Disclaimer: I do not own the song. The song is 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' by Whitney Houston.

The ball came faster than I expected. Soon, it was ten past seven in the evening and the ball's starting in twenty minutes. 'I wonder if Won-Won is going to wear those dress robes again,' Lavender scoffed at the idea. I giggled when she recalled the time when Ron wore ugly dress robes at the Yule Ball. 'Just don't steal the limelight again,' Parvati warned me, 'I don't want Michael to spend the whole night ogling at you.' 'Sure thing, Parvati,' I laughed.

Personally, I think that Parvati, Lavender and Ginny all looked wonderful. Parvati wore a pale pink prom dress with small flowers encrusted on the collar of her dress; Lavender was dressed in a strapless coral pink dress; Ginny had a blood-red cocktail dress; I, myself, had an off-sleeve light magenta dress. 'Ready?' I asked the girls. 'Ready!' They answered in unison. 'Well, here goes nothing!' I pushed open the door of the Great Hall.

Dumbledore certainly had spent a lot of time decorating. There were hundreds of red hearts dangling from the ceiling. 'That reminds me of our Second Year,' Harry said, walking towards us. 'Yeah, the time when Lockhart went mad and wore pink robes,' Ron added, 'I don't know what you see in him.' 'What do you mean?' I asked. Harry looked at me in disbelief, 'Don't you remember that you used to crush on him? You defended him even though he disappeared all the bones in my arm!' I blushed, 'That's just a silly crush. I like someone else now.' Ron beamed at me but I felt a bit guilty. Although Ron was my boyfriend now, I had a crush on someone else. A certain blond-haired Slytherin. My blush deepened when I remembered his murmurs against my ear during breakfast time.

Good thing Dumbledore started his speech, which distracted me from any thoughts of that certain Slytherin. 'Good evening, boys and girls, welcome to the Valentine's Ball. We have booked the Weird Sisters to perform for us.' Huge applause. 'I know that all of you are eager for the ball to start, so no more old man's wheezing waffle. Let the ball begin!' 'Hear, hear!' the students shouted while laughing. The Weird Sisters started playing a song. Ron dragged me towards the buffet table and I knew that it was going to be a long night.

[Hermione's POV]

Third-person

After a few rounds of food and drinks, the music suddenly stopped. Dumbledore went onstage and said, 'Sorry boys and girls. The string of a cello snapped and needs a little time to fix it. Who would like to provide the music?' Hermione's ears perked up. Music? Provide? Her hand shot up into the air like when she was in class and wanted to answer a question. 'I could!' she shouted. Dumbledore smiled and motioned her to come on stage.

Hermione Acioed her MP3 player and quickly skimmed through the songs. Never Gonna Give You Up, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, For The Longest Time... Aha! Hermione tapped into a song and cast a Sonorous Charm on both her MP3 player and herself. She took a deep breath and started.

Huh, yeah, woo
Hey yeah, huh
Ooh yeah, uh huh, yeah
I wanna dance

Students noticed the change of the beat so they repositioned themselves.

Clock strikes upon the hour
And the sun begins to fade
Still enough time to figure out
How to chase my blues away
I've done alright up 'til now
It's the light of day that shows me how
And when the night falls
Loneliness calls

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me

Hermione could see that everyone was enjoying the music, so she continued.

I've been in love and lost my senses
Spinning through the town
Sooner or later the fever ends
And I wind up feeling down
I need a man who'll take a chance
On a love that burns hot enough to last
So when the night falls
My lonely heart calls

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me

Ginny, Lavender, Parvati and some other girls swayed their hips to the beat. Even McGonagall stood up to dance.

Somebody who, somebody who
Somebody who loves me
Somebody who, somebody who
To hold me in his arms, oh

I need a man who'll take a chance
On a love that burns hot enough to last
So when the night falls
My lonely heart calls

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody
I wanna feel the heat with somebody
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody
With somebody who loves me

The Weird Sisters were so intrigued by the music that nearly forgotten that they still have a cello to fix.

Oooh
(Dance)
You know, baby
(Dance)
Woo, yeah
(Dance)
Now get with this
Woah

Don't you wanna dance (dance) with me, baby?
Don't you wanna dance (dance) with me, boy?
Hey, don't you wanna dance (dance) with me, baby?
With somebody who loves me

Every single person in the hall danced like mad.

Don't you wanna dance?
Say you wanna dance?
Don't you wanna dance?
(Dance)

Don't you wanna dance?
Say you wanna dance?
Don't you wanna dance?
(Dance)

Don't you wanna dance?
Say you wanna dance, uh-huh (dance)
With somebody who loves me

Oooh (dance)
Oooh (dance)
Oooh (dance)
Hey baby

The crowd went wild. Hermione took a bow and left the stage. Her friends were cheering loudly. The Weird Sisters started playing soon, and the hall was filled with classical music again.

'That was great, 'Mione! I haven't danced this much since Fleur and Bill's wedding!' Ginny cried. 'What song is that?' asked Parvati, 'It has a catchy beat.' 'It's I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston. One of my favourite party songs,' Hermione explained. As she introduced this famous singer to the girls, she couldn't help but wonder if she could ever dance with the person she loved.

And that, 'm friends, is the first part of the ball! Can you guess who 'the blond-haired Slytherin' was? More Dramione action coming up! Please R&R! I enjoy reading your comments!
