By Sunday morning, it seemed people were starting to forget about Aaron. During the first few days, there were billions of tribute posts all over social media. Most of the people hadn't said a hundred words to Aaron, but the town was shaken when he took his life. Now, people pretended like he never existed. Jade was disturbed by this, so she stayed up all night Saturday night, forming a plan.
Through some Facebook stalking, she found out Abbey Posey takes dance classes at the local recreational center on Sundays. Jade knew she couldn't do this on her own. She showed up ten minutes before class was set to end.
Abbey walked out of the center. She was talking with someone who was also in the dance class. Jade climbed out of her car and approached the teens. "Hey, can I talk to you?" Jade asked.
"See you at school," the girl said. She then walked off.
"Hey, Jade," Abbey said.
"Hey, can I take you to lunch?" Jade asked. "We need to talk."
"Why?" Abbey asked.
"I wanna talk about Aaron," Jade said. "I feel like people are forgetting him."
"I'll hear you," Abbey said.
"I'm calling it the Aaron project," Jade said. They were sitting at a diner near the recreational center. "It's to make sure no one forgets Aaron. We can advertise it at the assembly tomorrow."
"It shouldn't just be for Aaron," Abbey said, "But everyone who feels alone."
"So you want in?" Jade asked.
"Heck yeah," Abbey said. "But we should check with Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell."
Jade and Abbey presented their idea to the Mitchells. Abbey also gave them the emails she and Dirk fabricated. "This is brilliant," Mr. Mitchell said. "I don't know anything about the internet, but I'll do the offline work."
"Can we bring it up at the assembly tomorrow?" Abbey asked. "I'm working on a Facebook page for it."
"Of course," Linda said.
"We can do a fundraiser," Abbey said. "My aunt works with a suicide prevention charity."
"I can bring it up in my latest Youtube video," Katie said.
"Great idea," Jade said. Jade smiled as they buzzed with ideas. It then dawned on Jade she still had to give a speech tomorrow.
