Well, this wasn't going to be good.
Ced and Arthur had been dragged into Castle Manster, and it would've been fine if they were not forced to be near each other. But currently, Fee and Tinni were in another room talking about...whatever they were talking about, it was hard to hear anything. So they just...stayed still, not speaking at all, and it was awkward and painful for both parties.
Arthur was still heated from the fight, while Ced just wanted to have his sister listen to reason. Why did they have to be near each other again? What was this, some kind of attempt to have them be friends? Like hell that would happen!
What felt like hours of awkward silence were suddenly stopped by Fee and Tinni, who came into the room. Their expression was no different than the last time they saw them, and the two knew exactly what was about to happen.
Because of his wishing to reason, Ced began to speak first. "I-"
Fee cut off his sentence before he could even start. "No talking, we ask the questions first! Starting with Arthur...Tinni, would you like to interrogate him?"
Tinni nodded, and looked at her brother. "Okay, first of all, how many times do I have to tell you to not do anything reckless! I thought what happened in Alster taught you a lesson, but it seems you don't ever seem to learn from your mistakes!"
Arthur sighed in annoyance. "Must I explain myself? I had a reason for doing this, I didn't just go in and attack out of nowhere. I knew what I was trying to do. And he has a certain book in his hands…infuriating!"
"Yes but he-" Ced got interrupted again.
"What did I just say? No. Talking!" Fee shouted.
Arthur continued. "Tinni, you have heard of the Book of Forseti, correct?"
"Yeah, the Divine Wind of Silesse."
"Well, the book in question is in Ced's possession. Which is supposed to be my birthright!"
"Still doesn't excuse your behavior," Tinni replied and paused for a moment, deep in thought. "Wait…if you're saying what I think you're saying. Fee and Ced are…that cannot be right, can it?"
"Well I doubt people can use the Forseti tome if they have only minor Holy Blood. So Ced has to bear the brand like I do."
"Wait a minute." Fee suddenly chimed in. "Cedsy, I thought it was supposed to be only one weapon user per generation."
"That is what I thought. But apparently if he claims to use it too, he must have major Holy Blood too." Ced looked over at Arthur, who was still annoyed.
"I do! If I showed you right now you could see a little bit of it. Do you want me to do that? It seems pointless if you ask me."
"I do not trust you, so I would like to see," Ced bluntly said, much to Arthur's insistence.
Arthur sighed, turned around and lifted his hair up. The top part of the brand was shown, in which Ced recognized it instantly. So he was telling the truth. Oh by the wind, what else has Father kept from him?
Ced nodded to confirm. "That is the brand. The same as my own. So you are correct. I still do not trust you though…"
"I was telling the truth. You do not need to trust me, I was merely showing you what you wanted."
"That was still no reason to go in and insult me. Even if you bear the same blood of the wind crusader."
"Hey! I was just trying to-"
Immediately, Fee went in between them. "Shush you two!" She said, interrupting their argument before it got worse. "Now, Cedsy, what were you thinking about almost killing Arthur? Especially when you were using that tome! You know better than to just kill people for no reason!"
"Look, Fee. I don't know what happened, I just wanted to scare him off. But it didn't work at all."
Ced looked at the Forseti tome, which was still next to him.
"Let me have it! Or at least…let me try!" Arthur then chimed in.
Tinni instantly said, "Nope, you are not getting that."
"Hmm…I must admit the tome didn't feel right when I used it…maybe it's because Arthur is the main wielder I suppose. We could let him hold it, at the very least." Ced pondered, maybe it was for the best. As he picked up the tome, he felt the same wind-like feeling…hopefully for the last time.
Arthur instantly took the Forseti tome. "I finally got it! I finally-" He exclaimed excitedly. Just then, he felt something strange, the book began to glow the same green color. But it was…different, it felt…wrong, it didn't hurt but the winds around him were harsh. It almost felt like the book didn't want him. Which was dumb considering Arthur was the first child born with the blood. Ced just came afterward. He didn't like that, not one bit. He blinked, and the tome fell out of his hands. Placed still open but upside down, the same bright green aura was still present.
"What was that…?" Tinni asked.
"I-I don't know…it was almost like it didn't want me to have it…? But that doesn't make any sense," Arthur said, still trying to recover.
Ced picked up the tome and closed it. The glow subsided. "It seems to be fine for me. It didn't react like that when I used it. Strange…I will need to learn how that works. I suppose I have to use this then, after all I can use it better, I guess."
"That tome…didn't feel right. I don't want to use it. I don't! I should've never held that book! I'll be fine! I can use my other magic. Why did it choose you? It seems to not like me. It's like it has a mind of its own!"
"I think you are overreacting. Maybe just calm down there. You're acting immature," Ced said.
"What? Did you just? Oh you little…" Arthur attempted to fight Ced again, but Tinni grabbed him and held him back.
"That's enough for you two! Can you not get along!?" Fee shouted, hitting Ced and Arthur on their heads.
"It's not easy to get along, you know?" Arthur raised his voice, trying to break free.
"I know but can you at least stop attacking him! We don't want any of you to end up dying. We are at war, you know?!" Tinni exclaimed, following Fee's scolding.
"B-But. he's the one who-" Arthur tried to defend himself, but immediately got cut off.
"JUST STOP." Both Tinni and Fee shouted, which made Arthur and Ced jump and look at them again.
"That's it. Just stay here! Both of you!" Fee demanded.
Arthur still protested. "But what of Lord Seli-"
"We'll tell him, he'll understand," Tinni concluded. "You especially aren't good to go out to battle, brother. Not with your current attitude. I hate having to watch over you all the time."
"You two don't have to talk to each other, but you need to stay here, in the castle. I cannot risk anything," Fee followed up on Tinni's comment. "Just please, behave yourselves. I don't want to come back with one of you dead on the floor."
And with that, the two sisters left, leaving the two mages alone, completely ignoring each other.
So...the Forseti, huh?
Ced had caught an interest in what had happened with Arthur. It had been a little while since his sister had left him in the castle. So of course he would have decided to use that to his advantage. Arthur had mentioned that Forseti was not reacting well to him. But when Ced used it, while yes, it didn't feel right, it didn't...do whatever happened with Arthur.
He told himself he would stop using the book, he really did. But he always let his fascination get the best of him, and who could blame him? Holy Weapons were an interesting topic to say the least. It wasn't like anybody actually knew much about the Forseti Tome itself.
"So Arthur says this book had a mind of its own? Hmmm...it could've been him overreacting but…" Ced spoke out his thoughts and opened the book, seeing the glowing wind inside the book appear in front of him.
He casted a simple wind spell from the book...perhaps he could learn to cast it from his own hands. Perhaps it could work too...it was so easy to use in hindsight, though at the cost of its power being too much to handle. Then he casted a small wind gust from his hands...fascinated at the ease of the spell.
And Arthur had a hard time with this...he said?
Ced began to flip through the pages, reciting small parts of the text, feeling the winds around his hand. Harsh...but...immensely powerful. Perhaps Arthur just didn't use it enough, but that was better off like that. Perhaps Ced was just more skilled, or perhaps the book just called to him first. He simply did not understand.
Arthur was overreacting, the Forseti Book wasn't bad...hopefully.
He felt fine, but really he was only casting small spells in a secluded room for the sake of concentration. Maybe it just was easy right now, because he surely hadn't done this before until now. But Arthur didn't need that Forseti book, no no, he was too much for that. Judging from his attitude alone, not right at all.
It was Ced's, he had obtained it first after all.
Yeah...Arthur was crazy, nothing was wrong. Nothing at all.
He was pathetic.
The power of the wind was powerful, but nothing compared to Ced.
He didn't know Arthur well, to be fair, but he was so, how to say it?...Unworthy?
Yeah, definitely.
Ced closed the book as the same glow began to subside.
Strange…
It had been about two days since the whole event happened and Tinni and Fee just came back to the castle. When they went inside, it looked as though nothing was broken or messed with, that was a relief at least.
Arthur was the first one to notice that they had returned, they seemed to look calmer than the last he saw them, but he wasn't sure they'd stay that way once they saw him. He noticed that there was another person with them, it was a young-looking blonde priest. Maybe it was a new recruit, but why is he with them? Was Tinni interested in him? No, he couldn't allow that, she was too young for that anyway.
He got closer to the group, but before he could ask, Ced suddenly appeared in front of him and asked the same question he had in mind.
"Fee, could you explain to me who this is? I don't think I have met him before." Ced looked at the boy curiously.
"Oh Ced and Arthur, just who I wanted to see!" Fee cheered and moved the priest in front of her, "This is Corpul! We rescued him from Luthecia. Apparently, he has a gift for magic, so I thought he could teach you two a thing or two."
"Are you sure you didn't just pick him up randomly on your way here?" Ced joked. "You literally did that with Julia."
"What the hell? How can a kid teach us anything, I am already skilled as is." Arthur began to chime in.
"This isn't about Julia!" Fee said, her tone a bit louder than before.
"If you'd allow him to explain, maybe you two would understand," Tinni replied.
Corpul stepped in and started speaking, causing the two girls to fall silent. "Let me deal with this, if we fight, there will be no way to do this. Concentration is key."
"What skills do you have that I haven't already learned?" Arthur asked, still unconvinced of whatever this priest had to offer.
The said priest only looked at him in such an annoyed way. "Magic is a wonderful thing, you might learn every spell, but you still have a lot to learn," Corpul explained. "Perhaps you have not learned that tomes also have the ability to be manipulated in such a way to where they can replicate certain moves only swords could use."
The mage knight in question only grew more confused. "The what now? You mean like how that one girl...I forgot her name, I saw her sword glow a certain green color?"
"Well, to my knowledge the 'starstrike' move can only be obtained and learned by Isaachians. I have the ability to do moonlight and sunlight skills."
"If it will make my power better, then I'll consider it," Arthur said. "That is, if you can use powerful tomes such as my Thoron."
"Thoron...that's a tome I have not seen before. It's such a rare one I must add. It is possible, however."
Arthur then took out his Thoron tome. "How long will this take? I must know."
Taking the tome, Corpul said, "Well, if you are looking for something like the moonlight technique. No time at all. I feel like you would benefit from moonlight, you remind me of someone I knew...cannot remember them now but...you-Arthur, was it- Shall have moonlight."
"Heh, then do that, will ya?" Arthur felt this newfound pride as he watched Corpul do some weird spell shenanigans (what even were they, he wondered). Soon enough, it was done. He noticed an odd blue color surrounding him soon afterwards.
When he took it back, he felt some newfound confidence. Oh, this was going to be so fun, he thought.
Ced, with a slight sense of hesitance, said. "I wonder, can it...work with holy weapons...the one I am referring to is Forseti…?"
Corpul's jaw dropped. "F-Forseti? What? I-I do not know if that is possible. Do you have the book in question?"
"I do. Here." Ced said and reached for his pockets to show the Book of Forseti to Corpul. Corpul looked amazed as soon as he saw the tome.
"Oh, the tome it's…" He paused and looked at the tome in question. There was silence for a while as he looked at it closer. Then immediately his eyes widened and he shook his head. "No...I cannot do it. It is...not right, the aura of this tome. It doesn't feel right, I cannot risk anything. I apologize."
Ced looked at the tome again and sighed. "I understand…" He said solemnly, before looking for another tome he had. Then he took out his Light tome. "This one, then...this tome is special to me."
"Ooooh a Light tome? Now that's a new one, but it will work. It's power is already immense, so perhaps with that power, sunlight could work the best," Corpul stated, then without a word, the spell was casted. And the tome glowed a bright orange, it worked well with the color of the tome.
After taking the tome, Ced finally said. "Thank you…"
"No worries, now." Corpul stopped his sentence with a yawn. "That was tiring...but I still have to do one more thing. I need to look for Papa. Where is he?"
"Oh! You mean that General Hannibal guy? He's outside I think, I only saw a glimpse from when I was flying around," Fee said.
"Since you are so kind, might you take me there?" He asked her.
"Of course! We just need to go look for Mahnya, so just follow me!" Fee cheered and both of them left the castle. Arthur and Ced were looking at their tomes and getting a gist of their new abilities. They were so focused that they didn't notice that they had left.
"Ced!"
The moment Ced had gone outside, he was met with Julia. The girl was hugging him tightly so suddenly, he didn't remember her being this affectionate. He was unsure of what to say at first, already being overwhelmed with emotions and all. But once he had calmed down a bit, he said, "Julia! I hadn't noticed you were here."
"I've been with Lord Leif's army for a while. I heard that you were in Manster but I couldn't find you for a while. Just...oh Ced I've missed you!"
"I missed you too, I am glad you're safe..." Ced smiled at her, and she smiled back. He couldn't remember when he last saw her smile. She was so cute!
"I am glad you're safe, do you know how much worry Fee was in? She thought you might've gotten yourself killed! She didn't want that, and neither did I!"
"I'm sorry to have worried you like that, Julia. But I'm fine, there is no need to worry." Ced squeezed her hands tightly.
Julia squeezed his hands tighter at that point. "The whole time I was gone, I was scared about you and Fee's wellbeing." For a moment it looked like Julia was holding back tears. "Now please, tell me how it all went, your adventure and all."
"Heh, it's a bit of a long story, but I suppose I can tell you." Ced started to think of what had happened. Then, with a breath, he spoke. "Well..."
