Chapter 1:How An Autistic Kid And A Cowardly Dog Became Best Friends
An Autistic kid named Griffin never lived a happy life. He always gets ignored whenever he tries to tell people something. And when people do listen to him, there's always something stupid to happen like a surprise test. It can sometimes lead him to lose his temper. But he doesn't mean to lose his temper as he only wants to prove that he cares for his friends. Sadly, because of this, every friend he has breaks up with him. Now he has no friends to care for him. Little did he know that it's all about to change.
It all started in the middle of nowhere. There were a farmhouse that used to belong to an elderly couple named Muriel and Eustace. However, they have died and the only one in the house was a pinkish purple dog named Courage. The canine was always Cowardly cause there were scary monsters always visiting them. However, Courage was always there to save his owners from them. But now that they died, he didn't know what to do. This was especially sad when as he was a puppy, his parents were blasted into outer space. He was miserably sitting outside shedding tears.
Meanwhile, Griffin was walking down the street until he heard Courage's crying. He kept following the crying and found the Farmhouse. He saw the pink dog crying alone.
"Hi there." The kid said.
Courage would usually think that when visitors stop by, they would want to hurt his owners. But since Muriel and Eustace were dead….let's just say he didn't know what to do next.
So Courage decided to say "Hello."
"Whoa!" The kid said amazed. "You can talk?"
"Yeah." He said as he sheds tears.
"What's wrong?" Griffin asked.
"Nothing." The pink dog said.
"Doesn't sound like nothing." Griffin said.
Courage sighed then explained that he lost his owners who are now dead.
Griffin gasped and said "That's horrible! They must love you very much."
"Well, Muriel does. But not Eustace." Courage explained. "He frequently calls me "stupid dog", and takes great pleasure in scaring and messing with me whenever possible."
Griffin felt bad for the pooch and said "Did you tell anyone else about how Eustace treats you?"
"It doesn't matter, nobody listens to me, anyway, and everything I do is wrong." Courage said.
The key word "nobody listens to me," hit the autistic kid and Griffin said "I know what it's like when nobody listens to me. When people do listen to me, I lose my friends that way."
"Gee, that's terrible." Courage said hanging his head low. "At least you had friends, I never had friends at all."
Griffin and Courage then stared at each other and Griffin said "Maybe you can be my new friend?"
Courage said "Would you like to be my first friend?"
"I was asking something similar." Griffin chuckled.
The pink dog laughed with him.
Griffin offers a handshake and says "I'm Griffin."
"I'm Courage." Courage says taking his handshake and shakes his hand with his paw.
"Nice to meet you, Courage!" Griffin says happily.
"Same with you, Griffin!" Courage said wagging his tail.
"How would you like to be my best friend?" Griffin asked.
Courage tilts his head confused and said "I don't think I ever had a best friend."
"You do now!" Griffin said hugging the dog.
Griffin and Courage smiled knowing that they're going to be the best friends ever!
