Gabriel is going frantic around the mansion, where could she be? He had checked every room three times now, called her ten, and texted her thirty. He tried to remind himself that she probably wasn't dead but that only opened the realm of what if she was actually dead?
She has to be out somewhere, he decides that it's time he goes looking for her. Where would she be? What were her favorite places? Why didn't he ever talk to her more about where she liked to go?
Hawkmoth is sure to find her faster but he has sworn away from spying on her emotions, looking for her that way would feel wrong. Instead, he just uses Hawkmoth's speed and other heightened senses to try and find his missing assistant.
Why would she go away without telling him? Yes, she was an adult but he still wanted to know where she was going especially with her worsening condition. She had used the miraculous today, she could be anywhere right now, and in any condition.
"Where could she be?" Hawkmoth mumbles to himself until he spots her sitting alone on a park bench. It feels odd for him to see her there but he detransforms and goes to see the lovely lady.
He doesn't know who she's talking to but he hears her say, "I'm just a huge failure."
Gabriel is about to object when Duusu's high-pitched voice responds. Their response makes it seem like Nathalie feels bad because of something she did.
"Thanks, Duusu, but you don't have to lie to me, it's obvious I'm just a burden to him," Nathalie says now.
Did she seriously think that? Did she think that she was a burden to him? No, she was his, if not his most, valuable asset. He sets a hand on her shoulder and regrets as she jumps and then bursts into a coughing fit.
"I'm sorry," he says, "but you don't think of yourself like that, do you?"
She struggles to catch her breath, "I-I-" she stutters trying to formulate a sentence.
"Shh," Gabriel coos her and sits down next to her.
The song the band is playing switches and while Gabriel hadn't recognized the previous one he does know this one. It might be a stupid decision but she looks so sad and he makes a split-second decision to try and cheer her up.
"Don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me
I said you're holding back
She said shut up and dance with me," he sings softly to her.
"Shut up," she manages to get out.
"This woman is my destiny
She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me," his hand moves under her chin and forces some eye contact.
"Gabriel, please," Nathalie begs, but he just gives her a small smile instead that explains how he isn't going to stop unless she gives in to his unknown demands.
