Chapter 3
Present day...
Several things had arisen after Melinda became The Guardian, mostly concerning Steve Rogers which caused her to now have two guarded secrets from her older brother. Steve Rogers and Melinda had started dating, and Melinda found she truly liked Steve Rogers. He was sweet, kind and mannerly.
They had gone out to dinner and also out dancing, but they also went for long strolls in the park.
However, one night when she invited him in for coffee and something to eat, she never expected to be summoned while Steve was there.
She put the coffee pot on and her one cat came into the kitchen.
"You are needed Melinda." The cat said as her widened then.
She mouthed 'NOW' and he nodded.
"Bad timing," she mumbled.
"Were you talking to me?" Steve asked.
"Huh, oh no." she said with a smile.
"Come on, Melinda, you can flirt with your boyfriend later." The cat replied sarcastically.
Silence as Steve heard the loud forceful meows from her one cat.
"Boy, he's a talker, isn't he?" Steve said.
"You have no idea," she replied. "I'll be right back, okay?" she replied as she gave him a rather sexy kiss. "Hold that thought." She whispered.
"Mmm, okay." Steve managed through a gasp from the strength of the kiss.
Melinda headed for her bedroom and the double glass door that led to her balcony. She climbed onto the railing and flipped off landing on her feet. By then her Guardian outfit had appeared on her body and she ran off to stop the bad guys once more.
But sometimes fighting takes some time and in this situation, it took a great deal of time. In the meantime, Steve sat in the kitchen sipping coffee and realized Melinda had gone off somewhere was puzzled as to why?
Until, Tiffany came into the apartment and saw Steve Rogers and her eyes widened.
"Steve Rogers you and Melinda have a date today?" she asked.
"We did she seems to have disappeared though." Steve remarked as he studied her reaction.
"Oh, she did?" Tiffany asked as she tried to get passed Steve.
"Tiffany, what is going on?" Steve demanded as they both heard something coming from Melinda's bedroom.
Steve was up quicker than Tiffany could imagine and he got into the bedroom as Melinda came in from the balcony. Steve's eyes widened at her outfit and mask.
"Melinda?" Steve asked as her head snapped up.
"Steve, I can explain." She replied.
"Alright," he said as he saw her normal clothes just appear on Melinda.
Melinda explained everything to Steve and begged him not to tell anyone especially her brother. Steve laughed slightly which confused her.
"Why are you laughing?" she laughed.
"Like I am going to tell him anything besides we have another secret from him." Steve replied.
She looked up at him then.
"Oh, and that is what?" Melinda asked.
"Us." Steve said as he pulled her close and kissed her.
Tiffany rolled her eyes and started to leave the room.
"Uh, get a room." Tiffany mumbled.
Melinda ran her finger through Steve's hair.
"Thank you," she whispered between kisses.
"Don't worry about it," Steve replied as he picked her up and sat on a chair with Melinda on his lap.
Meanwhile at Stark Tower where the Avengers are now...
Tony paces as Scarlett Witch, Spiderman, Thor, Bruce Banner, War Machine, and Black Widow along with Hawkeye watched him slightly amused. Nick Fury walks in which doesn't seem to thrill anyone else.
"What's wrong?" Black Widow asked.
"There's someone else in town." Fury replied.
"Oh, you heard?" Tony asked in his typical sarcastic tone.
"We don't know if she is a true ally or not." Fury remarked.
"Oh, she's a female?" Bruce asked.
Fury glanced over at him as well as Tony who showed them the footage someone caught on a phone.
"It appears she can talk to animals." Scarlett Witch noted.
"It doesn't matter she is muscling in on the Avengers turf." Tony replied.
"You believe she isn't an ally when she is helping others?" Thor asked with a strange expression on his face.
"We don't know her motives which means we need to bring her in and have a pow wow." Tony replied.
"You mean unmask her, don't you?" War Machine mused.
Tony looked at his friend then with a cocky smile.
"By gosh, he's got it." Tony remarked.
"Is that really necessary?" Spiderman asked.
Tony glared at him then.
"I'm just saying I wouldn't want to be unmasked like that." He said.
"We have to know and it's better we do it than some civilian stumble upon her being not a good guy at all." Fury responded.
"Alright, we need to do this and everyone needs to be onboard with this." Tony replied as all the others raised their hands Spiderman wearily agreed.

Tiffany glanced at Steve then and started to talk a mile a minute.
"Steve, can I meet Bucky?" Tiffany asked.
Steve glanced over at her while he tightened his hold on Melinda's hand.
"Please..." Tiffany begged.
Steve glanced at Melinda who just shrugged.
"She's just going to keep at you until you give in." Melinda replied.
Steve playfully growled.
"Alright," Steve finally said.
"Is he single?" she asked.
Steve finally gave her that look like what, how the hell should I know?
"What have I gotten myself into?" Steve asked playfully as Melinda leaned in and kissed him roughly.
"Mmm, who knows Steve you are most definitely in trouble now." She replied as Steve's eyes were closed by then as he was reacting to the kiss.
Both blissfully unaware of what Tony and the other Avengers were planning...
