Anytime the World's Not Right
Satoru went about his punishment like what he always does with the things he doesn't like doing, by dumping it on others and unfortunately for Ijichi he was this until of course Yaga caught the poor teen doing what was supposed to be Gojo's work. So now the white haired sorcerer was hunched over the desk with a stoic Masamichi standing behind him as he filled up another form, grumbling to himself of how unfair it was.
"I could be out there on the field exorcising curses but noooo, write out the report this, fill this up, sign this tch, what a waste of my time and skill." he said outwardly but in his mind all he can think of was how it was cutting in to his precious bonding session with little Yuuji. And just this morning Yuuji even said it was okay for Sato-nii to take his time since it means he can hang out more with the friends he had made in the daycare. Does Yuuji-kun prefer the other brats than him? Gojo can't help but imagine Yuuji turning down his offer to play with him and instead running over to those daycare kids. The teen internally wailed in anguish at the thought.
Yaga noticing the grumbling teen, hit him in the head with one of the dolls he was stitching. "Get back to work you brat."
"Mahhh~ I don't wanna anymore." his teacher just glared at him. Satoru puffed his cheeks before resuming back to work.
Later in the afternoon just as he was about to try and sneak out now that Yaga had been called out for a mission and won't be back 3 days from now his phone rang. When he picked it up, he was surprised by the caller ID but worried all the same, it was Yuuji's sensei. He swiped on his phone to answer the call.
"Good afternoon, is this Gojo Satoru? Yuuji-kuns guardian? This is Watanabe Ryo, Yuuji-kuns teacher."
"Yeah, speaking. Is Yuuji okay?" he immediately asked.
"About that, he's in the nurses office right no—"
"What!? Why? he— is he alright? What happened?" Gojo immediately asked stalking out of the college ground in a hurried pace.
"Please calm down Gojo-san—"
"Don't tell me to calm down, you just said Yuuji's in the nurses office!" the teen exclaimed.
"Yes, but please calm down and listen." said the teacher, Gojo exhaled heavily to calm his nerves. "Okay, okay. I'm calm now. Tell me what happened."
"As I said Yuuji-kun is in the nurses office but there's nothing to worry about, it seems he has a fever and no one noticed it until a while ago. We already had a nurse check up on him and she said Yuuji-kun will be alright, the fever already went down and poor boy is just tuckered out a bit. I'm calling for you to pick him up since it'll be best if he can rest at home."
"Yes, I understand. Sorry for my outburst earlier. I'm on my way."
"It's okay Gojo-san, it was understandable. How long till you can come by and pick Yuuji-kun up?"
"I'm on my way as we speak."
"Understood, goodbye then." Gojo didn't reply and as soon as the teacher dropped the call Gojo warped himself over to the daycares location. He hurriedly went inside and was met with a lady who was about to go out. Startled, she almost fell backwards but Gojo caught her by her wrist.
"Ahh I'm sorry—"
"You're Ryo-sensei right? Where's Yuuji?"
"Gojo-san? But you just— ah never mind, follow me this way." Ryo-sensei quickly led them to the nurses office, once there the white haired teen made a beeline to the figure laid on the bed.
"Ryo-chan is this Itadori-kuns guardian?" A kind middle aged nurse asked as she stepped out from her small office attached to the room. The teacher nodded.
"How is he?" Satoru immediately asked.
"Right, he's fever has gone down. Though he'll need to drink a lot of water since he's a bit dehydrated other than that there's nothing a good rest and a bit of cold medicine couldn't fix. He'll be fine." the nursed reassured to which Gojo released a relieved sigh. The teacher stood at the side watching as the young teen fussed about his charge before she cleared her throat.
"It's seems a cold has been making its rounds around the area, a few parents called in a few times this week telling me their kids are down sick. Yuuji must have caught it from one of them. Anyway, Takigawa-sensei is right. Yuuji-kun will be back to his energetic self in a few days. And oh Gojo-san, would you like me to call a cab for you?"
"If it's no trouble."
"No trouble at all, you can have Yuuji-kun ready as I make my call." Ryo-sensei said before she left the room.
"Let me pick up some medicine and vitamins for Itadori-kun." the nurse, Takigawa-sensei, went back to her office to presumably get the medicines and Gojo was left alone with Yuuji.
"Neh~ Yuuji-kun wake up a bit," Satoru gently coax the boy by shaking his shoulder.
"It's Sato-nii, I'm here. Wake up for me, yeah?"
"Sato-nii?" Yuuji asked in a tired tone. Satoru hummed in confirmation. Slowly Yuuji peeled open his eyes and a tired smile made its way on to the boys face.
"Sato-nii!" the child exclaimed and he reached for the older teen who met him halfway. A yawn escaped Yuuj and he hunkered down onto Satoru's arms to which the older teen chuckled when the boy immediately slipped back to sleep. Slowly and carefully, he adjusted his hold before lifting Yuuji up just as the nurse exited her office.
"Here you go, young man— oh it seems you have your hands full at the moment let me walk you out then. Ryo-chan probably has gotten a cab already."
"If it's no trouble," Satoru grinned.
Once back to their apartment he gently deposited the cold addled boy on to his bed and went to the bathroom to fetch a bowl of water and a couple of hand towels. He then soaked it and rung it a few times before going back to Yuuji's side to place it over the boys head. After making sure it won't fall over he went to the kitchen and fished out his phone to look up the ingredients for chicken soup. He then went to his fridge to see if he had everything and clicked his tongue when he saw there were a few missing. He closed its door and leaned back on the appliance.
"Mah I don't wanna leave Yuuji-kun on his own, what to do." he said to himself.
"Ah!" he exclaimed hitting his palm with the bottom oh his fist. He took his phone again and dialed the number of his junior.
"Ahh Go-Gojo-senpai?"
"I ji chi~" the teen sang.
"Uhh Yaga-sensei told you I shouldn't be doing your work." came the nervous reply from the other line.
"Don't be like that, anyway I didn't call you about that. I have another favor. Get me the things I'll be texting you? Okay? Bye!" Satoru dropped the call before the other teen could protest and quickly texted him of the missing ingredients and a few more things.
Half an hour later, ijichi called asking how was he suppose to give the items when the older teen didn't gave his address. Gojo thought it over before asking the teen where he was and warping over there surprising the younger teen with his sudden appearance. And as quick as he made his appearance he disappeared quickly as well leaving a frazzled first year and a wad of cash on his hand.
When he came back, he made sure Yuuji was still in bed and resting comfortably and then went back to the kitchen to prepare the soup. The rest of the evening consisted of Gojo feeding the sick child, reading him a bedtime story, lying to Masamichi about having the paperworks done and an exchange of insults between him and Suguru in their group chat with the occasional sharp retort from the only female in their group. Checking on the boys temperature which has gotten down a lot and replacing the damp towel with a fever patch and continuing to watch over the boy till he fell asleep besides Yuuji.
The next day he was woken up by small hands shaking his head awake. Blearily he eyed the boy before rolling over to burry his head on the pillow. He heard a soft protest before there was a heavy weight settled on his back.
"Sato-ni, wake up already."
"Don't wanna~"
"Sato-ni, Sato-ni!" there was a tiny huff and the feeling of Yuuji climbing off his back and off the bed before the blankets were dragged from under him and along with him. With a yelp the white haired teen fell on the floor with a giggling five year old standing over him. He forgot the inhuman strength the boy had, he thought wearily.
"You don't have school right! It's Saturday!"
"Nope I don't, whad'ya wanna do?" he asked as he pick himself from the floor and the blankets which he folded and placed on the bed. He then pulled Yuuji towards him to check on his temperature. His fever was gone and judging by the boys energetic greeting he recovered already.
"Hmmm I don't know, whatever sato-ni wants." came Yuuji's reply.
"Why don't we have breakfast first. Your fevers gone but let's have you take some of your medicine just to be sure. We could watch a movie after that? What do you say?" the pink boy nodded enthusiastically, grabbing one of his stuff toy, a stuffed white tiger, and wrapping one of his blanket cape that looked like a penguin before darting off to the kitchen where Satoru soon followed to make breakfast, this time a traditional Japanese one which consists of omurice and miso soup.
After breakfast and convincing Yuuji that he can handle washing the dishes and he doesn't need help after Yuuji almost drop the plate he was drying, the two were sequestered on the couch and they were on their third film with lion king playing on the large screen. Gojo chuckled when the boy began to bounce up and down with Zazu's singing and hid behind his blanket when it came Scars number which he teased the boy quite a bit. Both of them were enjoying the film till it came to Mufasa's scene and Gojo mentally cursed himself. He scrambled for the remote but it was too late, the lion fell and didn't move no matter how much the cub nudged and called for his father.
"Dad?" the boy echoed the cub and Satoru cursed again, quickly turning off the screen.
"Papa, I want my Papa." Yuuji whispered. The boy was still in his arms, eyes distant but tears slowly rolled down his cheeks.
"Yuuji-kun, look at me. Hey now." Gojo tried but there was no response from the boy. He tried a few nore times but to no avail. Carefully he grabbed Yuuji's shoulder and brought him close for a hug. This seemed to work as small hands grabbed at his shirt with a tight grip and small hiccups escaped the boy. Gojo held on tighter as he felt Yuuji shake in his arms. Minutes, probably hours passed till he felt Yuuji's hold on him slacken, he cried himself to sleep again. Something Satoru never wanted the boy to experience again.
Slowly he lifted himself up along with Yuuji and made his way to the child's room. He deposited his charge on the bed wiping the stray tears that still rolled down the boys face. He stayed there for a few more minutes making sure that he was no longer crying in his sleep before going back to the living room. He threw himself on the couch causing for the remote to bounce off and fall on the floor. Satoru picked it up and stared at the device and before he knew it he flung it hard on the television. Glass and sparks flew and Gojo could only stare numbly at it.
The next day there was already a new one in placed of the broken television.
