A/N:
Thank you so so much for over 100 hits on AO3 and almost 200 views on Fanfiction net! I know the numbers may seem small, but I truly appreciate every reader that has stumbled upon this fic. Here's to even more growth!
No Regrets Spoiler Warning: This chapter will go into details from the AOT OVA No Regrets. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend doing so (you can watch on any of the gogoanime websites, just search Attack on Titan and look for the OVAs) before reading this chapter. Additionally, while I love No Regrets dearly, it has been a fair while since I've rewatched it, so there may be some inaccuracies in the details (some are intentional to fit with my AU though). If there are any major plot mistakes, please let me know and I will go back to fix it!
844, one year since Rosamund Amsel's arrival at the Survey Corps
"Thank you for all meeting here with me today."
Erwin Smith looked around his office space, seated at the head of a long wooden table. His most trusted soldiers were here today, including Levi, Hange Zoe, and Mike Zacharias. He looked down, shuffling his notes, before looking back up to address his subordinates.
"We have two important points to go over today,"he continued, clasping his hands in front of him. He observed his soldiers, noting with a hint of amusement that Levi was the only one that appeared bored; everyone else sat straight and attentive.
"Firstly, we have a proposal to introduce Rosamund Amsel into the military officially."
Erwin watched as all his subordinates, barring Levi, reacted with differing levels of surprise. Hange, ever the emotive one, turned their head to look at Erwin so quickly that he was surprised they hadn't received severe whiplash. Mike seemed to understand the implications behind Erwin's words; he eyed Levi across from him suspiciously as he sat quietly to process the proposal.
"Commander, isn't she nine?!" Clearly not everyone was so inclined to sit quietly.
Erwin turned to Hange, dipping his head. "It would seem that her age is the biggest problem to discuss today."
Hange, though personality loud and occasionally obnoxious, was intelligent in their own right and immediately rounded on Levi.
"Levi! She's nine! That's, like, barely a child!"she protested, standing up and slamming their hands onto the table.
Levi observed them coldly, seemingly expecting such a reaction. He sat quiet, not inclined to answer them at the moment.
"Levi!"Hange whined.
"Levi."
Heads turned to the usually quiet section commander as Mike locked his gaze with the icy dark gaze of the captain's. "Rosamund is still a child, not even old enough to qualify for the Cadet Corps training,"he continued.
Levi finally spoke. "I won't be sending her out to the titans, if that's what you're insinuating."
Hange furrowed their brow in confusion. "But, if you want her to be a soldier, she'll have to face them eventually,"they said, sitting back down slowly.
The stoic captain let out a tired sigh, crossing his arms in front of him in an annoyed fashion. "My intention is that she stays within the Survey Corps Headquarters and continues her training in a more rigorous schedule. She can shadow my squad and officially start working with the squad, instead of during our breaks. She can also run errands for us if need be,"he explained. His voice was flat and his expression settled into a blank slate.
Erwin dipped his head, closing his sharp blue eyes momentarily. "I see."
"Erwin, this will also allow us to carry out Koen Amsel's last will."
Heads shot up around the table in mixed reactions of shock. Though none of the soldiers besides Levi, Hange, and Mike had served directly alongside him, most of the Survey Corps by now had heard of the late former senior team leader. "Ah,"was all Erwin said in response as he closed his eyes again in contemplation.
"Last will? Huh? What's that?"Hange asked, leaning forward towards Levi. He stayed quiet, making no move to answer the enthusiastic section commander.
The blonde commander cleared his throat. Hange trailed off, sitting back down properly as the rest of his subordinates gazed at him expectantly. "I will allow Rosamund Amsel to enter as a soldier of the Survey Corps,"he decided, meeting Levi's cold stare.
"Huh?"
"Furthermore,"he continued, holding up his hand to silence the shocked gasps surrounding him, "she will not be allowed outside of the walls until further evaluation. She will be under the direct command of Captain Levi and will be given the rights to train and work alongside the Special Operations Squad."
This seemed to appease Hange slightly, who sank down in her seat after springing up once more in indignation. Silence soon followed as each soldier analyzed this decision to themselves.
It was Levi, surprisingly, that made the first move. He raised his hand in askance. "Will we wait for my recommendation to meet again?"
Erwin nodded towards him. "That is an excellent idea. Discussion of allowing Rosamund to advance through the ranks and participate in our expeditions outside the walls will ensue following an official recommendation given by Captain Levi. Are there any objections?"
Mike raised his hand, his face calm. "Levi mentioned something about Koen Amsel's last will. Commander, are you able to explain that to us?"he asked smoothly. Next to him, Hange nodded enthusiastically.
Erwin studied the wooden pattern of the table in front of him, contemplating his answer and thinking of his late friend. It was true, that while he didn't want to leave his soldiers uninformed, Koen Amsel's request had been particularly unsettling.
"Erwin, could I talk to you?"
It was that stormy night, after Hange had led a frightened and shakened Rosamund to her new room and Levi had gone off to the kitchens for his nightly tea. Koen had lingered, eyes locking with Erwin's own sapphire blue orbs.
Erwin set his pen down, gazing at his soldier. "What is it, Koen?"
His friend seemed to hesitate, turning his head to the side momentarily so that Erwin could not read his expression. Finally, he drew in a deep breath, letting it out in a long sigh.
"This will probably seem outrageous, but just hear me out, okay?"he began. Erwin did not respond, his gaze never leaving Koen.
"As fast as you can, with as many precautions as possible, I want you to train Rosamund to become a soldier."
'Eh?' was all Erwin could think of, his brain short circuiting for the briefest of moments as he thought of his friend's words. "Rosamund?"he finally said faintly.
Koen nodded firmly, his long cinnamon locks mimicking his head's motions. "And not just any soldier, I want her to train under Levi. So that humanity can have another strongest soldier,"he added.
Silence fell over the pair, casting a dark shadow in the room. Erwin's thoughts flew to the young, innocent girl that had stood crying only minutes ago. He could not see how she could become the hardened soldier that Levi and the rest of the Survey Corps were like at the mere age of eight. Finally, he stood up. "You're asking me to use your own child as a weapon?"he asked, a hint of danger leaking into his smooth voice.
Koen winced, turning his gaze away from Erwin's. "It's… not like that,"he said softly. Erwin did not answer, waiting patiently for the torn man to continue instead.
"I want to show her the world outside,"he said. "I want her to know what kept me from her all those years."
Erwin raised an eyebrow. "I will be blunt, Koen, but wasn't it your own cowardice that kept you from her?"he questioned. Koen winced again, shrugging as if to brush off his inner demons.
"Perhaps,"he allowed. Suddenly, he turned around, his crimson eyes set ablaze and burning with passion. "But I was dedicated! I fought with every fiber of mine! And even though I can't be a good father, I at least want to give her something to connect me with,"he burst out. His fingers curled into a ball, squeezed tightly.
"And,"he added when Erwin did not speak, "if she trains with Levi, she won't die."
"You don't know that,"the commander countered, sharp blue eyes piercing through the senior team leader.
Koen let out a harsh bark of laughter. "Erwin, I led the captain myself when he was but a kid joining the regiment reluctantly out of some deal you bought him. I know how he works, how powerful and strong he is. If he can pass those same skills to Rosamund, I have no doubt that she will live and succeed."
Erwin stayed silent at that, contemplating his words. He sank back down in his seat, closing his eyes and clasping his hands in front of him on the desk. Finally, he reopened them to meet a pair of hopeful and pained red eyes.
"I'll talk to Levi about it,"was his only answer. It seemed to be enough to appease Koen, who sagged with relief and looked as if an enormous weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
"Thank you, Commander,"he said with a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Erwin said nothing, only nodding and returning to his work.
The commander looked around the table, observing the expected varying degrees of shock encompassing his comrades' faces. Hange's face, in particular, stood out and he braced himself internally for the coming berating he knew they would give. Surprisingly, though, they kept quiet. Their burning eyes sweeping between Erwin and Levi furiously was their only indication of their true feelings.
When no one spoke up, Erwin drew in a breath. "Then it's decided. Rosamund Amsel will be an official member of the Survey Corps as of today. She will be under the tutelage of Captain Levi and his Special Operations Squad and will not be allowed in combat until further notice,"he announced.
Though many faces glum or unhappy, no one made the move to challenge this statement. Erwin noted with faint amusement that Levi did not seem too happy either; perhaps Rosamund had managed to find a place in the cold captain's heart after all, he mused, as he shuffled the papers in front of him to bring out his next case.
"Now, we will be moving onto the larger issue and the main issue we have gathered here to discuss,"he said clearly. The rustling sound of paper momentarily filled the room as his subordinates shuffled through their own piles of papers to sift out the report.
"We have received a job request from the Military Police to find and capture two elusive criminals of the Underground City,"he continued once everyone had the correct papers in front of them.
"Eh?!"
Erwin felt incredulous stares on him as he waited calmly for his soldiers, mainly Hange, to quiet down. Though not uttering a single word, he could feel Levi's glare burning into him.
"We do not know their names, but it appears to be one female and one male. They have apparently stolen omni-directional maneuvering gear from the military and are quite skilled, hence the request for backup. We will go in undercover after the Military Police for maximum covertness. A special squad will be assembled for this mission, to be determined by me."
He paused, glancing around the table, before continuing. "I will be in contact with the new squad and we will meet in the next few days. Any questions?"
Erwin was met with silence. He saw that Levi was glaring ferociously at one particular spot on the table and he grimaced inside, knowing what his friend was thinking about. "Then that will be all. Dismissed,"he said after no one made the move to object him.
There were scraping and creaking as the highest ranking Survey Corps soldiers filed out of the room, the last shutting his office door shut gently with a click! Erwin was not surprised at all to find Levi still remaining, eyes swirling with dark emotion and arms crossed in front of him in defiance. He sighed, straightening and bringing his papers to his desk as Levi began to speak.
"I'm not going."
He sighed again. The captain was smart, he knew that Erwin would take advantage of both his great skill in omni-directional maneuver gear as well as his background coming from the Underground district. "Why?"he asked simply, sitting down in his chair and crossing his hands in front of him. Levi let out a particularly prejudiced huff, glaring at him.
"If there's a chance it's them, I'm not taking it,"he responded dully.
Erwin let out a contemplative hum, his mind thinking. "You would provide a great advantage in securing the criminals, Levi. Past history or no, I cannot ignore that,"he said evenly. His response was met with silence, though Levi's glare didn't waver.
The clock ticked, seconds turning into minutes as the pair settled into prickly silence. Erwin observed the swirling patterns of the wood that made up his desk, patiently waiting for Levi's answer. Finally, the captain opened his mouth.
"Fine,"he grunted, standing up suddenly. "I'll place my trust in you." Without another word, he stalked out of the office, closing the door with a sharp snap! that resonated throughout the room.
Erwin smiled blandly to the emptiness that greeted him.
Horses whinnying could be heard faintly up and down the pathway as Rosamund held a bucket of feed for the animal in front of her, a rare and fond smile decorating her lips. She stood alone in the stables, wearing her usual long burgundy skirt and freshly pressed white buttoned shirt. Her sleeves were rolled up and hair swept into her trademark braid, long length blowing gently in the light breeze.
She tensed slightly as she sensed a presence, relaxing when she recognized the familiar clicking of boots. Captain Levi of the Survey Corps rounded the corner as she turned, placing the heavy bucket on the stone ground.
"Captain,"she greeted conversationally as birds chirped around them. Her guardian nodded in reply, reaching a hand up to the black mare that served as his ride idly. The horse butted her nose to his hand, eager to receive affection.
"How was the meeting?"Rosamund asked. She had been informed that Levi would be away in an important meeting that afternoon, thus having to cancel her afternoon training sessions.
Levi did not speak for a while, concentrating on the horse beside him as he wordlessly motioned for the bucket of feed. She reached down and passed it to him, hands almost slipping from its weight. Finally, he opened his mouth.
"The commander has decided to allow you to join the regiment."
Rosamund blinked. Then blinked again. "Oh,"she said stupidly, not knowing what to say. She had not been expecting his answer at all.
Levi glanced at her, navy eyes cold as ever. "You don't have to accept if you don't want to, no one's forcing you to join,"he added after seeing her surprised face.
She scowled a little. "No, it's not that. I just wasn't expecting that to be your answer. I want to join, of course,"she retorted.
Levi snorted slightly, setting the feed bucket down once his mare had had her fill. "Very well then,"he nodded at her, turning to leave.
"Wait!"
The wind tousled his raven hair, blowing several strands in his eyes as he glanced over his shoulder. Rosamund looked up. "Will I be in your squad?"she asked, eyes filled with hesitation.
The captain gave a short nod. "I'll be directly responsible for you, until you're old enough and skilled enough to go outside of the walls. You'll just be serving in Headquarters; we're not sending a nine year old out to the titans,"he added quickly, seeing Rosamund's relieved face morphing into excitement. She nodded, schooling her expression into a blank one.
"Understood,"she responded. Balling her hands into fists, she swung her right arm towards her and saluted her captain sloppily. Levi did not smile, though his expression was less stern.
The short man turned away again, walking down the path as Rosamund watched him go with a small tug to her lips.
"Pining after your lost love?"
She gasped and stumbled as a hand landed on her shoulder heavily, a teasing and feminine voice sounding behind her. Her ruby eyes caught sight of several ginger colored strands and she sighed heavily, scowling as she pried the woman's hand off her shoulder.
"Stop being gross, Petra-san. He's my mentor and I admire him. Plus, I'm nine,"Rosamund grumbled, bending down to retrieve the bucket of feed. It was now nearly empty.
The kind-hearted soldier of Squad Levi chuckled, the corners of her eyes crinkling. "Of course, of course. I forgot you were so young, with that glare you wear so often. I'm only teasing you,"she laughed lightly as she followed the younger girl. Rosamund grunted as she hefted the bucket to the storage room, where she set it down to be cleaned.
"I know,"she grumbled again, searching around the dusty room for some cleaning supplies. A snort escaped the older woman and she shot a glare up at her.
"You know, you should really loosen up a bit,"Petra said, smiling. Rosamund began to scrub the bucket thoroughly, not bothering to answer.
Sensing that she wouldn't get another word out of her, the ginger haired woman smiled again and straightened. "Well, I came here to find you for our afternoon training sessions. Captain Levi won't be there to lead it - he has a new mission from the commander - but you're welcome to join. Eld will be leading it instead,"she offered.
Rosamund paused, the brush held loosely in her hand as she shook some suds off of her. Turning her head and looking up, she nodded furiously. "I'll be there!"
Petra nodded back, turning to leave. "I'll let Eld know,"she added before closing the door with a click.
Rosamund was met with silence and an empty room. Though the dust irked her and the bucket was still dirty, something warm blossomed within her as she realized that she would be training as an official soldier for the first time. Another smile spread over her lips and she returned to scrubbing.
Levi glared menacingly at the wall in front of him as he stood behind Erwin's shoulder, standing before the special squad that the commander had assembled. Mike stood too, technically the most senior soldier out of the group but not second-in-command for this assembly. That honored role fell on Levi's shoulders; he figured it was due to his unique background.
The two other soldiers that stood beside Mike were familiar faces, yet Levi did not remember their names. He knew they had to be skilled, however, so decided not to quell on them too much as Erwin began his instruction.
"We will leave for the capital tomorrow,"he declared, addressing all of his soldiers. "Captain Levi, given his familiarity with the Underground district, will take the lead once we arrive. We will go in with hoods up - make sure that the criminals do not see your faces. The Military Police will scout them out, and we'll give chase once they find the targets."
Levi resisted the urge to scoff as he considered the commander's words. Familiarity, huh? He was jerked out of his thoughts when the gathered soldiers suddenly saluted in unison.
Erwin dipped his head. "That is all, dismissed."
As the rest of the squad trickled out of the room, Levi remained in his position, rooted to the ground as Erwin turned toward him. "What do you plan to do with them?"he asked sharply. His nails dug deep into the flesh of his palm as he leveled his glare on the commander.
When he didn't respond, he grew angrier. "You're planning on doing the same to them as you did to me, aren't you?"he asked furiously. His body moved unconsciously and he stepped towards him.
Erwin finally responded. "You don't know that it's them."
"It doesn't matter, they should have the choice."
"Levi, we've got company."
Young teenage Levi looked over his shoulder, meeting the worried gaze of the tall blonde boy that had just dropped from the rooftops next to him. He gave a sharp nod, gesturing at the red headed girl sitting on a tall crate to his right. "Right, let's move out."
He didn't look back to see if they had followed, only leaving the dingy alleyway and weaving his way into the streets. A glance around told him that everyone was tenser than usual. He supposed that could be explained by the added presence of the Military Police.
"Hey, Levi-bro,"a bright voice sounded by his right ear. He glanced slightly in acknowledgement.
"I think we might have to run for it,"his male companion suddenly said, a trace of fear leaking into his voice as he looked behind. Sure enough, green cloaked figures were steadily making their ways closer to them.
"The street's unusually crowded today, we should use that to our advantage,"he said as he began to walk briskly. His friends seemed to notice his change in pace and kept up, the boy glancing back occasionally.
Levi himself kept an eye on the Military Police, who were steadily gaining on them. A yelp sounded behind them as they pushed aside the final group of people blocking their view of them. They began to run.
"Go!"he roared at his friends, pushing them forward as he cursed under his breath.
"Levi-"
He did not bother to reply, whipping out his knife and flipping it in a combative grip as he turned around sharply to face the Military Police. He knew that at the rate they were running, it would be highly unlikely for any of them to escape unscathed.
"I'll buy us time. Now go!"he snarled. The boy and girl hesitated again, but after exchanging a significant glance, they nodded firmly and took off running. Levi heard their pounding footsteps fade away and let out a breath he had been holding.
The busy crowd around them had long dispersed ever since the Military Police had appeared, leaving an eerily empty cobble street. Beggars and thieves lingered in the shadowy alleyways, watching the exchange happen emotionlessly.
The Military Police stopped in front of him, the apparent leader of their squadron of soldiers pausing and stepping forward. Levi drew in a filth-infested breath as he readied himself to pounce into action.
"I-"
Their leader's eyes widened as crimson droplets sprayed beside him. His soldier was now sporting a deep gash to his stomach, with Levi holding him at knifepoint. "Move and I kill him,"he said bluntly, digging the knife in the soldier's neck harder for added emphasis.
The leader swallowed as the remaining soldiers tensed into fighting stances, waiting for their orders. "We're not here to hurt-"
Levi let out a ferocious snarl, his hand shaking slightly from anger. A single drop of ruby blood slipped from the man's neck and he whimpered, his hands desperately attempting to staunch the bleeding from his abdomen. "Bullshit,"he growled.
There was a pause, then a flash of green. Levi felt himself fall, the bloodied knife slipping from his grasp as he fell as if in slow-motion to the ground. Something hard pressed against his throat and a weight shifted onto his body as he was pinned to the ground. He scowled at the blonde soldier on top of him, hand reaching up to fight the blade that trapped his throat.
"Give it up,"the soldier rumbled. "Look around you, you're surrounded. Your weapon has been removed, and you're pinned down."
Levi's navy eyes swiveled around, searching desperately for an opening. He found the other two soldiers that their leader had brought, supporting the injured soldier in between them. They glared down at him and he sneered. Still, he understood well what a lost fight looked like and grudgingly relaxed. Sensing his acceptance, the leader relaxed the blade pressed on his neck and smiled warmly.
"Now, let's start over, shall we? I'm Erwin Smith, what's your name?"
Levi scowled. "Levi,"he spat.
"Wonderful." Levi did not see anything 'wonderful' about his current situation.
"Who were your friends?"Erwin continued, brushing aside his hostility.
Levi smoothed his expression into one of confusion. "What friends? I don't know what you're talking about."
Erwin chuckled, a dangerous glint appearing in his eyes. It made Levi uneasy as the soldier replied, "We saw two other people running with you: a girl and a boy. On top of that, we know that you have accomplices, Levi. The Military Police were not shy to report this when we accepted this case."
Military Police? Report? Levi was confused. "You're not the Military Police?"
The lead soldier chuckled again, much less intimidating than before. "We accepted a referring case from the Military Police. Apparently we would be able to catch the criminals… more efficiently. We are the Survey Corps,"he replied easily, as if he were sharing an afternoon tea session with Levi instead of digging a knife into his throat on a grime-covered street.
"Squad Leader, shouldn't we go after the other two?"one of the uninjured soldiers asked. His face reflected anxiety.
Erwin's gaze never left Levi's. "That's quite unnecessary, at least for now,"he answered smoothly. "I have a proposal for our young friend here."
Levi glared up at him, refusing to answer. The Survey Corps soldier smiled wryly at him.
"Don't act so hastily, Levi. I haven't even told you my proposal yet,"he chided. Something about his smile irked Levi and he restrained himself from clawing the man's eyes out.
"Now, you have two options here. One, I can arrest you, and your friends, and turn you into the Military Police. The second, something I would consider much more favorable to all of you, is that you come with us. The military needs fresh blood. We'll train you to become a Survey Corps soldier, and in return, your friends can walk free." He paused.
"For now, at least."
Levi scowled. "And if I refuse?"he sneered.
The cold metal pressed against him even harder. "The Military Police would be delighted to meet you." He did not have to elaborate further for Levi to fully understand him. He narrowed his eyes.
As much as he maintained a cold front, he cared for both his companions. He was reluctant to accept them into his life at first, but they had softened his heart and found their way into it. He gritted his teeth. It was an impossible decision to make.
"Fine,"he spat finally, a thunderous scowl decorating his face. He would not condemn the only two people he gave a damn about to an even filthier life than the ones they lived.
Erwin finally released the blade, raising it away from his throat. He straightened, a weight lifted from Levi, and extended a hand towards him. "Welcome to the Survey Corps, Levi,"he said, a true smile painting his lips.
1 week later
Levi glared at the stairs in front of him. Oh, how he loathed those stairs that had taunted him for nearly two decades.
"Let's move. Captain Levi, we will follow you."
He moved at that, not waiting for the other soldiers to follow. He knew they would. His feet moved, almost dragging in the filthy stone as he descended down the stairwell.
The Underground City was just how he remembered: dark, depressing, and dingy. What a delightful reunion.
He was unsure if he would meet them today, though deep inside, he hoped not. About a decade had passed since he last saw them; he was sure that they had changed just as much as he had.
Through his hood, he saw that the streets had not changed much either. Poverty clearly reigned the majority of civilians, with beggars lingering by the shadows. He wrinkled his nose as his boot stepped in a particularly dirty puddle, feeling his skin crawl in disgust. They looked highly out of place in the rat-infested district: pristine, shiny leather on grimy and moldy cobble paths.
Their destination would be a few streets over from their current position, their targets apparently expected to appear. Among their little group, it was obvious who had been in the Underground district and who had not: Erwin walked confidently while their comrades huddled close to each other, on guard.
He stopped as the awaiting Military Police came into view. They seemed to be new recruits, all unfamiliar faces to Levi. Not that he would know any MPs.
While Erwin exchanged greetings with the Military Police squad, Levi stared at the streets around them, bored.
Blue, sparkling eyes.
A toothy grin.
Short, red pigtails.
Bright, emerald eyes.
Dimpled cheeks.
Levi drew in a sharp breath, his eyes widened slightly. Mentally, he shook himself. He had a mission to focus on.
Erwin turned around to their squad, giving them a curt nod. "Let's go,"he confirmed, gesturing at them to follow.
They huddled behind a rather tall wall, grouped on a rooftop. Suddenly, a shout sounded on the streets and the Military Police shot off into the air, pushing themselves on their omni-directional maneuver gear. Levi's muscles tensed, waiting for Erwin's cue.
Their commander pushed himself up as well, their cue to follow him. Levi quickly pounced, his grapple hook latching firmly into a nearby building as he propelled himself in the air. He made sure to keep his hood up as he shot through the air, keeping a careful eye on the green figures of the Military Police. Though he could not see their targets, he could see the trailing Military Police.
As the chase progressed, Levi was forced to acknowledge their targets' skill. The MPs were struggling to keep up, their cue to push forward and assume their position. As they dropped out, Erwin took the lead and shot forward, leading three other seasoned Survey Corps soldiers behind him.
Using an extra boost of gas, Levi aimed his grappling hook closer to the targets and pushed himself ahead of their group. He could finally see their targets in close detail, something in his heart squeezing as he slammed his grips into the sheaths at his hip, hearing a click! as fresh blades were locked into place. Pressing forward, he barreled directly into their male target and took him down, his blade pressed into his back.
"If you know what's good for you, don't resist,"he said harshly as he pushed his back with his hand. He pretended not to notice the hint of panic in his voice.
He felt the man tense underneath his fingers. His target inhaled sharply and twisted around to see his face. As if in slow motion, he saw the achingly familiar blue eyes scan him up and down, widened with disbelief. He parted his lips, and just as they slammed into the ground, Levi heard Furlan Church utter one word in surprise.
"Levi?!"
Those broken memories dragged brutally to the surface.
A/N:
Thanks for reading! Next update will be out next week, though it might be delayed due to me starting my pre-college program. Hopefully it won't be too bad haha.
We will continue the No Regrets storyline in the next chapter! Just a quick reminder that the timeline is a little bit different than canon. Erwin being commander earlier on and Levi joining by himself when he was a teen are all intentional divergences :)
Sorry there wasn't as much Rosamund action in this chapter. I debated on adding her into the Underground chase, but decided not to since it wouldn't really make sense to bring a newly minted (child) soldier to an intense mission that MPs requested help for. Plus, I haven't shared much on Rosamund's skills with ODM gear so I thought that adding her might make her out to be too OP lol. Anyways, don't worry, we'll see Rosamund more in the next chapter!
That's all for now, I'll see you lovely readers next time!
