Chapter 6
Tony was beyond terrified his sister was dying for all he knew. And, he seemed helpless to stop it from happening just as he was with their parents.
"Damn it, we need to do something!" Tony shouted as Fury knelt beside Tony and Melinda.
"We need to stop this blood from gushing out of her nose." Fury remarked as Vision moved closer.
"Perhaps I can help by using the gem," Vision replied as Tony glanced up a desperate expression shining in his eyes.
"It won't hurt her, will it?" Tony asked.
Vision merely shook his head.
"It might be wise to hold her regardless." Vision replied as Tony did so along with Steve.
Tony and Steve nodded that they were ready which signaled Vision to use the gem. The second Vision used the gem however, Melinda screamed and arched up in agony.
"She's in pain, STOP!" Tony and Steve shouted.
"I only wanted to help, Mr. Stark." Vision stated.
Silence...
"I know, it's not your fault." Tony said as his hand slipped into his sister's when she stopped screaming and settled down.
Silence...
"I can't lose her too." Tony replied.
"You won't lose her, Tony, we will all work on this." Fury remarked firmly.
Tony was no fool though something was wrong very wrong with his sister. They had no idea who these beings were and what their true agenda was for Melinda. She was still unconscious with blood still coming from her nose although it was not as profusely as before.
Steve was angry now with himself that he didn't say something to Tony about this and told him so.
"Sorry, I should have spoken up about this." Steve said as Tony glanced up at him.
"I know she can be a force of nature and you only were trying to be a good boyfriend to her. I know, Cap, I do." Tony replied as Fury got the bleeding to stop completely.
"I would suggest getting her into the lab, Stark, now." Fury replied as Tony nodded.
Tony picked her up and followed Fury out of the room. The others followed but remained silent as Wanda looked very sad as Melinda was a friend to her.
"Will she be alright?" Wanda asked Fury.
"We are going to try like hell to make her alright." He said as his gaze looked with Thor. "Do you know of anyone that could have the power to do this?" Fury asked as Thor's expression darkened.
"Yes, and I shall seek them out." Thor said with a firm but angry tone as he left.
Melinda suddenly still being unconscious started to throw up blood.
"Get her on her side or she'll choke to death!" Steve ordered his eyes showing the fear he had of losing her just as Tony's did.
Meanwhile at a secret location...
Several men are seated while their leader abruptly walks out, a very well-known villain to Steve Rogers and the others... Red Skull.
"The Other have our enemies distracted which is what we want as soon as it's finished he can start his secondary plan." Red Skull remarked.
"Sir, but Loki failed and was beaten down by the Avengers." One of the men stated.
"Where he failed we shall succeed." Red Skull answered.
Where Thor is...
Thor found Loki and proceeded to toss him around mercilessly.
"What do you know of the metal man's sibling? And careful how you answer, brother I am not in a gaming mood." Thor demanded.
Loki tried to fight back but could tell Thor meant business this time.
"Answers brother, he is my friend." Thor snapped.
"Alright, I know not the main one behind it but The Other was behind summoning up two beings to trick her into accepting." Loki explained.
"Why, she is an innocent?" Thor demanded.
"She was merely a pawn." Loki said.
"She is sick now. How can we stop that?" Thor demanded.
"I know not what can be done," Loki answered.
Silence...
"You're coming with me," Thor growled as he disappeared with Loki.
The Avengers headquarters...
Fury had injected something into Melinda and she stopped throwing up. She was still unconscious and both her brother and boyfriend were upset scared of losing the one person that had meant the world to them.
