Saturday

It was now the next day, I was already prepared to meet yuri. I was wearing a plain blue jeans and a basic brown shirt with some logo on it, nothing obscuring or subtracting or anything.

I waited near at the front door, just eagerly waiting. My room is clean, nothing out of the ordinary. All I have to do now is wait, yuri hopefully should be here any Minute.

2 minutes later, she isn't here. What if she doesn't want to come? Did she reconsider or maybe is me? No, she seems convinced to come over, she doesn't have an excuse to not come.

I kept waiting, but then my mom spoke to me.

"Simon, you still waiting for your guest?"

I turned my head to her.

"uhh, yeah. She seems to be late."

"she?"

Oh great, I accidentally spit it out.

"so a girl is coming over, that's... Pretty nice."

I sigh in groan, not willingly to look at her.

Yes, I know. She's just a friend, okay?"

"y-yes, I understand. It just, you don't explain to me the friends you make, like who they are."

"I thought I did, I told you the people I met in the literature club."

"Ohh, so is one of the them from the club. That's nice sweetie."

"ugh, can you not call me that..."

My friend is coming over, I don't want her to embrassed me in front of her or anything. Which is why I never invited sophie over.

"okay, sorry. But, ain't she supposed to be here?"

"mom, let me worry about this, okay?"

"okay..."

I guess I said a little bit harsh, my mom walks away before I could apologize. I certainly hope I don't act like an ass toward her.

I waited again for another minute, nothing. I had it, i'm gonna wait for her outside. I know that this is a stupid plan but I just need to look out for her.

I went back to my room and pull out my hoodie, it was my orange hoodie I have. The night when I got into that accident I never wear that hood, the grey hood. It brings back bad memories about it, so I toss it away, never looking back.

I put it on and went out and call out to mom.

"mom! I'm going out to see if she's coming!"

"oh!? Well, be careful out there!"

"I will!"

I exit my house and was outside. Just as I thought, it was kinda chilling out here. Yuri should be here soon I hope, I wish she'd told me her address and I could of come to her. I still waited for a moment and decided to move down the left side of the sidewalk, I waited to see if she's coming.

I continue rolling down the sidewalk and decided to go across the street to the other sidewalk. I did as I continue on, now reaching the end of the sidewalk. Right when I was reaching it, a person suddenly came around the corner and stop when he saw me.

"Whoa! Sorry!"

The man apologized, I wasn't expecting this either as I apologized as well.

"ah, is alright!"

I stared at him, his appearance was different compared to everyone I have seen. His hair was brown, he wears mostly black clothes with a jacket that has the number 45 and letters that say EA. There was also white lines going down each of his sleeves and even on the side of his pants.

We stare at each other for a second, until he spoke.

"well, sorry again, i'll be going."

He walks pass me as i eyed him but ge didn't walk far, he stops suddenly and said.

"Hey, you look familiar..."

"huh?"

I turned my chair to see him better, he turbs to me.

"i know this sounds absurd, but did i seen you before?"

He looks genuinely curious, i don't blame him, a second look and he does strike familiarity. But, i don't recall seeing him before, not that i remember.

"uhh, i don't think so...?"

"huh..."

He look slightly disappointed but quickly changed and look at me.

"sorry, i know this is weird. I'll be going now."

"hey wait."

He stops when i said that, i don't know why i'm having a conversation with him but somethings is bothering me about him.

"Where you from? I know is personal but... I think i did seen you."

He looks at me, just trying to figure me out, but spoke.

"Sweden."

I gasp softly, i wasn't expecting that answer.

"Oh... I-i'm from sweden as well."

"really? Well, that's nice to hear, i guess..."

"y-yeah."

An awkward silence build between us, he spoke up.

"hey, i really need to get going, someone is waiting for me..."

He's about to turn around but i want to know one last thing.

"Hey."

"what?"

He turns to me and impatiently.

"what's your name?"

"...David."

"oh... Well, my name's simon."

"okay, is nice meeting you, but i must be going. Bye."

He turns and wave his hands up and walks away, i didn't said my goodbyes. I watch him walk away until i heard a familiar voice.

"simon?"

This made me surprised as i gasp which made her surprise as well.

"ah! I'm sorry i shouldn't have snuck up on you like that."

I turned to her and saw her wearing a nice outfit: She wears a cream brown sweater and a long black spandex. Which really leaves a lot for imagination. She also carries a black shoulder bag.

I quickly reassure her.

"is fine, just wasn't expecting you to come out of nowhere."

"oh, uh okay. Well, is nice to see you simon."

"you too..."

A sudden gushed of wind blows right at us as yuri's hair flow from behind her.

"oh, is pretty chilling out here. Should we go to your home?"

"uhm, yeah, yeah we should."

I turned my chair and moved on with yuri following behind. We cross the street as yuri decided to say.

"Simon, i know this may be personal, but can i ask who was that person you were talking to?"

I wasn't expecting her to asked me that question, i hoped she didn't know.

"uhh, he's just. Somebody, he's no one i didn't know. That's all."

"oh, okay. Sorry for asking."

"is okay yuri."

We were quiet until we reach my home, she looks at it and said.

"you have a nice home simon."

"yeah, did i told you i live with my mom?"

She looks at me, quite shocked.

"you live with somebody? Oh, umm, sorry for the sudden surprise, is just that i wanted to spend some time with you, as friends."

I sighed softly.

"you don't need to worry about my mom, she's, well...Nice, to say the least."

"oh, well i'm glad to hear that."

"right. Let's go in now."

Without my further hesitation i rolled up to my balcony and open my door, we entered as yuri close the door behind us.

"simon! Is that you?"

"oh boy..."

My mom walks through the kitchen and saw us, she was quite surprise to see yuri.

"oh, so you're Simon's friend?"

"uhm, yes, i am."

She smiles, i can't help but feel like she's seeing something different.

"oh okay, well is nice to meet you. Uh?"

"oh, yuri."

"yuri, that's a nice name."

She looks at me, i clearly wasn't okay with this.

"okay mom, well she's here to read with me, that's all."

"ohh, okay. I see you two wants some quality time with each other. I'll be in here just making some dinner, if you want any yuri?"

"uhm, no thanks. I'll be eating dinner at my home. I'm not going to stay too long."

"oh okay, well if anything happens, i'll be here."

She finally walks away, i felt slightly relieved as i turned my attention to her who was smiling a little wearily.

"you have a pretty thoughtful mom."

"right, she's always like that. Come on, let's go to my room..."

"oh great, i'm bringing a girl to my room, everything should be fine. Just as long yuri keeps her hands to herself it should be fine.

We entered my room as she glance around my room, she commented on it.

"simon, your room is pretty clean and a little small if i say."

"yeah, i know. Didn't want a bad first impression."

I snick slightly trying to make it as a joke, yuri seem to not pay it any mind.

"yes, sorry for judging simon."

"is alright."

"A-anyways,"

She swing the shoulder bag around her shoulder and open it up.

"We should start reading, i found a book that i figure you would like, in fact this is one of my favorites."

"okay."

She put her bag on the floor right in front of my table and then look uncertain.

"uhm, how are we going to read together?"

"oh, well uhh..."

Honestly i never thought this through, i'm stuck in this wheelchair and it's probably hard to read together like this.

Yuri looks downcast as i was uncertain as well.

"ohh, i didn't think this through..."

"is alright yuri, we can think this through..."

I looked at my bed, and came with one solution. Yuri though wasn't so fondly of this.

"ohh, but i should of thought of this further..."

"yuri, i got an idea."

I glance at my bed, she looks at it as well.

"How about we, sit together on my bed..."

Just the thought of this feels...Wrong. We shouldn't be this close while reading on the bed, it feels like an excuse to get closer to yuri. It just feels uncomfortable and unnecessary.

Yuri notice this solution and soon felt the same feeling as i was.

"oh, well, i i guess that could work..."

She clearly wasn't certain about this, maybe we should find a different way.

"hey, how we try something else?"

"no, i think this is a better solution. I thought of bringing a chair in here just feels strange and it might be uncomfortable for me."

"you saying that being closer to me feel less comfortable?"

Yuri face nearly turned red, she realized what i said and wasn't looking at me.

"I-i uhhh. I mean, that... Okay, if you insist on using a chair than i guess that could work."

"alright, then let's bring a chair in, but you got to ask my mom first."

"o-okay. I'll be back then."

Yuri left my room and head to my mom, i waited for a moment until she came back empty handed.

"what happened?"

"i told your mom, but she insist that dinner will be ready soon and the chairs should stay in the kitchen."

Ah you got to be kidding me, damnit mom. Okay, i guess this is going to happen.

"okay, then i guess i try to get on the bed..."

I roll myself to my bed as yuri walks to my bed saying.

"Sorry simon, i didn't know this'll be quite a predicament we got ourselves into."

"yuri, is okay. Let's just, try to keep some distance okay?"

She nod her head.

"okay."

I proceed to get on the bed which like always is a pain, yuri to my surprise offer a helping hand, i would reject the offer if i wasn't alright with it, but i accept her help.

"there, you okay simon?"

She sits right next to me, at least two inches away as i couldn't give it in me to look her in the eyes.

"uhh, yeah i-i'm okay..."

There was a brief silence between us as yuri remember the book.

"oh right, the book."

She got up and grab the book from my top desk and went back and sit right next to me. She looks at me as our face were really close to each other.

"ah...!"

She leans back a bit looking slightly embarrassed, she spoke up.

"So uh, you want to know what this book is about?"

"uh, yeah sure."

I find my will to look at her as she looks at me slightly.

"well, the book is about a survivor in a apocalypse like world where is crawling with beings that are unnatural to say the least."

"really? Well, that's, certainly interesting."

"yes, i'm really into it right now, and i hope it might get you interested as well."

I wasn't exactly sure, but if yuri likes it then it shouldn't be that bad. She is an expert after all.

"alright, let's start reading before dinner's ready."

"okay..."

She opens the book and we start reading chapter one. The story starts slowly and build up some suspense of stuff happening around our main character. I was already getting invested until we heard my mom.

"Simon! Can you help me real quick!?"

I groan displeasent as yuri was a little staggered from my groan.

"oh, it seems we have to stop there."

I was dismayed, i wanted to spend a little more time with yuri, but apparently i need to help my mom.

"Yeah... Sorry yuri, i'll be back."

"is okay simon i'll just wait here."

"right..."

My wheelchair was a little off away as yuri notice this and got off the bed and went to fetch it for me.

"oh, let me."

Yuri push it a little closer as i got myself on the chair and roll myself to the door.

"thanks yuri."

"is my pleasure simon."

I glance at her when she said that, the way she said that felt, nice. It kinda reminds me of someone. I leave my room and head to the kitchen, mom better have a good reason to have me help her.

I enter the kitchen and she was stirring in a pan. I reluctantly asked.

"what is it mom?"

"simon--"

She turns to me.

"I just need to know, what kind of spice you want in your pepper steak?"

I sigh, she really need to asked?

"You know, the usual."

I roll back while she said: "oh, okay."

I open the door to find yuri holding my knife above the drawer it was in, she was fixated on it as i was shocked to see this.

"yuri!?"

I quickly roll to her as she looked at me and was shocked as well, she yelped in surprise.

"yuri, let go of my knife!"

I reach and grab her wrist hardly as she drop my knife and she winch in pain and expressed it.

"Aaahh!"

I realize her discomfort and let go, she quickly pull her arm back holding on to her wrist. Yuri clinch her teeth like she's experiencing pain.

"ah, yuri i'm sorry, i didn't mean too--!"

I cut myself short, yuri looks sad and distraught.

"yuri?"

I-i'm sorry too."

She hastily grab her bag and book and quickly went out of my room, i struggle to get out of my room.

"yuri!"

"i'm sorry but i got to go, i'm late!"

Yuri exit my house as i barely got out of my room, i stare at the door as my mom lean out of the corner from the kitchen.

"oh my..."

I barely heard her, i close the door as i heard my mom asking me questions. I can't believe what just happened.

I was really distraught, i messed up again. I cuss out loud as i breathe hastily. I didn't know what went wrong, i just grab her wrist and she seems to be in pain.

Oh, i think i know why, i know that same feeling.

I remember my knife as i rotate my chair and was now staring at the knife on the ground. I lean over and pick it up and pull the blade out, it was stainless. I made sure there was no mark or stain, nothing.

I fold the knife and put it back in the drawer, closing it. I sighed, i really messed up big time.

"i'm sorry yuri."

This is all my fault, i shouldn't yelled, yuri is a very sensitive person and i just keep yelling at her. I'm such an asshole.

I need to make up for this, but i don't know how. Right now, it's just me in my room.

knocking*

"simon, are you okay?"

Mom, i forgot about her just now.

"mom, is, is alright..."

"do you want to talk about this?"

"no, i think i'll be okay."

"well, how about you come for dinner?"

I thought for a moment. might as well.

"...Okay."

I heard footsteps afterwards, i without haste left my room and head to the kitchen table. Food was already ready as it was a dinner for two.

"come, let's not keep your food waiting."

She said in a kind gesture, i roll up to it and started eating. We ate in slience for a while as my mom spoken up.

"simon, you sure you don't want to talk about it?"

I was quiet, i don't know, but i figure i should get an advice.

"mom, i don't know. How am i supposed to apologize to her, after hurting her."

"simon, you couldn't hurt her. You did apologize, ain't that enough?"

I shook my head slightly.

"no."

"oh..."

She looks down, in thought for a moment.

"if you really want your apology to mean it. Then maybe, give her an apology gift."

"what?"

I wasn't thinking too much about it, but it sounded a little too much.

"well, is a start."

She smile dearly at me, i was in thought, but I didn't know how to do it. But, my mom's right, it is a start.

"okay mom, i guess i'll try with that."

"good, then i can hand you some cash for the gift. I certainly hope you get her something nice."

"right..."

This feel like i'm getting her a gift out of, interest.

But right now, i do anything to show her i'm sorry, and no hard feelings.

Soon, i finished my dinner and went back to my room, i was wondering what to do in my spare time. Iooked at my drawer and remember my book, i hope is still there.

I went up to it and open it, and found it still there. I was greatful and decided to write down my problemsfor the today and leave it at that. Tomorrow i shouldn't dally, i need to go into town and found something suitable for yuri. Huh, my first time into town, it should be interesting.

I begin writing and let all of that thoughts in my head now on the sheet of paper.
