Sunday
It was the next day, I awoken a little late as I did my usual schedule. I went to the kitchen to see my mom sitting down, with a glass of juice. She noticed my present and smile at me.
"good morning simon."
"morning mom."
I simply said to her as I looked around and saw that mom didn't made breakfast.
"no breakfast?"
She was about to take a slip from her juice until I told her about breakfast.
"oh right, we don't have anything to make for breakfast today, so the only suitable one for breakfast is cereal."
"oh..."
I simply stated my understanding, but find this slightly unfortunate. My mom spoke again afterward.
"Simon, today you will be trying to find a apologize gift for yuri, right?"
I sigh softly, I knew she will bring this up.
"yeah, I will try. But I don't know what she'll like."
"oh, well she's part of a literature club, maybe something related?"
I thought for a moment, that might work.
"yeah, I think I could try there."
My mom smiled again.
"good, when you're ready to go out, I'll take you out when need be."
"actually mom, I like to go alone for now."
My mom looked quite surprise to hear that.
"what? Are you sure, this is your first time being out?"
I nod my head.
"yeah, I think i'll be fine."
My mom thought for a moment, she then glance at me.
"alright, just be careful okay?"
I nod my head again, agreeing to her statement.
"yeah, I will."
Soon after breakfast I simply prepare myself to go out, is quite chilly out so I'll be wearing my hoodie today. I went to my mom and told her that I'm ready.
"okay, let me get my wallet..."
She went off to get it, while I wait. It wasn't long until she's back and gave me 60 dollars for the gift.
"here's simon, I hope you find her something good."
"right..."
I still can't help but feel like i'm giving her a gift of admiration, but is simply an apology gift.
Shortly after I said my goodbyes to my mom and left the house.
Right where I leaved I felt the chilling air from outside, I know is fall but it's surprisingly cold out.
At first when I leaved the area from my home, I wonder where the town could be, but then I remembered the way we went to get here.
It was on my right side around the corner, thankfully we live close to town so i won't be going too far. I scroll down and turned right, it was a pretty peaceful day, a few cars drove by as I was crossing the street, the town shouldn't be that far.
It wasn't long until I notice multiple buildings and small buildings as well, I was then gazing outside the store, looking for a specific gift for yuri.
So far most of the stores were either antiques or even delis, but I hadn't found the right store. I kept looking until I heard a door open in front from my right side, i stopped and heard a familiar voice.
"eheh, I keep your word for that."
I saw monika and jo walking out of a building, I glance inside and it was a café. They were close as they turned to my direction and notice me soon after.
They were quite surprise to see me, I finally get to see what jo looks like: He looks different than anyone else, definitely american. I was right that he was starting to have facial hair, he has black hair, brown eyes, and his skin was slight brown but wasn't caucasian either.
He was the first to spoke.
"hey, simon, nice to see you here."
He smile a little which quickly became neutral, monika soon added her say.
"yeah, this is actually our first time meeting outside the club."
At first I didn't know what to say, but I added what was on my mind.
"uhh, yeah, same here. Uhm, what are you guys doing out here?"
"oh, jo said that he wanted to spend some quality time with me, and of course I agreed."
"yeah, we decided to go to her favorite cafe, she wanted coffee."
She giggle slightly while leaning her head to him.
"well, not just coffee but also some desserts."
"hm."
Jo was clearly fond of monika, usually i'll be upset being around couples but right now I don't have time to chat.
"uhh, that's great, but I need to go and find something."
Monika was curious.
"hm? Find what exactly?"
"is personal, it doesn't really involve you too."
"hmm?"
Jo hum while looking curious at me, why is he looking at me like that? Even monika was concerned.
"jo, is something a matter?"
This broke his concentration.
"ahh, sorry, I know this isn't right for me to pry into your business simon, but. Do you even know the area of this town?"
"uhh..."
How does he know that I don't know the area of these towns, is it that obvious?
"argh, is fine. All I'm doing is just, shopping that's all."
"shopping for what? Uh, sorry for asking but I'm just curious."
I look at them, I wasn't expecting them of all people to be interested in my interests today.
"*sigh* I'm just looking for a...Gift, for my mom."
This made them understanding but also a little surprised to hear.
"oh, you're looking for a gift for your mom, that's nice simon."
Ugh, jeez, do they really need to know about this?
"yeah well, I need to get going."
I was about to move around them until jo said.
"hey, i know this strange but. Can I help out?"
"what?"
Monika exclaim her confusion, which really say what I was gonna do. I said.
"what? Why would you want to help? Listen; I'm doing this by myself, I don't need your help."
I kinda said it bluntly, but I quickly reassure him.
"uh, b-beside, ain't you two on a date?"
"a date?"
They both said in unison as they stare at each other, soon their was a smile showing on their face and then they looked at me. Jo said.
"we're not on a date, we're just...Having quality time together."
"well, I guess you could consider it as a date. But, we do still have some stuff to deal with--"
She looks back at him.
"like: Go to the park, go to the mall and help me find some pants that'll fit me and later on you said you like to meet my parents."
He looks at her and smile dearly.
"and we will, it just..."
He looks back at me, I'm not sure I will like where this going.
"I want to get to know you more simon, I know it sounds strange coming from me, but, monika told me some things about you. So, why not? Please you don't have a clue where anything is so I can help."
I was expecting this, but I wasn't happy about it, monika seem to be a bit upset but slowly becoming understanding.
"you're really not gonna let this go, right?"
"I might, but I figure he need the help. Once you get the gift, I'll leave."
He smile with a small smirk, I would disagree with this, but I figure I have no choice, well I do but. I do need some help with directions to go.
"agh, fine. I guess you could come."
"hm, alright."
He turns his attention to monika.
"hey, it will hopefully be short, soo..."
"meet me at here again, i'll just be browsing through the stores here."
"okay."
They just smile at each other, this was starting to get on my nerves.
"okay, are you ready?"
He looks at me and backed away from her.
"yeah--" He looks back at her.
"see you hon."
"hm, see you jo."
They wave at each other as we finally depart, great I got a companion with me, this isn't what I imagined what this day will be, but hopefully it will be bareable.
We move on as we reach a crosswalk, I said to jo while moving.
"hey, why you really wanted to come? I could easily find stuff on my own, i'm used to it anyway."
He glance at me for a second, he's clearly thinking of what to say.
"I don't know, maybe because I want to spend time with you. I know that sounds strange but, believe it or not I don't have friends either."
I looked at him in questionable interest.
"you don't?"
"nope, I didn't even tell monika about this either. Well, obviously we just got into a relationship recently."
"huh..."
It was quiet between us, I was still bothered by this as we stop near a sidewalk corner.
"but why help me? Why not spend your time with her?"
"well..." He glance at me and looked at the ground.
"why not? You look like you need some help, if is a gift your looking for that is."
He looks around then back to me.
"what gift are you looking for?"
I remember what we're looking for as I said.
"do you know where we could find a library?"
"yeah, is uhh, across the streets."
He point forward across a wall as he said while moving to the left.
"come on, i know a short cut."
I shortly followed afterwards as we entered a park, it was a pretty large park with playgrounds near the left corner of the park and a long path across the park.
We continue on as he went down the long path, it was certainly chilly outside but it wasn't so cold. My thoughts were interrupted by jo speaking.
"you know, me and monika should take a walk in the park. It would be nice..."
I wonder about their relationship, I know is none of my business but what does monika sees in him.
"hey, why you and her are together?"
"huh?"
He looks at me for a second and back on the path, he was quiet for a second and said.
"huh, I was wondering when someone will ask me this."
He pause shortly afterwards and continues.
"I love monika a lot, it just feels like we met, or something. Weird right?"
He looks at me and back to the path.
"but that isn't the main reason. I like her because she's a wonderful person, a nice, kind, caring person. She's just wholesome to me, we have our likes and dislikes but it doesn't always get in the way. But every time I look at her, it always brighten me up."
He finished so I believed, all I simply said was.
"huh..."
My thoughts linger for a moment until I notice somebody near the bench, sitting all alone.
"huh?"
"what?"
He glance at me as he looks at who i was staring at. He saw a man sitting there, hunch over while looking at the ground. We were approaching him as he heard my wheelchair and looked at us, it was david.
"huh...?"
"you know him?"
Jo whisper for me to hear, I replied.
"yeah, sort of."
I was wondering why he was so downcast, I decided to ask.
"hey, you're david, right?"
He glance over his shoulder to look at me, and jo, clearly he didn't wanted to talk.
"you. What are you doing here? And, who's he?"
Jo replied: "just, tagging along."
"we're just, passing through... What about, you?"
He looks at me, like he doesn't understand why I'm talking to him, honestly I don't blame him. He sighed and hunch over again.
"don't know why you're bothering me, but. I guess you're the closet to anyone I met."
He sigh again, ruffling his hair and was quiet for a second.
"You remember my girlfriend? Well, she broke up with me."
I was pretty surprise to hear that, and I think jo was as well, in fact he reply.
"wow, that's rough man..."
He eyed him but didn't said a word. Yeah, that didn't seem to be a time to say something. But oddly enough, he replied to his statement.
"tch, yeah it is. Gah, she said it was because of our relationship."
"what she mean?"
I replied curiously.
"...She mean that, we live far away. She doesn't like long distances, so, she broke up with me because I cannot be there for her, but I came here because of her..."
He buried his hands in his face, this was not what I expected when traveling with him. Jo quietly said: "jeez..."
I don't think he heard it, I don't blame him, this is not our buisness but. we got wrap up in this.
He put his hands down and said.
"heh, sorry. I'm bringing up problems with you two, is not like you guys understand."
Jo decided to say something while he sheepishly stood there.
"ergh well, not exactly. But I still have mines... Nevermind, sorry for bringing that up."
He glance at him and looked away, yeah that was not needed jo.
"well, just keep her close okay?"
Wasn't expecting that, I looked at jo and he wasn't expecting it either. In fact, he looked thankful for that.
"hey, thanks. Sorry for what happened to you."
I guess I should say something, at least.
"yeah, I hope you, feel well..."
He gently nod his head while looking forward while still hunchback. He exhale and sits straight.
"you know, her name's jill. She was nice, but if this's what she wants, i guess i'll respect it."
"yeah."
Jo simply said, as it was awkwardly quiet between us as he stood up and turned to us. Surprisingly he was a little taller than jo, like almost six feet. He eyed us.
"so, what are you guys doing, if i may ask?"
What? Please don't tell me he's joining. I said.
"uhm, well we're just crossing the park to get to a library. I need to get something there."
"oh, really? I need to cross the street from the library to get somewhere."
He looks at both of us, jo spoke up.
"so, you wanna come with us?"
"what?"
I said outloud, i didn't mean to it just slipped out. They both glance at me and at each other. David was the first to speak.
"well, if you don't want me to is fine."
Dammit, fine, might as well.
"ugh, fine, I guess you can come..."
I notice a small smirk coming across his face.
"Heh, sorry for being a burden."
I think he meant it as a joke, jo seems to get it.
"yeah, you and me both."
He looked at me with a smirk as i was getting annoyed by them.
"Agh, come on let's go, before I change my mind."
Jo softly chuckle as we moved on while jo said.
"okay, if you say so man."
"ugghh..."
He was a little annoying but bareable, besides, i never have anyone walk side by side with me before. Is, a nice change of pace.
We continue without interruptions as we were reaching the end of the park, only one thing that was a bit of an issue. Near the end was a steep hill, and with a hill was stairs, great. Jo commented on this.
"hey, we made it. Oh wait, you can't go down stairs..."
He looked around while I was doing the same thing, jo comment on this situation.
"huh, you would think their will be a handicap stairs for you, right?"
David looked at the side of the stairs and look back at me.
"the grassy area doesn't look round, I think it was watered recently."
I scroll up and look at each side, indeed the steep hill has a bend but I need to get to the next sidewalk. Jo looked around as david notice another way around for me.
"hey, their's a natural slope on the right that leads to the sidewalk."
"well, I'll take that then."
Jo walks around me and said: "well, let's go."
We continue without delay as we went down the slope which took us a couple of seconds to get out of the park, in fact it was leading us to the right direction.
"okay, we are close, all we have to do is cross this road and it should be on the right side of this road."
Jo said pointing down the road as I was content with this.
"okay, let's go everyone."
"right."
Jo said as we move on, crossing the street. It wasn't long until something happens, from a far i saw two familiar people, one has pink hair and the other has purple. Oh great, I overreached a little.
"ah!"
I shook in my chair and quickly went to the side of the building entrance to hide, this made the two question my actions.
"hey, what's wrong?"
Jo and david went up to me, I cannot believe those two are there. Now I need to make up an excuse.
"uhh, well. *sigh* You see those two?"
Jo looked around the corner to see them. From his perspective he saw two girls, they were chatting among each other. they looked happy.
"yeah."
He his was showing around the corner, I wasn't liking this, i whisper a little crudely.
"can you not show yourself?"
Jo scoff at my words and lean back to hiding, david didn't seem to understand the situation.
"what's wrong with those two?"
"yeah, afraid of them?"
Jo said jokingly which I didn't seem to take lightly.
"pff, no, that's not it... Okay, those two, are my friends."
David seems to be a bit puzzled.
"what?"
Jo looks at me.
"what? You never told us you have a girlfriend."
I got fluster and slightly mad at him, I whisper crudely.
"shut up! Listen, I just don't want to see them right now."
I notice david now peaking around the corner, now seeing the two girls, he started describing them.
"one has pink hair and the other has purple hair. I have to admit, their pretty attracting looking, including the short one."
"hmm?"
Jo hum to himself like he's intrigued, I can see why, does david think that natsuki is attracting? David said something I hoped he would say.
"they're leaving."
I sigh in relief and said.
"oh thank goodness."
Jo walks closer to the corner and confirms it.
"yeah, they're gone."
I scroll out to the corner to see that they were indeed gone, I promptly said.
"okay, well let's keep moving."
I moved on as jo and david followed behind while jo said.
"aye aye captain."
I ignored his joke, even know I can be a little much. We finally reach the library and apparently this was the same place natsuki and yuri was at. I wonder why they were here.
Jo broke my train of thought.
"well, we're here. Shall we go in?"
"yeah, let's go."
Before we head in, david spoke up.
"uh, i'm going across the street real quick ,i'll be waiting for you out here."
"okay."
Jo simply said as i look back and saw the building behind us, apparently it was a baking shop.
"okay, well jo, let's go in."
"sure."
He follow me in, inside the building wasn't too big but still have enough books and other souvenirs to go around. But I don't exactly know what to give her. In fact, jo question this.
"so, you have any idea what to get?"
We were moving down the left side of the building while I was eyeing each side, I honestly don't know.
"uh, i don't know. I was hoping it will come up to me when I find it."
"huh?"
Jo didn't seem to understand, I don't blame him. While I was browsing through one side on the right shelf, seeing the mystery genre, jo said.
"soo, you really don't have an idea."
"no, i don't."
I glance at him feeling like being put on the spot.
"hey, you're the lover boy here, what would you give to monika?"
He blinks multiple times looking finicky.
"uhmm, well... I guess, i would give her something she likes. I know she likes novels of interesting storytelling and such, but I hadn't got her anything yet, for obvious reasons. We just got into a relationship."
"right..."
My eyes narrow away from it, his words of likes and such really gives me an idea, yuri likes literature and maybe even writing. Maybe I should give her something like a pen, is not like i could buy something expensive.
"huh, you think she'll like a pen?"
Jo looks question.
"wait, who are we shopping again?"
Shit, i almost forgot.
"for my mom."
"right. Right."
Jo looks away as we heard a door open, we looked at who open it and saw david walking towards us with a bag in one hand. Jo commented on him.
"hey man, you know I didn't quite got your name."
"is david."
"right, david. Uh, what's in the bag?"
"you really have to be that snooping? Is, cupcakes."
I roll to face him.
"cupcakes?"
He looks at me.
"yeah, i decided to get some, you know to cheer me up a little."
Jo lightly chuckle and went slightly closer to him.
"you know, you have us now soo, yeah..."
David and jo stare at each awkwardly as david gently nods and looks away.
"okay, we're not that close you know."
Jo scoff and back away.
"yeah, you're right. But still, I guess we're all ears."
He looks at him, I did the same as well, he's right, we're not close. But is noble to be able to listen to whatever someone's venting.
"y-yeah. Thanks."
"no problem."
"anyways, ain't you guys found whatever you're looking for?"
Right, the gift.
"well, not yet, but I do have an idea."
Jo turns to me with a soft smile.
"oh good, what is it?"
"hm?"
I thought for a moment and decided to search around.
"i'm going to look around."
I left, jo respond to what I said.
"uh, okay."
I leaved the group as I went around the shelf and pass through the alley of books on each end as I was now reaching the next area and saw something on my left, a pen.
"ah, here they are."
I grab one and inspect it, it was one of those where you fill up with ink, dark blue ink. They were pretty cheap as well, 19 dollars at least, I took it with me and decided to look for some inks for it. I continue on and found them by the next desk and I turned to it to grab one.
"ahh, here they are--"
"hey."
Jo suddenly spoke up which startle me a little, i nearly lose grip of the ink I was holding. I looked at him and saw him standing close, i got a little mad.
"can you not."
Somebody hush me, i turned my attention to a random lady in between the shelfs who then mind her own business. I turned back to jo giving him a stern look.
"heh, sorry."
I whisper.
"come on."
We moved on as we head back near the entrance to pay for this, before we did we saw david looking at books for horror. Jo went up to him and said.
"hey, we're leaving."
He looks at him and promptly put the book back.
"okay."
Jo looks at the genre he was looking and asked.
"you're interested in horror?"
He simply replied.
"unlikely, I was just...Curious."
He moved on being a little vague of what he means as we head to the counter so I can pay for it.
After paying for the items we leaved the store and head back to the same way we came from. I guess that was it.
"well, i got what i came here for."
Jo responded.
"is that all you getting, a pen and ink?"
"yeah, is not like I'm getting her something expensive, i only have 60 dollars before."
"okay."
David spoke up about this.
"who is this for?"
"my mom."
"oh, is it like her birthday?"
"uhh, you can say that."
Jo replied to this rather unsure.
"if is for her birthday then you should at least get her one more?"
"gah, just drop it, this is all i'm getting. Besides, i don't know want else to get her."
David suggested something.
"why not a card? Write something down?"
"no, i don't think so."
We were reaching the crossroad until a person walks around the corner and saw us, he stops and we got a good look at him.
"whoa, sorry!"
"huh?"
I said, it was mc of all people, he was wearing a black shirt with long sleeves and a plain blue jeans. He was quite surprise to see me and the rest of the guys with me.
"huh, simon?"
"uhh, hey."
Great, another person I run into, this day is full of coincidences. He looks at the others as mc said.
"uhm, i uhh, didn't mean to run into you and uh, your friends."
I glance at them as jo have a slight smug look, so far i would not call him my friend but he seems to mean well.
"right."
"A-anyways, I was just having a scroll around and I bump into you. How-how you been?"
I wasn't expecting him to ask me this, but i replied.
"uhh, good, I guess."
"good to hear."
He looks at the others and said.
"uhh, is, nice to meet you guys."
David was the first to speak.
"you too..."
"yeah."
Well this is awkward, time to part ways.
"okay, well we just going now."
"oh really? Okay, well I guess I should get out of the way then."
"yeah, you should."
"wow simon."
Jo replied to my rude remark, I glance at him.
"well, is true."
"i-is alright, i am in your way after all. I'll be going now."
He walks off as jo quickly said.
"is he your friend?"
"well, I guess you can say that."
Jo looks perplex as david said.
"you really didn't need to act like that."
"well, sorry. Is just that, is. Nevermind."
They look at each other as jo have a sly smile and said.
"hey, how about him being our fourth wheel?"
"what? No."
"is there something against you and him?"
"there's nothing wrong."
I almost snap, I was getting tired of this at this point. Jo then said.
"okay, sorry for snooping too much."
"yeah, if it helps I can go."
David said as he went around me as i look at them, i didn't want them to leave with a sour note.
"ah, no. I'm sorry, just...I don't regularly have friends. So I don't know how to treat them."
They look at me and glance at each other, feeling the same melancholic feel. Jo said.
"is alright man, i don't know the same thing either."
David scoff at his remark.
"you can say that again."
I looked at them, apparently we both have the same thing, we have no one as friends.
"huh, so i guess we both know how it feels. Sorry for being a jerk."
"is alright man, you're not the only one."
Jo said as i let out a small smile and said.
"well, if you want, we head back together."
Jo let out a smirk.
"ha, that's what I'm talking about."
He looks at david.
"come on, let's go guys."
We head off and went down the left side of the park and head to the sidewalk and moved on, we were about to pass the middle of the park until i glance at somebody sitting alone on a bench. It was mc again, looking downcast, I stopped as the others soon notice and turns to me.
"hey, what is it?"
Jo ask while approaching a little and turned his head to him.
"oh..."
"hey, what's going on?"
David joins us quickly after and looked at where we were staring, mc was just sitting there as we look at each other, jo said.
"what are you thinking simon?"
"uhh, it just, I feel like I should apologize."
They looked at each other feeling the same way, they look back at me.
"yeah, we should."
Jo said as david then said.
"okay, if you say so."
We head to him as he looks at us, pretty surprise to see us.
"huh? Simon? What are you and them...?"
We stopped a couple of feet away as i spoke.
"hey, i just wanna say sorry on how i acted, and just saw you here makes me wonder what's wrong?"
He didn't quite understand but shortly after he find this humble.
"huh... Well, t-thanks simon it just. I uhh, don't know how to say this, including in front of them."
"oh, we can just for a bit if you want."
Jo replied to his statement as mc said.
"no, I-i think is fine."
He sigh shortly after, he looks down and said.
"is just, i been worrying a lot about sayori, she been acting differently lately. She hasn't been texting me lately and she's been, down and out too. Is it me? Or is it something else?"
Then it was quiet, we didn't quite know what to say, this doesn't seem like we know what's going on. It was awkwardly quiet until I spoke.
"well...Have you spoke to her about this?"
"yeah, but she denied any sad notions, saying that i'm worrying too much about her. I don't know, I feel like she's lying but I can't keep pushing her. She might think I'm being overly protective."
Jo added his say.
"is she your friend?"
"girlfriend."
"girlfriend?"
He pause for a moment and just looked at us, i could've said something but I didn't.
"well, if she's your girlfriend then you need to know that you care for her. Just, try to ease into it i guess, but don't push it."
"yeah, it might make her upset."
"i... I'll try, thanks."
I decided to add mines.
"yeah, if anything happens you got us."
He looks at me, like he couldn't believe my words, i don't blame him. He looks away and I saw a small smile on his face.
"heh, thanks simon, and the rest of you."
"no problem, my name's jo by the way."
His gaze went on David.
"David."
"hehe, thanks. Well, I guess I should get going then."
Mc stood up as jo's phone ding like monika's notification sound, he looks at it and back to us, david said.
"hey, what is it?"
"apparently monika wants to meet me near the middle of the water fountains in the middle of town."
"oh, that's nice."
David finished as jo didn't seem okay with something.
"but that's not all, she wants me to bring the rest."
"what?"
I said, clearly not understanding this, and the same goes to the others. I asked again.
"why she want us to come?"
He looks at me rather unsure as well.
"I dunno."
We were quiet as mc was uncertain.
"hey, is she referring to you guys? Cause I don't think she's expecting me."
We weren't sure as well, it was quiet again as jo said.
"you might as well come, it won't be too bad."
I thought he should come as well.
"yeah, why not? Come on guys, let's not keep her waiting."
Before we left David said.
"Well what do you guys think she want to see us?"
I responded.
"don't know, guess we're gonna find out."
I moved ahead as the others follow, we leaved the park and head down the street northern. We were quiet for a while as david said.
"How far is it?"
Jo responded.
"It should be close, not too far, I think."
"you think?"
I couldn't believe his doubt, jo chuckle nervously.
"eheh, yeah."
We were reaching a cross road as jo said.
"alright, all we have to do is cross the street and turn left."
We cross the street and turned to the left side, we continue for a little bit as jo then said.
"alright, we're here."
On our right was a large area and the water fountain, we saw monika there with two other people with her. It was yuri and natsuki, oh great.
"ah, monika is uhh, nice to see you bring some friends."
I wasn't okay with this, i still have the gift on my lap and yuri is right there. The others seems to be slightly indifferent about this. The girls didn't seem to understand this either.
"hey."
Monika approach jo as he said.
"so why you call us?"
"well, I figure to bring the rest with you, to meet my friends."
"oh okay."
Natsuki took a step forward.
"Monika you brought us here because you want us to meet them?"
"yeah, I figured it'll be a group up or something."
"huh..."
David briefly said as I feel like this is unnecessary as well.
"well that's nice to know but I must be getting back, my mom can be worrisome sometimes."
I was about to leave until yuri looks straight at me, I just froze there, staring at her as well then quickly look away.
Monika said.
"oh, well if you're gonna leave then I'll be seeing you in the club tomorrow."
"right..."
Still trying to avoid eye contact with yuri as natsuki spoke up about something.
"hey, what's in your bag?"
"ah!"
I wasn't expecting her to mention about my bag, I said.
"is nothing."
"what? I wasn't talking to you."
"huh?"
I was not expecting that, apparently she was referring to david.
"huh? Oh uh, is just, cupcakes."
"really? Isn't that from the baking shop in front of the library?"
Natsuki put her hands her hips, David replied.
"ahh, yeah."
"ha, well you certainly have good taste, their are my favorites."
David just look at her.
"really?"
"yeah, they are..."
Natsuki look away after he stares at her, monika clear her throat.
"*ahem* Well that's nice to hear, i just want to say sorry for bringing you all here. I thought it was a good idea to begin with."
"hey, is alright i understand."
Yuri step forward.
"well, i honestly wasn't expecting this either, but is nice to meet you guys, really."
David replied.
"yeah."
Mc spoke up.
"well, is a pleasant surprise to say the least."
"yeah, it is."
Natsuki spoke up.
"yeah, everyone's here expect sayori."
"yeah, i only texted you girls cause i saw you."
"ahh."
Mc said quietly, i heard him cause i was close to him.
"hey, is nice seeing you guys, but i need to check on sayori just a bit. I see you all at school tomorrow."
"okay, see you mc."
Monika said as he left, yuri looks back at me as i feel my bag, i wonder if i should give it to her. No is a bad time, they probably get the wrong idea if i do.
But then Natsuki spoke to David while jo spoke to monika.
"hey, sorry about leaving you, I know is sudden and was probably a bad move on my end."
She smiles.
"is alright, is actually nice of you to help him, even know he didn't ask for your help."
They keep talking as yuri went towards me, I was eager to roll away and just leave, but it would be wrong to do that to her.
"hey simon. I want to say sorry for what I did back in your home."
"what?"
She's apologizing, I wasn't expecting that.
"i shouldn't have dug into your drawers without permission, it was uncall for. Will you, forgive me?"
"uhhh... Of course, i will..."
I feel like an idiot, I brought this as a apology gift and she's willingly to forgive me for what she did.
"Simon, are you okay?"
"Yuri. I want to apologize too, i yelled at you, I been a total ass lately. I didn't mean to be like that."
I glance at her, she smiles warmly.
"is okay simon, i understand, i know is probably a lot for you and i don't take what you did to heart."
I couldn't mutter a smile, i feel like getting her this gift was pointless.
"Simon, is everything alright?"
"yeah. Yeah everything is okay. I, need to get back to my mom."
"o-oh, okay. I'll be seeing you tomorrow, okay?"
I stared at her, i don't know what to say, but at this point I feel like i should say this.
"Yuri, can we see each other before school start?"
"what?"
Yuri was quite shock to hear that.
"umm, i guess so, but why?"
"just, please. Okay? I just want to give you something."
She was speechless, she glance at the bag in my lap and back to me, then it looked like she understand.
"oh, alright simon. I'll meet you at the sidewalk where we first see each other."
"okay."
I left the rest and head back to my home, on the way home i just couldn't stop thinking about what happened today. I met two new people today, they were pretty interesting. Jo is nice but can be tedious but means well. David is alright, he seems to be having trouble with his own stuff but, it seems he'll be fine.
I end up back home, my mother greeted me.
"hey simon, how's the gift hunting?"
"it went well. A lot has happen when I was out there."
"oh good, at least your back home now."
I scroll back to my room without saying.
"yeah."
I was back in my room, i put the gift on top of my desk and just sit there, I'm done with today's chore if is the right word to say it. Now I don't know what to do, expect write what I did today.
I pull out my book and flip through the page to an empty white sheet, I pull out my pen and start writing.
Couple of minutes ago.
"So you like cupcakes too?"
"well, I was just planning on treating myself, really."
"hm, well I understand that."
The two were quiet, natsuki glance at simon and yuri speaking to each other as she looks back at him.
"hey, why were you hanging out with him?"
"huh? You mean simon? Well is, nothing really special really. We're just hanging around with each other, he's not that bad."
"I see. Well, I wasn't expecting you to hang out with him, not that is a bad thing."
"okay. Do you, like sweets?"
"huh? Why are you asking me?"
"is just, you ask what's in my bag, it seems like you know it too. So I'm guessing you know what was in my bag."
"uhh, well i-i just, okay yeah I was interested in the bag. I ate there before, their the closest baking shop that lives by me."
"oh, that's explain a lot."
"yeah. Do you like sweets?"
"well, they're alright."
"heh, well if you weren't then you wouldn't brought those cupcakes."
"tch, yeah. You can say that."
Natsuki notice simon leaving as they overhead jo and monika conversations.
"So you'll spend more time with me?"
"yeah, of course."
Monika smiles brightly as Natsuki turns back to him.
"hey, I gotta go, my dad doesn't like when I'm out too long."
"oh, okay. Well I'll be seeing you later then."
"what? What do you mean?"
"what? Sorry, i'm used to saying that."
"right."
She turns her attention to them and said.
"I gotta go, I'll see you guys tomorrow then."
"okay, bye Natsuki."
She head off, leaving david with them as he turns to them.
"yeah, i got to go too."
Jo said.
"alright, bye david."
"see you."
He backs away and head off, yuri then spoke up.
"uhm, I need to go too."
"alright, see you tomorrow yuri."
"right, bye monika, and jo."
Both said in unison.
"see ya."
That leaves the two alone, and only the sound of the splashing water behind them. Jo said.
"so monika, may I ask why you really brought them together?"
"eheh, well, the same reason you going with simon. I have my reasons."
"tchehe, well you got me there."
Jo got closer and wrap his arms around monika, she brings her around him as well as they embrace each other for a little while.
Soon they let go and take a step back.
"well, shall we finish with what we started?"
Monika said to jo, he smiles.
"yeah, let's go."
The two went off, holding hands down the sidewalk as they continue further down the town.
