Ruby's Improvements
Naruto once again went to Team RWBY and offered his assistance when it comes to their leader. Weiss and Yang jumped on the chance seeing as how their efforts in improving Ruby weren't enough.
Weiss complained that despite her tutoring, Ruby's grades are average at best and below at worst. She quickly realized that Ruby is enrolled two years her grade level so it's difficult for her.
Yang pointed out that Ruby's unarmed skills are abysmal and Yang's teachings aren't getting a grasp on her mind. Ruby prefers using her Crescent Rose instead of trying other types of attacking.
Naruto listened to both girls and said to them. "I'll talk to my teammates and see what I can do about helping Ruby with her school."
Naruto went back to Team 7's dorm and discussed Ruby. All of them agreed that she had a mountain load of potential and they are willing to help.
Naruto decided to have Hinata teach Ruby academics, replacing Weiss while Sakura would tutor Ruby in hand to hand combat. Sasuke would be observing and give reports to Naruto. Naruto himself would be teaching Ruby strategic fighting.
Naruto went to Team RWBY's dorm and informed everyone of the schedule. Ruby was worried about how the entire Team 7 would have to juggle between school work, friends and personal time but Naruto assured her that they have been doing this since third year.
Weiss studied alongside Ruby as Hinata became her tutor. Ruby listened to Hinata with clear attention as Hinata broke down the complex explanations in simpler form. Hinata also tested Ruby in every book she completed using cards which give simple explanations with Weiss listening.
Hinata had been observing Weiss' tutor sessions with Ruby and found it beyond her reasoning how Ruby put up with Weiss' overbearing, judgmental and perfectionist attitude. She decided to do it in a gentle but firm manner which paid off. Ruby secretly had had enough of Weiss' way of tutoring her and was pleased with this breath of fresh air.
Weiss witnessed this and was happy that Ruby's grades improved significantly thanks to Hinata's tutoring and Ruby has been paying attention more often in class, passed tests with flying colors and even received praise from the other teachers Port, Oobleck, Peach and even Professor Goodwitch commented that Ruby could top her classes.
Next up was Ruby's unarmed training which Sakura was in charge of. Sakura got down to basics and then moved on to the next lesson. She knocked down Ruby plenty of times but what impressed her was Ruby's determination in not giving up and getting back up. Sakura would teach her other unarmed techniques in knockdowns, disarming, extreme assault and all other things.
Ruby found Sakura to be a strict but fair teacher who won't hesitate to give out criticism but gave out praises when she felt like Ruby deserved it. The two would spar and while Ruby came out the loser, Sakura would give out an honest assessment on what areas Ruby should improve on which she did. Sakura also made sure to improve Ruby's rather weak endurance but was told by Naruto that there is no need to change Ruby's stature. Sakura studied Ruby's body and noted that he was right: she was meant to be built aerodynamically as if it was nature's purpose for her. Sleek and lean muscles were just fine, no need for bulk and muscle. Ruby's stamina is good and can be only slightly better.
While Ruby and Sakura were sparring, Yang asked. "You think that the training Sakura gave to Ruby is harsh?"
Naruto scoffed. "That was nothing compared to how SHE was trained. Sakura's sensei was quite a taskmaster. She would give out harsh commands, made her read plenty of healing scrolls, heck she even broke Sakura's ribs and bones. She made Sakura punch boulders she threw at her until her knuckles end up bleeding. You think the training she gave to your sister was harsh? Sakura's makes this look like a simple jogging session."
Yang nodded, looking at the spar. "I'm noticing that Sakura is holding her punches back unlike Ruby. She doesn't seem to apply power to them."
Naruto replied. "Yeah well, Sakura has super strength and believe me when I tell you that when it comes to spars in school, she had to hold back A LOT. One super powered punch from her and this entire school would've been a pile of rubble in under five minutes."
Yang can only nod. The spar ended in Sakura's victory but Ruby managed to hit Sakura in the face with a kick and it made Sakura impressed greatly.
Naruto taught Ruby using an Animus and made her relive the lives of many different soldiers who were merely training in an obstacle course. She was then tested to try out different types of firearms and even melee with a knife. She also tried our many different scenarios from stealth to full assault to operating a vehicle and so on and so forth.
Naruto explained to Weiss that training using an Animus can turn years of constant practice into a span of few days which fascinated her.
Naruto played with Ruby on different strategy games and realized that Ruby indeed has a gift for tactical planning though it was slightly surpassed by Jaune Arc by one percent, hers was nothing to scoff at and that's why Team RWBY was currently the top team of this school with Team JNPR being second.
After Naruto taught her how to play his games, Ruby easily soaked them like a sponge. Ruby's strategies helped her plenty of times against Naruto's experience playing them. She would lose but Naruto assured her that losing is just as important as winning as she can learn from them and recover. Ruby took that advice to heart.
Weiss and Yang are happy to know that thanks to Team 7's influence, their leader has significantly improved and things are sure to look up for Ruby.
That is until Naruto came to speak to Ruby.
"I know that it sounds strange but I'd like you to hear me out for a bit Ruby." Naruto explained. "As you may or may not know, your father had a technique capable of instantly moving to any location marked with a seal. It's actually similar to your Semblance but without the roses and all. He also knew the technique which took him three years developing. I'd like you to learn this techniques which would prove to be invaluable for you Ruby."
Ruby nodded. "I'm ready. When do we leave?"
"We are going to another world that's basically a barren wasteland by now but the place we're going is still intact. Follow me and Sasuke'll take us there."
Ruby turned to her teammates. "See you guys. Judging from what Naruto had said, I won't be coming back for a while."
They agreed and Ruby went with Naruto to Sasuke who used his Kamui to transport them to a different world...
Ruby and Naruto arrived at a different world and it shocked Ruby to see that this place is basically a white desert with little to no essentials needed to sustain life. Dust storms can be seen and cities reduced to rubble or basically abandoned.
"Welcome to the Elemental Countries or at least what's left of it." Naruto introduced. "Long ago, my people warred each other for power, resources, glory and all that nonsense until Salem and Kaguya Otsutsuki allied their forces and attacked the humans. The humans quickly banded together and fought back against the two goddesses. One massive battleground but the humans -aided by heroes and a few gods among them- succeeded in defeating Kaguya and repelling Salem away from the world. Once the threat has been removed, peace has come and the villages became industrialized but when they did, the land became polluted and it forced the villages to evacuate the Countries and live in outer space within colony ships. To this day, they are still searching for a land to call their own."
Ruby asked. "Is this where you were born?"
"Correct. I was born after the villages evacuated their people and the land polluted. Believe me when I tell you that growing up here was a struggle. Supplies were scarce and there's few people to aid you. My mother and I did our best to raise you until she passed and I gave you to your uncle." Naruto handed Ruby a gas mask. "Wear this, I doubt you'd survive the polluted air. There's no need for me since my lungs have adapted to it."
He held out an arm as he shouted to her that dust storms can mitigate their eyesight. They walked passed the wastelands until they saw a ruined city. They eventually found a mansion that is surprisingly intact despite the ruin around it.
Naruto and Ruby walked to the gates where Naruto said. "This here's the Namikaze mansion. Your father wanted to settle down and raise you with your mother had they both lived. I'm afraid this where I stop. From this point on, you're on your own."
Ruby asked. "Why?"
"There are seals in place to block out any intruders long before I was even born. They will only allow someone of Namikaze blood or anyone related to the Namikaze by marriage to enter. I have never got the opportunity to enter the mansion and as a consequence, I will have no idea what you'll be facing there. All I can tell you is good luck."
Ruby nodded. "See you later Naruto."
Ruby went inside the mansion proper and that was the last he saw her...
Few days after Ruby went inside, Naruto saw Weiss, Blake and Yang approaching. Yang wasted no time in saying. "Where's my sister?"
Naruto waved his arm to the mansion and Yang demanded. "You didn't go with her?"
"Not because I wanted to but I couldn't. There are seals on the gates and they don't permit to enter."
Blake questioned. "So if you can't enter the mansion but Ruby can? How could she do it?"
Naruto answered. "Let's just say that it's within her blood that the seals recognize. All we can do is wait for her."
(With Ruby)
Ruby entered the mansion and saw everything covered in plastic for preservation. Everything perfectly well preserved and withstood the test of time. Ruby found the scroll library and pick up the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Rasengan scrolls. It took her nearly a week from constant trial and error to master it but she did. As for the Rasengan, she practiced using a water ball and a wind ball. After several failures, she finally mastered using it.
She walked to a room which she assumed to be her father's and entered. Remarkably preserved and as she walked around, she noticed a triple-prong kunai at a display case and touched the glass. Something activated and it revealed Minato Namikaze himself.
The blonde man wearing a green flack jacket and blue pants recognized her as his daughter and praised her for finding this place and he knew that she mastered both of his abilities in such a short time. He then unlocked the display case and bestowed his kunai to her believing that she is ready and disappeared. Ruby felt happy to meet her father even though it is merely a short time.
When Ruby exited the mansion, she saw her team and Naruto waiting for her. Weiss commented. "I can see that you've a new acquisition. A kunai?"
Ruby nodded then Yang groaned out. "Finally! Sis is back and let's get the heck out of this wasteland!"
Everybody agreed and Naruto contacted Sasuke to pick them up.
(A day later)
Things ran smoothly more or less and it all came to a head when Professor Goodwitch announced Ruby Rose vs Pyrrha Nikos.
Yang didn't seem confident that Ruby could win against the Invincible Girl but Naruto kneeled to Ruby and said to her. "I can that you're nervous. Don't be. If you survived Sakura's training sessions, you can survive this. Plus whatever you learn back at the mansion can be put into good use here. It's time you show everyone what you're made of! I believe in you and your team believes in you!" Then he looked over Ruby's shoulder and glared at Yang. "Right?"
Yang quickly replied. "Yeah sis! What he said! I believe in you and I think I speak for Weiss and Blake when I say that they're confident that you can succeed."
Naruto said to Ruby. "You've gotten better thanks to us, now you show us the fruits of our labor. You win this thing and we'll be proud that our efforts'll pay off. Good luck and stay confident."
Ruby felt confident and nodded. She went off to face Pyrrha who said to her. "I know that you are younger than me but you must understand that I cannot go easy on you."
Ruby replied while taking out Crescent Rose. "I don't expect you to."
Ruby and Pyrrha fought and when it seems that Pyrrha is gaining the upper hand due to her sword and shield style countering Ruby's scythe, Ruby pulled back a couple of steps and to everyone's surprise, threw Crescent Rose in all its scythe fury at Pyrrha who blocked the attack thanks to her shield and Semblance.
What Pyrrha didn't know until it was too late was that this attack was merely a distraction for Ruby to throw her kunai near Pyrrha and the next thing anyone saw of her was that she was above Pyrrha and slammed a bluish wind ball at her back, plummeting the amazon to the ground.
Everybody was stunned while Naruto let out a proud smile.
Ruby decided to use one of Sakura's techniques and bend Pyrrha's right arm in a painful manner. Although Pyrrha managed to elbow Ruby's head despite her position, Ruby maintained her vice grip on the right arm just as Sakura taught her.
When the grip became very painful, Pyrrha cried out in pain. "OKAY! OKAY! I YIELD! I YIELD! UNCLE! UNCLE!"
Goodwitch announced. "Ruby Rose wins!" Honestly impressed by how far her youngest student had improved.
Everybody was in awe at how the Invincible Girl was defeated by someone younger than her and those techniques were nothing they ever seen before!
Team RWBY and Naruto ran to Ruby where Weiss exclaimed. "You just humiliated and defeated Pyrrha in single combat! You just did what nobody else has done to Pyrrha! I'm amazed by your performance today!"
Blake added. "Those techniques...nobody has ever seen them before nor had I heard anyone try out those moves you did...that's really impressive."
Yang grabbed her sister in a bear hug. "That's one heck of an arm twister you did there sis! Sakura's training help you lots and I'm happy for you!" Ruby hugged back.
After Yang released Ruby, she walked up to Naruto and beamed at him. "Did you see what I did there, Naruto?"
Naruto kneeled to her level and answered with a proud smile and equally proud voice. "Yeah. Yeah, I saw."
