at him. When Gordon saw its eyes, he immediately recognised him as he gasped and whispered, "Edward?"
With that, Edward cawed at Gordon as he flew to the mountain that touches the light without a struggle from the snowstorm. This made Gordon wanted to follow him as he hoped that Edward could help him and perhaps lead him to where the bear was so he can slay it down to avenge Edward and Thomas's death. Without a moment to spare, Gordon gripped his spear tightly as he began to follow Edward's direction and he didn't care about the weather one bit.
…
Back in the forest, Percy had his head down as he felt miserable. All he could think about was his mother. He missed her dearly and even though he's an adult, she was always there for him whenever he's alone or he struggled. The more he thought about his mother, the more tears had been produced as he wished that this never happened. All he wanted to do was to get away from the pain and hoping things will get better.
As Percy walked all alone, he heard two familiar voices as the two voices were discussing the mammoth ride while arguing with each other. In the end, one of the voices declared that he would look for a new brother when he spotted Percy. When Percy looked up, he saw Ben running up to him as he wrapped his leg around Percy's shoulder as he shouted that Percy will be his brother and that Bill can now be all alone. Just hearing the word "brother", made Percy shove Ben away as he said that he didn't want any brothers.
Ben misheard Percy as he retorted to Bill that Percy doesn't him to be his brother. However, when Percy heard that word again, he shook his head violently as he cried, "No! I said I don't want any brothers! Ever!"
When Bill and Ben heard that as Percy sat down while sobbing, they both looked at each other with concern as they looked back at Percy. They knew Percy was the cheery, upbeat, and friendly type of bear that never harms a squirrel, but just seeing him under the weather made them upset and hearing that Percy doesn't want any brothers broke their hearts as even though Bill and Ben would do pranks and sometimes get into fights, the two loved each other dearly as if something bad happens to one of them, the other one would be devasted.
There, the two decided to cheer him up by explaining the wacky pranks they did when they were younger as they also explained the times that they got into an ugly fight and one time, the two departed their ways, but only to realise that they missed each other dearly and they went to look for each other. Just hearing those stories made Percy feel somewhat better, but what made him feel better though was that Bill and Ben told him that everyone makes mistakes, even it leaves terrible damage, but if anyone can change themselves, things will change for the better. With that, the two moose headed their way as now they stopped arguing and they got along once again.
Just hearing all those stories made Percy thought hard as he knew that the moose brothers were right. He did have those moments that he argued with Thomas and there were other moments that the two got along as brothers do. He also remembered that Thomas gave him a remorse look when he told him the truth. Percy always tried to look for good things in every creature and realising how honest, protective, and fun Thomas was, he knew that Thomas learned his mistake as he decided to go after him to make amends and help him with his mission.
…
Meanwhile, at the top of the mountain that touches the light, the snowstorm was still going as Thomas managed to make his way to the top. Once Thomas got to the top as he cried out for Edward, "Edward! Edward, are you there? Edward! Please. Please, Edward. I don't know what else to do.", Thomas begged as he began to fell into despair.
Before he could give up, he spotted a silhouette on what looked like an eagle as Thomas's sky blue eyes went wide. He hoped it was Edward as he can change into a man and set everything right. However, to his horror, it wasn't Edward, it was Gordon as his cloak gave the illusion of wings. When Gordon landed on the ground with his spear ready, he revealed his face to Thomas as he looked even more dangerous as his eyes were full of rage and vengeance. This horrified Thomas as he begged him to not hurt him. This was proven all in vain as Gordon lunged at him. Thomas gasped as he ran while begging Edward to change him back to his human form.
While running, Gordon tackled him as put his spear on Thomas's neck to prevent him from attacking him. It was a life and death battle as the two brothers fought. Gordon was full of hate while Thomas was full of love. It was intense as when Gordon tried to slay Thomas, the two accidentally fell off the cliff as they landed on the ledge. This resulted in Thomas being knocked out as Gordon got up weakly. However, when Gordon saw that Thomas was unconscious, he slowly approached him with the spear as he moved Thomas's body so he can prepare to stab him in the chest. Before Gordon could do that, Thomas woke up, still stunned as he saw Gordon's expression, "Gordon.", he spoke feebly as he saw Gordon raised his spear, "Gordon, please."
However, before Gordon could act, he was knocked to the ground by someone that Thomas didn't expect, "Percy?", he gasped in surprise as Percy gave him a small smile while panting heavily.
When Gordon got up, he noticed that his spear was near Percy as he began to go after it. Percy turned his head and noticed the spear himself. There, he ran after it as Thomas cried, "No! Percy!"
As Percy tried to get to the spear first, Gordon could see his attempt as he went after Percy to tackle him down, "No! Leave him alone!", Thomas shouted as he didn't want Gordon to harm Percy.
While this occurred, a light blue eagle swooped in as it went towards Thomas. When this happened, Gordon managed to get his spear first and before he could stab Thomas in the back, something magical happened as the flash of light illuminated the sky in warm shades of colours as the aurora danced across. The snowstorm was long gone, and Thomas let out a scream, which startled all creatures and humans nearby. When the scream was over, Gordon looked up and to his surprise, he could see Edward in his eagle from lifting Thomas into the air as The Great Spirits began to take over Thomas. With this happening, the snow and ice beneath Gordon melted as flowers grew around him. This startled Gordon as he panted while shaking in fear.
However, when Gordon looked back at Thomas, Thomas was covered by the lights as he transformed into his human form while wearing a pure white fur sweater, pants, and pair of boots. Thomas gasped as he looked down to see Gordon's eyes went wide in astonishment, "Thomas?", Gordon asked in a whispered tone of matter.
While Thomas was still in the air, Thomas looked at his now hands as he was surprised that he was back to his human form. He felt so happy, yet he was confused as he had been a bear for the past couple of days. When Thomas landed on the ground safely, Thomas and Gordon turned their heads to the light blue eagle as it flew to the ground, but only to glow in a nice light blue aura as it transformed to Edward.
Thomas was delighted to see his brother as he smiled while Gordon's eyes were filled with tears of shock, sadness, and regrets. Edward went to Gordon first as he gave him a gentle smile, "E-Edward?", Gordon stuttered as Edward placed his hand under Gordon's chin to shush him.
Gordon was dumbstruck as he saw Edward heading towards Thomas. Gordon looked at the spear he held as he immediately dropped it to the ground. He realised that the bear he tried to kill was none other than his younger brother. He felt terrible for his action as his bands to shake with tears rolling down his cheeks like a waterfall.
When Edward got towards Thomas, Thomas chuckled as Edward wrapped his arms around Thomas as the two brothers hugged each other. Thomas cried in tears of joy as he was glad to see Edward again and that he had learned his mistakes, which made him turn back into a human. Thomas now understood Mavis's words as Edward looked with him with his eyes telling him how much he was proud of him.
As they embraced each other, the two along with Gordon heard a roar as they spotted Percy had his head peeped out from a huge rock as his ears went back in fear. Thomas knew what to do as he took a deep breath and walked to Percy while Edward gave him an encouraging smile while Gordon looked at him with sorrow. The two older brothers watched the interaction between Thomas and Percy.
Once Thomas got close to Percy, the green bear slowly walked away as he was afraid as Thomas tried to soothe him while trying to approach him, "Percy. Percy, don't be afraid. It's me."
When Percy heard Thomas's voice, he quickly recognised it as he ran to him and placed his head on Thomas's forehead as Thomas wrapped his arms around him. They both embraced each other as Thomas chuckled heartily. Percy snuggled him as he roared at him with sadness and happiness. Thomas felt content as he was glad that he made amend with Percy, who he saw as his younger brother, despite similar in age-wise.
After a minute of embracing each other, Thomas's smile began to turn upside down as he then looked at Percy with teary eyes as Percy roared at him as if he tried to talk to him but since Thomas was now a human, he couldn't communicate with him as he assumed that Percy tried to comfort him. As Thomas looked at him, he felt a touch on his right shoulder blade as he turned his head. To his surprise, he saw Edward as he presented to him his bear totem necklace as Thomas grabbed it.
When Thomas had his totem in his hand, he examined it carefully as he questioned his destiny. While looking at his totem, he then turned his attention to Percy as Percy look at him with a small frown. Thomas thought for a moment about his decision. Should he stay in his human form and live his human, or should he go back to his bear form so he can be with Percy? Though Percy was an adult, he felt like he had a bond and Percy was alone.
After a minute of making his tough decision, he sighed as he looked back at Edward spoke softly, "He needs me. He's like my brother to me."
Edward was surprised by his decision and Gordon's reaction was the same. However, when Gordon looked down, he thought about how selfless Thomas was with the decision as he decided to make a witty comment, despite he did try to get rid of Thomas as he thought he was a random bear, "You know… he did look better as a bear.", he smirked as Edward looked at Gordon then back to Thomas with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
With those responses, Thomas chuckled as he then looked at Percy with a grin before he frowned again. Was Gordon okay with his decision as he asked if he was okay with his choice? Gordon gave him a warm smile as he went to his little brother, "It's alright Thomas.", he assured his little brother.
Thomas was glad to hear that as he walked towards his older brother, leaving Percy alone. However, Percy spotted something glowing nearby as he gasped in awe. He saw something, more like someone familiar as he slowly approached someone glowing as tears escaped from his eyes. While this occurred, Gordon grabbed Thomas's totem necklace as it put it on Thomas's neck as he spoke with kindness and love, "No matter what you choose, you'll always be my little brother."
With that, they both had their hands held as they did a fist shake while Thomas chuckled happily. Edward was happy to see his brothers together again as he knew that Thomas made a wise and selfless decision. Edward knew that Thomas had decided to give up his man life and be a bear to be with Percy. Edward also knew that Thomas had figured out what love means and where he truly belongs.
There, Edward summoned The Great Spirits to transform Thomas back to his bear form as they listened. When this event occurred, Thomas embraced Gordon as The Great Spirits transformed Thomas back to his bear form. He grew bigger than Gordon as they hugged tightly. Once they finished hugging, Gordon looked up as he gasped in surprise, "Oh. Did I say little?", he joked as Thomas roared in laughter.
After that, three brothers united as they all embraced each other. They felt whole again as they were happy to be together like the good old days, even though Edward was now a spirit and Thomas was a bear. As they hugged each other, they all spotted Percy, who was nudging his mother's face as she's now a spirit herself. Percy's mother looked at her son with pure love as she told him how proud she was. Percy felt happy to at least see his mother once again.
Once they were done, Percy's mother looked at Thomas as she told him that she had forgiven him. This touched Thomas's heart as he didn't expect Percy's mother to be so forgiving. There, he smiled at her and thanked her. After everything was amended, Edward ran to Percy's mother, and they ascended to the sky while Edward transformed back to his eagle form.
With that, they both reached the aurora as everything faded. Once the sky was back to rich blue, Thomas walked to Percy as he gave him a warm smile. When Percy spotted him, he exclaimed his name with joy as they two began to have a playful wrestle fight. The two were now brothers as they two were happy. While this occurred, Gordon decided to join in as the three had a play fight in the grassy, flower patch area at the mountain as their love was so strong and so powerful.
…
Three days later at the cliff where the ceremony was commenced, everyone celebrated by dressing up as animals, banging the drums, and dancing the music while chanting. Everyone was excited that this ceremony was going to be different and huge. As the celebration continued, Mavis walked in with the torch of flames in her right hand as she took a deep breath. As she opened her eyes, she saw Gordon was next to her as he gave her a gentle smile. There, he gave the torch to Gordon as he threw it to the bonfire, and everyone cheered.
Once the fire was lit, Gordon and Mavis hugged each other as Gordon knew that love was the most powerful thing on earth. After they embraced each other, they both turned their heads, and on the other side was Thomas with his totem around his neck as he walked down the aisle proudly. As he walked, he saw Percy in the crowd as some young boy and girls hugged him. Percy was so happy for Thomas that Thomas gave him a "thank you" smile.
After walking, Gordon rubbed Thomas's head as he chuckled. Thomas laughed as Gordon gently grabbed Thomas's right paw and placed it into the bowl of red paint. Once his paw was covered in paint, Thomas lifted his paw to the wall as he imprinted his pawprint. Just doing that made him feel good as when he placed his paw down, he opened his mouth in joy as the crowd cheered for him. Mavis looked at him with a gentle smile as she nodded her head. When that was over, Percy and Gordon went to Thomas as played a quick fight as they embraced each other. What the others didn't know was that Edward was there in his eagle form as he smiled at his little brother. With that, Thomas learned the true meaning of love and they all lived as one happy family. The end.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I made this fanfiction as I held another competition on Twitter. The first winner gets a free Disney/TTTE request, which I did in this one, the second winner gets a free three chapters request, and the third winner gets to have their OC/Sona appeared in one of my future fanfictions. So, this amazing request was asked by the first winner's name… EDJ. He wanted me to do the movie "Brother Bear", which is one of my favourite Disney movies as it's so breathtaking, heart-warming, and magical.
Also, this is in a different universe as I ship Thomas with James and they are still my OTP and don't worry, Edward is still alive in every other AUs, including my main AU. I would also like to mention that please do not ask for requests until I'm open to it. Thank you for being understanding.
Anyways... I hope you guys enjoyed it and I hope you love it, EDJ!
