Chapter VII
Leon's exposure
A week later, Fox, Kevin, and Krystal walked into the large armory in the castle and approached Slippy, who was busy putting the final touches on a new gadget. He allowed Slippy to come to the castle armory to work on creating gadgets they needed for their mission, and he had been busy working on them since Kevin hired him a week ago. Kevin made sure Slippy had help in creating the gadgets needed by having some of his armory workers assist him. The room was lit with an overhead light, and there were several long tables with various tools and gadgets on it. He had Wolf check up on Slippy to assist him in any way he could.
"Hey, Slip." Fox greeted him, "What's up? Wolf said you wanted to see us."
"Are the gadgets I requested ready to go?" Kevin asked
"Yea, Kevin." Slippy replied, "They're all tested and ready to go."
Fox gave Kevin a curious look.
"Gadgets?" He asked, "What kind of gadgets?"
"Come with me and I'll show you." Slippy instructed them.
The three of them followed Slippy over to one of the long tables and showed them to three pairs of boots.
"Ordinary-looking boots." He told them, "But press this button on the right side, and out pops snow skis."
He demonstrated it for them by grabbing a shoe and pressing a button on the right side of the shoe, causing a ski to pop out of the sole.
"Impressive." Krystal commented, "I've always wanted to do some skiing."
Slippy picked up three golden wristwatches from off the table and tossed two of them to Fox and Krystal.
"Golden wristwatches." He began to explain while holding up Kevin's wristwatch. "But they really fire two different darts. Regular serum darts and garlic-gas darts. Rotate the case clockwise once to switch darts. Press the center crystal to fire the dart out of the crown."
He handed him the watch back and watched them try them out.
"Thanks, Slippy." Fox replied, "You're a genius."
"Thanks, Fox." Slippy said, "But I'm not finished with Kevin's car yet. I should have it finished before the party tomorrow night."
He turned to both Krystal and Slippy to continue talking to them. Fox spotted something resembling a camera on a table, so he picked it up and held it up to his face.
"How about a pic, guys?" He said as he aimed it at them,
"FOX, DON'T!" Slippy shouted with his hands out to him.
It was too late. Fox pressed the shutter button and fired a mini-rocket at them. All three of them jumped out of the way just as the mini-rocket shot through an opened window and out to the night sky. Slippy stood back up and angrily stomped towards him. Kevin and Krystal slowly stood back up as well with Krystal in his arms.
"WHAT THE HELL'S THE MATTER WITH YOU, FOX?" He spat as he snatched the gadget out of his hand "YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN SOMEBODY KILLED!"
"Sorry, Slip." Fox said, "Didn't mean to cause any damage."
Not wanting to cause any more trouble trouble or damage, he placed his hands into his pockets and left the room with Kevin and Krystal. Slippy decided to show them the new car features tomorrow night, which was when the party was going to take place.
An hour later, Kevin entered the family room and smiled when he saw Krystal teaching Micheal how to read by showing him a Disney book. As soon as they finished, Micheal closed the book and wrapped his arms around Krystal's neck. Krystal grinned and wrapped her arms around the little dhampir. Krystal wanted to teach him how to read in order to help him and spend time with him at the same time. Kevin thought that was a great idea.
"Bedtime, little one." She said as she stood up and lifted him up into her arms.
She laid him on his bed and kissed him on his forehead. Kevin watched him close his eyes then walked with Krystal out to the courtyard.
"Does Micheal know anything about his parents yet?" Krystal asked Kevin.
"No." Kevin replied, "I think it's better if we keep it quiet about them until he's old enough. I told Fox the same thing."
"I agree." Krystal added, "In the meantime, you and I should train him to use his dhampir abilities after we have completed this mission."
Kevin nodded in agreement.
Inside the castle, Wolf grinned as he picked up his battle axe he had just sharpened and strapped it to his back. Suddenly, instinct kicked in. Leon was up to something in the castle. His nose picked up his scent, so he dissipated into black mist and began to follow him. He spotted him walking down the corridor and approach the children's bedroom with a sword and axe in his hands. He ran up to him.
"Leon!" He said, "What are you doing?"
Leon had to think of something fast.
"I was just going to check up on the children." He lied.
Wolf wasn't fooled. He grabbed Leon and pushed him away. The cult medallion Leon had on his undershirt fell onto the floor. He grabbed Leon and picked it up.
"Care to explain this?" He growled, with the medallion up to his face.
"Wolf, I swear I don't know how that get there." Leon said nervously, "I-I really don't k-know."
"SAVE IT!" Wolf bellowed with his teeth bared, "AND COME WITH ME!"
He pulled Leon all the way down to the throne room where William and Cella were sitting. Kevin and Krystal also returned to the throne room and sat down in their thrones.
"Wolf," Cella said, "What's the meaning of this?"
"I caught Leon approaching the kids's bedroom," Wolf explained, "He was armed with these. I think he was trying to kill them."
"Not both of them," Leon said, "Just Micheal."
All four of them were outraged. Kevin and Krystal got up and approached Wolf and Leon.
"Why Micheal?" Krystal spat. "Why him?"
"I refuse to say anything." Leon said, "All I'm going to say is history will repeat itself soon."
He began to laugh maniacally. None of them couldn't take this anymore.
"GET RID OF HIM!" William ordered
Wolf, Kevin, and Krystal extended their palms and blasted Leon with long thick streaks of flame, causing him to scream and disintigrate into a pile of ash.
Two hours later, Felon stood out of his penthouse and took another sip of blood from his wineglass. He stood there, waiting for his nightly report from Leon. His patience was wearing very thin. He heard footsteps approach him from the left side. He turned and saw a hooded figure walk up to him. He never trusted Leon, which was why he had this other mole in the Jackson castle watch him.
"Is Leon coming back with his report?" Felon asked
"No, Felon." The hooded figure replied, "He failed to kill Micheal, and they disintigrated him."
Felon wasn't surpised.
"Ah well," He said, "He was useless anyway. Come. I'm famished."
Both he and the mysterious figure dissipated into black mist and headed for downtown Corneria City.
