"Ganyu, just come down please."
You might wonder what he meant by that. Well, here was a short explanation, Ganyu thought that it was a good idea to hide on a tree. It was indeed a smart move, but there was a flaw in this.
Ganyu didn't know how to get down.
Realizing this, she started to panic and moved around too much. It caused some leaves to fell rapidly and it caught Zhongli's attention. Now, he was trying to persuade Ganyu to come down but that didn't seem to work so well.
"If I do that, you'll capture me right away!"
"That's not supposed to be your priority right now…" Zhongli facepalmed. Well, he was not necessarily right either. Ganyu was the last rebel to currently survive. The others were depending on her so she must not lose.
But, she began to feel guilty for wasting his time over something silly like this. She gave up and decided that now was the time for her to confess about something.
"Besides," She trailed off, "I don't know how to get down…"
"Oh, just jump."
Ganyu who was previously covered her face out of embarrassment now stopped. A look of disbelief was sent to him by her.
"What was that supposed to mean?!" Zhongli flinched a little over how loud Ganyu was. He then sighed a tried to smile as warm as possible at her.
"It's going to be fine, Ganyu. I'll catch you." He sincerely said and then added, "I'm here for you, I always am."
Ganyu was touched by his kind words but it somehow sounded familiar. Then, an old memory flashed through her mind.
There was a storm at that time, so she was hiding in a small cave and wait for it to stop. She couldn't recall where exactly she was. But, she wasn't afraid. She wasn't alone in the unknown after all.
A loud thunder suddenly presented itself. Out of shock and fright, Ganyu hid her little body behind her companion's back. Yes, she wasn't an adult yet at that time. She was still a child who needed plenty of love and care. Her companion gave her all of those.
"Are you okay, Ganyu?" A hand caressed her hair, stopping her from trembling a little.
She looked up and was met with the face of her god, Rex Lapis. He was also a father figure for Ganyu.
Ganyu does have an actual father. He was a kind man and she loved him a lot. But still, when one got close to Rex Lapis, there was no choice but to think of him as your own parent.
"I'm just a bit scared, that's all."Rex Lapis smiled warmly and then pulled her for a hug. Ganyu was taken aback by this. She tried to escape but it was to no avail. She finally surrendered and positioned herself so she could be more comfortable. She was now sitting on his thigh with both of his arms hugging her, while Rex Lapis was sitting cross-legged.
"Do you think it'll stop soon?" Rex Lapis who was previously staring at the rain, shifted his attention to Ganyu and nodded.
"Even if it's not, you don't need to worry. I'm here for you. I always am." He rubbed her arm for reassurance. Ganyu felt at ease with him and she began to feel sleepy.
"Go to sleep."
With that, Ganyu fell asleep in Rex Lapis' warm embrace.
Ganyu felt like she could cry at any second now. She missed him so much.
Then, she looked down and saw that Zhongli was still waiting for her. His arms were stretched, ready to catch her.
'This is embarrassing.'
With that thought on her mind, she jumped down. She was closing her eyes the entire time due to how scared she was.
"You can open your eyes now." Ganyu's eyes fluttered open slightly and she noticed Zhongli managed to catch her. He was now carrying her bridal style. Ganyu got even more embarrassed and immediately went away from him. It was an awkward moment before she decided to thank him at last.
"Thank you, Zhongli"
He smiled at her and chuckled because of how adorable Ganyu was right now. Ganyu was smiling too but then Zhongli reminded her of one small fact.
"So, does this mean I won?"
"Oh- NO!"
