Chapter 2:Harold Finds A New Playmate

In New Orleans, a siamese cat known as Chester was reading his book. When suddenly, a st. Bernard named Harold appeared in front of him with a ball in his mouth.

"Hi Chester!" The dog said. Wanna play?"

"No, Harold!" The cat said annoyed. "I'm busy reading my book."

Harold whined in disappointment and left. He went through the pet door only to get stuck. He started to pull some of his big belly through then managed to get all of his belly through and finally got unstuck. He then proceeded to find someone else to play with.

Meanwhile, a dog connected to a cat was walking down New Orleans taking a vacation.

"I think it's a good idea taking a vacation here, Cat." The dog side said.

"I knew you'd agree, Dog." Cat said.

Cat then noticed Harold sad.

"Hey Dog, look at that dog." Cat said. "He seems sad."

Dog looked at Harold and said "Gee, you're right, Cat. Why are you telling me though?"

"Well, cause you're a dog, Dog." Cat said. "I think you should cheer him up. It's only right that a dog should help a fellow dog."

Dog thought for a minute and said "I guess you're right."

So Catdog walked up to Harold who was glum.

"Hi there." Dog said to Harold.

"Oh hi." Harold said sadly.

"What's wrong?" Dog asked.

"No one wants to play with me." Harold said.

Why?" Dog asked.

"I just don't have anyone to play with." Harold said shedding tears.

"Aww, I'll play with you." Dog said feeling bad for Harold.

Harold began to cheer up and says "Really? Thanks!"

Dog then turned to Cat and said "Is it OK with you, Cat?"

"Well, anything to cheer a dog up." Cat said.

Harold asked "Why are you talking to your butt?"

Harold then saw that Dog wasn't talking to his butt but a cat. The cat and dog were a creature called a Catdog. Harold was amazed.

"Wow! A cat connected to a dog." Harold said amazed. "I gotta tell Chester!"

"Who's Chester?" Cat asked.

"My best friend." Harold said. "Want me to show him to you?"

"We'd be glad to!" Dog said.

"I don't see why not." Cat said.

So Harold led Catdog to Orlock Apartments.

As they approached in front of the doggy door, Cat asked "You fit through that?"

"Not really." Harold said.

Harold began to go through the pet door first...or partially.

"Aw, I'm stuck!" Harold said whining.

"Well, I'm glad that never happened to us. Right, Cat?" Dog said.

"Well, there is one time….Never mind!" Cat said as he didn't want to share what happened the last time he and Dog got stuck.

Cat then asked "How about we push….uh….I'm sorry. I don't think we got your name."

"I'm Harold." The stuck dog said. "What are your names?"

"I'm Dog, and this is my brother Cat!" Dog said.

"A cat named Cat? And a dog named Dog?" Harold chuckled.

"Never mind that. Let's just push Harold." Cat groaned as he and Dog pushed the dog's big butt.

Soon, Catdog got Harold free and they were thin enough to enter the doggy door. Harold followed them and came across Chester was still reading his book.

"Hi Chester!" Harold said cheerfully.

"What now, Harold?" Chester groaned.

"I want you to meet my new friends!" Harold said.

Chester ends up reluctantly putting his book down and meeting Harold's new friends. But when Chester witnessed Catdog, he screamed and his book flew onto the floor in front of Catdog.

"Harold, what the heck is that freak?" Chester asked upset. "I'd have to deal with monsters because of Bunnicula. But something like this is taking it too far! Tell your new friends to get out!"

Cat picked up Chester's book and said "Say, I've read this book before."

Chester then said "I don't care, freak. Get ou...wait what?"

"Yeah!" Cat said. "I really enjoyed this book."

Chester smiled then said "No way! Me too!"

Chester looked at Harold and said "Harold, I'm sorry I misjudged your new friends."

"Does that mean they can be my friends?" Harold asked wagging his tail.

"Of course." Chester said patting Harold's shoulder.

So the cats and dogs stayed buddies forever!
