Chapter 2: Lost Memories

. . .

. . .

. . .

Continent of Ishgar, Country of Fiore, City of Magnolia

"Urgh. Where. . .where am I. . ." Natsu picked his head up, looking around the room he was in from half-opened eyes. His hands were tied in front of him by thick metal cuffs that ran up from his wrists to his elbows.

"Magic-Restraint Cuffs huh. Smart move after what went down. This doesn't look like a Council cell though. The chairs aren't half as comfortable. Hell there aren't even chairs there to begin with." He tried to stand up but noticed the second pair of cuffs around his ankles, holding him pressed up against the chair's legs. "Did they take me back to their guild? They must have huge amounts of empathy."

Yes, Natsu. Just how I like them, naive and overly trusting. As soon as they take these cuffs off let me come out and take all of their souls.

"I'm not letting you out again for a while you crazy bastard. So get cozy in there with Azazel and Samael. Play some cards or something but stop making my day worse." He quieted as he heard motion behind the door. The handle turned to reveal Mirajane and Erza again. They walked in quietly, behind them standing a small bald man with a large white mustache. He held his hands behind his back, looking at Natsu without any visible expression on his face.

"Good, you're up. Now, tell me young man, what business do you have in this nation? Especially doing a job for a government that has a 30,000,000 Jewel prize on your head." His voice filled the room up, enhanced by Magic.

"I already told Erza and Mirajane what my deal is. I was revived a couple years ago after going into a century-long sleep. I can't really answer your question of why they still insist on putting a prize on my head other than the stroke their egos. Look, I used to be a mercenary for the Magic Council of Fiore before voting was a thing in any nation. I decided to call it quits and pursue other goals I had in mind but they refused to let me go. So I left by force and they unleashed all of their most powerful weapons on me. . .the Etherion Cannon and F.A.C.E. Long story short, I sort of died. Temporarily."

"What the hell are you saying, boy? I've never heard of you. And if you died for a century, how does the Magic Council even remember you?"

"The Council has its own methods of keeping track of threats. I didn't expect them to remember me either or know I was alive by my magical signature, but here we are." He sighed, moving his ankles the most he could as the cuffs were digging into his skin.

"That still doesn't explain the power you showed us—the so-called King of Dreams you summoned who knew Mira's demons. What about all of that, including the massive amount of power you showed in that form?"

He smiled, looking over at Mira following Erza's question.

"I think she can explain that one for you guys." Mirajane smiled, tilting her head to the side as they all looked at her intently.

"When demons experience near-fatal or fatal experiences, they seek out a human soul to devour and body to inhabit with their own soul. When that human has too much Magic Power compared to the demon in its weakened state, the Take-Over phenomenon occurs where both co-inhabit the same mind and the human and demon come to establish how they can take turns using the flesh that their souls now inhabit. I'd imagine that when you almost died, the demon you summoned decided to inhabit your body, realizing you had immense capacity but were weakened, which is why he can still take full control of you when you used the Take-Over, rather than you commanding most of what happens. The pact you two formed was in his favor, meaning it was after your own near-fatal experience that he also experienced his own and found your body readily available. That about get it?"

Natsu could only nod.

"You know your shit. With more than one demon in you I'd hope so, though. However, there is one flaw in what you said. I wasn't possessed when I almost died. The demon experienced his loss of power before me, and as soon as F.A.C.E eliminated all the Magic in me and the surrounding land, he inhabited my weakened body and managed to keep me alive after Etherion was fired at me via the power of Curse, which is different from Magic and wasn't affected by F.A.C.E."

"Curse. . .I've heard of that power. It's said to be power that only powerful demons possess—something toxic to the human body. It shouldn't be possible for your demon to have used Curse without killing you or poisoning you greatly."

"I don't know what to tell you, old man. It's what I remember from my last moments before I fell asleep for so long." The man continued eyeing him, narrowing his eyes at Natsu.

"Look, I don't mean to stir up any trouble. Thank you for not killing me already when I was unconscious and I'm sorry again for what happened during our battle, but if I could get going and stop bothering your guild, that'd be fine." Natsu dropped his shoulders, closing his eyes as he sighed again.

"Erza, take care of the cuffs on him." She nodded at the small man, drawing a small key to undo the restraints on Natsu.

"Don't make us regret letting you go boy. If you decide to cause mayhem again, the whole of the guild of Fairy Tail will be hot on your trail this time, not just these two. I promise you won't be able to deal with all of us combined. Our power is only amplified when we work together as a family." Natsu smiled at the man's words.

"Family. That's something I haven't heard in so long. I don't even remember mine. I think I had a brother. He had brown hair—or maybe it was black. But he was always so smart and loving. I wonder what happened to them." He looked up at the ceiling, trying to reconcile whatever details he could muster in his mind. There was a haze in his memories; a veil that wrapped around those of his past life before even becoming a mercenary.

"You don't even remember your own family? How does that happen, boy? Were they killed?"

"I don't know. I don't seem to remember much from before my time as a mercenary-for-hire. My time as a child seems to be much older than that—perhaps even centuries older."

"How did you draw upon immortality then?"

"I don't know." The man touched his hand to his chin, unsure of whether to trust the supposed criminal or not.

It was Mirajane who spoke first, "Well then why don't you stay here for the time being? You need a family and we're always open to anyone that needs support in their life." Natsu's eyes widened at her request. He unclasped his hands, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up.

Family? After all this time alone. He wouldn't know what to do.

"Is that fine with you two?" She looked over at Erza and the small man.

"If Guild Master Makarov is okay with it, then I have no other choice but to agree with you two." Erza nodded her head. All eyes turned to Makarov as he hummed quietly.

"You won't come on as a guild member until we know you aren't hostile, but you can stay here as long as you need until you can get on your own two feet and we can help resolve your issues with the Council. We're a well-known guild and have done many many jobs for the Council. We should be able to gather an audience with them to review your status as a criminal before we can make you a guild member. But we'll need to build up some form of track record before we can bring you to them without them automatically jailing you. You can take this option or go back to doing odd jobs and whoever you know in the Council covering up for you as long as they can until you're both caught."

"I'll take you up on it gramps. I'm tired of sleeping on tree branches or questionable motels. I'll do my best to help you guys and try to liberate my name. As well as for all the pain I caused you two. I know having your soul corroded can hurt like hell."

"Great! So it's decided! You can stay with me at my house Natsu!"

"What?!" Makarov and Erza's jaws dropped at Mirajane.

"Of course, guys. It was my idea so he should be my responsibility. I don't want to put a strain on the guild's resources because of the grace of my heart, so I'll give him housing and food." The she-demon smiled at them, taking Natsu by the arm as she began to walk out of the room with him in tow.

"She's not going to try and make him her newest toy, is she?" Makarov looked up at Erza smiling brightly.

"Perhaps. You know how she is with any new pretty thing she lays her eyes on. And this is an exceedingly pretty thing."

"Erza, you don't happen to also want him for yourself now, do you? Wouldn't want Mirajane to find out and for a dangerous love triangle to emerge that would threaten other guild members' lives as you two duke it out in bathing suits, now, wouldn't we?"

"Are you getting off on this, you old geezer? No, I don't. He's dangerous and I still don't trust him as far as I can throw him." Makarov's smile instantly dropped, his expression turning grim and his voice coming out low.

"Keep an eye on him, Erza. Make sure Mira is safe as well. I know she can hold her own, but from what you two told me, he could very well kill all of us here if he were to lose control again. Especially without two more of our strongest here. Be careful." Erza nodded at him, watching as Natsu and Mira waved as they passed everyone who were excited to meet him.

"Elfman! This is Natsu Dragneel. He's going to be living with me for the time being as we try to clear his name of any crimes!" A huge tanned man with white hair turned around, looking down at Natsu and Mirajane. He had to measure at least 7 feet and had arms like those of a bodybuilder even at his height.

"Sis! You're taking another man to your house again? At least this one looks like more of a man than the last one! Haha!" He grabbed a keg of alcohol as he laughed, quickly downing copious amounts of beer as soon as it touched his lips.

Mirajane was blushing intensely. "Excuse what my brother said! I used to have a partner that I got pretty serious with, but it turned out he was just in it for my name as a model and for bragging rights. He's drunk so things come out mixed up!" She tried to laugh off the embarrassment but Natsu simply smiled at her.

"Don't sweat it Mira. You're beautiful so I wouldn't be surprised if you had lots of men trying to go after you and get to know you. Especially with how nice you are." She blushed again, this time her eyes opening a little wider and a small smile adorning her face. "Thank you, Natsu." He couldn't help but blush as well, his breath halting as he looked at her face. It looked so. . .cute and he just couldn't help but want to put his hand on it and feel her soft skin.

"So, anyways, let's go so I can show you my house and where everything is. Do you have any belongings we should go back to the Crocus forest for?"

"No I'm poor."

"Oh, okay. Well let's get going then! Maybe we can buy you some more current clothes too."

"Wait what's wrong with my robes?"

"Oh, Natsu, those just make you look like a little kid that got into his grandfather's closet." Her words made his head fall. "I guess I need to get with the times." He dragged his feet as they walked, letting the insult get to him.

From a distance, Erza watched their interactions. She started glaring a hole through the wall as soon as she saw them both blushing at each other and staring at each other with, "loving eyes," as she would call it.

City of Magnolia, Mirajane's House

"Alright so here it is. Welcome to my humble abode. Make yourself at home." She put her hand on his back, lightly caressing it without noticing.

"You feel it too, then?" Natsu turned around, grabbing her hand with his own and placing it on his heart.

"Yes, I do. Erza can't tell yet but as a demon I know exactly what happened."

"We're both linked as our souls were both taken—even if only a fraction—by Azrael. You know more than you told them as well. . .why did you stay quiet?" She dropped her hand, walking forward to be almost touching faces with Natsu.

"I can't tell them about what's beyond Earthland and what's really inside you. I also don't know how Erza would fare knowing part of her belongs to Azrael and you."

"Smart thinking. I don't know how a woman as proud and stoic as her would respond either. This is why you trusted me so easily, then. You felt my heart and knew my intent wasn't to cause you any harm." He brought a hand up to her waist, placing it there softly, almost afraid of her reaction.

"Exactly." She looked down at it and pushed her body against his hand to cause more contact. "And I also thought you were so attractive from when I first saw you. I just had to have my way with you. Most men can't handle my demonic powers to their full extent. They're always so surprised when it extends even into the bed." She smiled and tilted her head to the side again. "It's honestly been a rough few years."

"You're making such an innocent expression even when talking like that, you amaze me."

"Do you think you can handle it, Natsu? You know how us demons are. I know you must be starving too. Being alone all that time." She licked her lips, bringing her mouth close to his ear.

"You have no idea, Mira." His hand on her waist tightened instantly, gripping into her skin as he pulled her body against his. Their lips locked instantly, moving with and tugging and pulling and scratching each other with a ferocity that it seemed like the first and last time they would ever get to do it.

Mirajane's purple aura began to emanate softly around her. A blood-red aura also emanated softly around Natsu, then a light blue one, then one of golden light, and a light purple one. They alternated colors around him, slowly combining with Mirajane's as the two's Magics began to merge in the moment.

He hoisted her up on the counter, grabbing her breasts roughly through the thin cloth she had over it. She exhaled loudly as he did it. Her breath stopped as he began pulling the dress up and kissing up her inner thigh.

"You know just where every right place is, huh?" She got out the words between sharp inhales and exhales, grabbing him by the hair and pushing his face towards the middle.

"What. . .the. . .fuck." Erza's mouth hung once again, her Magic Power unknowingly rising as her magical aura began to emanate out of her. "They just met, dammit! How is she so willing to give him her body just like that? It doesn't make any damn sense." Erza clenched her armored fist, gritting her teeth as she couldn't keep her eyes away from the scene unfolding before her through the gap in Mirajane's curtains.

Her face got red and she felt like sweating, feeling as her heart tugged for her to go in and enjoy what was going on as well.

"Why the hell do I feel like this? Are these lasting effects of his mind-altering magic? What a perverted and abhorrent use of it if so. But no. . .he was unconscious, he didn't have the power left to keep up a spell like this. This is. . .this is something else. I'll let Mirajane have her fun as she's clearly unbothered by these feelings. I'll talk to her after she gets all that out of her system and after I do too." She glowed gold again, featuring a set of wings on her back as she took off back to her house.

Night-time had come and Natsu and Mirajane had already broken her mattress and left a dent in the wall behind the bedframe. They were not even keen on stopping yet. Mirajane couldn't even pay mind to the things they were breaking or the costs of repairs. All she could focus on was him and her demonic desires being satiated. Natsu hadn't felt such a rush when he was a human—sex never felt this good being purely human. Having the demons inside of him had changed him, he could see in what ways now other than not needing food or water anymore.

Erza was in her apartment up to much the same as them—only by herself. She didn't want a companion who wouldn't be able to sate her now-growing desires. They were starting to slowly become like Natsu and Mirajane's.

Changes she knew weren't normal.

Changes she attributed to both her and Mira having had their souls touched by the demon inside Natsu.

Another chapter back-to-back!

So yeah, this is rated M. This isn't a harem fic. Demons are just different from humans, and so are gods. Demons don't need to eat or drink like humans, but they do need other things. You'll see as you continue reading.

Expect the unexpected! I hope you enjoyed the chapter and look forward to the rest.
