Weiss Hears Hinata
Weiss and Hinata are drinking tea while on the cafeteria. Weiss remembered what she asked Naruto before they split up.
"Hinata looks familiar." Weiss pointed out, waving a finger at Hinata.
"You two probably crossed paths at many an aristocratic banquet. You could ask her yourself. Just talk to her like you would your teammates." Naruto said.
Weiss said to Hinata. "You look familiar. Have we met before?"
Hinata looked surprised for a bit then asked. "You and I?" She frowned then widened her eyes as she remembered. "Now that I think about it, I'm sure I remember seeing your face thrice before. But these days I'm seldom in Atlas."
Weiss nodded and said. "I'm familiar with your family company. Hyuuga Eye Care and Eye Zones right?"
Hinata nodded. "That's right. I'm no longer there much anymore. However I heard that Neji, my cousin is set to take over the company from my father when he retires and my younger sister is being groomed to marry your younger brother."
Now it's Weiss' turn to nod. "That's true. My father wishes to unite both companies through this marriage contract through Whitley and your younger sister, Hanabi was it?" Hinata nodded.
Weiss stated. "I'd like to know your reasons for joining this team in Beacon."
Hinata made a tiny smile and answered. "I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours."
Weiss nodded. "Deal."
"I was the former heiress of the Hyuuga Eye Care and Eye Zones. I did my job pretty well and I was being betrothed to an Otsutsuki but eventually everything became dull and repetitive. Working at the eye care offices, going out with friends who only care about your status, parties with no one I care about. I just wanted something exciting and dangerous, to prove myself that I'm not some aristocrat who spends her days indoors."
"Like being a Huntress." Weiss said, Hinata nodded.
"I met Team 7 and immediately I felt at home since none of them cared about my status. We had some life-threatening situations before but I didn't care. I enjoyed the thrill in being a support for my teammates. Made me feel alive."
Weiss said. "I'm guessing your father found out."
"Indeed. He confronted me one night and gave me a choice: Either forfeit my inheritance or had my forehead marked by a Dust-operated seal to deny my Semblance. Gave me a day to say my goodbyes to everyone. So I stayed with Team 7 on a more permanent basis and I consider them my new family." Hinata looked at Weiss. "And you know what? Despite what I've left behind, I don't regret it all one bit."
She pointed at Weiss. "Your turn."
Weiss cleared her throat and explained. "I was the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company but I decided to become a Huntress to deny my father's wish for me take over the company. I have this scar from a battle my father knew that I couldn't win but I managed to enroll to Beacon anyway. I know that my parents often fight and my mother ended up as a drunk while my father would be the control freak he is. My sister Winter went on to join the military while Whitley would follow my father's footsteps."
Weiss paused for a moment and continued while Hinata didn't interrupt. "So I met Ruby and let's just say we didn't get along so well at first, her bumping on me and all but she became my first and best friend and now officially, my partner. I made peace with Blake even though I've learned that she's a Faunus and I've gotten along with Yang very well. Now I consider Team RWBY as my family as I know that they've gotten my back in a pinch and know that I'll do the same for them."
Hinata smiled as she commented. "Guess you and I are somewhat alike."
Weiss' turn to smile back. "We're both aristocrats, we both left our companies and we both have teammates who care for us."
"Indeed." Hinata said as they drank their tea peacefully.
Weiss went to Team 7's dorm and said to Naruto who was lying down on his bed, playing with his Scroll. "Hinata told me her story."
"Yeah. Her father's quest for status, money and power had succeeded but at a great cost and the price her father had to pay was that his relationship with his two daughters had been all but broken. He had effectively disowned Hinata and she told me that the only reason Hanabi was set to marry Whitely is because she wanted to get away from him after what he did to her old sister. Neji is now slated to become his successor even though his nephew despised him and finds it hard to forgive him."
Weiss said. "I imagine that he tried to get you to hand his daughter to him."
Naruto nodded. "That's right. I made it clear that while Hinata would still his daughter and I'll take good care of her and all that, he is not allowed to interact with his daughter. EVER. If Hiashi wanted to pursue his selfish quest for clan glory, he'll have to do it on his own."
Weiss sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I just hope for my and my family's sakes that my family's bond doesn't end up like Hinata's."
Naruto nodded again. "I hope it is too."
