A/N: I've decided to post this now but I can't promise that I'll post chapter 8 tomorrow. I have a deadline for the ton of application writing that I have to do next Wednesday, so I need to focus on that rather than this. However, I will try to get it out latest Monday night BST. I'm about half way through it at the moment so we'll see how it goes.
Chapter 7
*Adrien's POV*
Alya and Nino's jaws were skimming the floor after we told them the whole story. Marinette and I just sat back and enjoyed watching them trying to process the entire story. Even though Alya already knew about the Ladybug story and had somehow figured out that I was Cat Noir, she was still shocked about the extent of the tangled web of our relationship.
"Wait, so you really were in a love square. This whole time?" Nino tried to clarify. "I have to say though, the fact that the two of you are Ladybug and Cat Noir is the least surprising part of your revelation!"
"I have to agree, it makes complete sense. You both have the right personalities, you've never been akumatised and you always disappear when someone has been akumatised," Alya listed.
"Thanks," I said before a thought occurred to me. "Hey Alya, how did you manage to figure out that I'm Cat Noir?"
"Oh that! Well Nino told me that you were developing feelings for Marinette, but were feeling guilty about them because you were in love with someone else. Who though? It wasn't Kagami because she had already broken up with you at that point and it was slightly obvious that although you care about her, you weren't in love with her. I still hadn't figured it out when I saw the two of you full on making out in the elevator. That's when I knew that Marinette had told her identity and that you were in love with Ladybug! You wouldn't be kissing her otherwise as you aren't the sort of person to put your already strong sense of guilt to one side. And on Mari's side, she had told me that she wasn't able to tell you about her feelings yet because of her guardian pressure and she was having the same problem as you, even though she wouldn't admit it to herself, she was falling for Cat Noir. That left only one answer, Adrien is Cat Noir!" Alya explained with a proud look on her face. She grabbed a slice of pizza from the box and sat back as Nino looked at her with wonder.
"You're truly amazing Als!" Nino exclaimed.
"Yes you are, I'm glad that you figured it out then and not before though! I would not have been happy if you knew and didn't tell me!" Mari said.
"I can agree with Marinette there!" I laughed, putting my arm around Marinette's shoulders, pulling her into my side and leant back against the couch.
We spent the rest of the afternoon laughing and playing video games before Alya and Nino had to leave to go babysit Alya's twin sisters, leaving Marinette and I alone. Finally. While Mari showed them out, I picked up the pizza boxes to throw them away in the kitchen bin, relaising at that moment that we hadn't eaten in hours. Mari walked towards me after shutting the door, wrapping her arms around my waist and resting her chin on my chest to look up at me.
"I'm so glad we have the rest of the afternoon to ourselves. My parents have a ton of orders they need to complete so they won't bug us. So what do you want to do?" She asked, flashing me her beautiful smile.
"Well, I don't know about you, but we ate lunch hours ago so I'm starving," I replied.
"Hmmm, me too actually. Seeing as all the pancake ingredients are out, why don't we make some together and then maybe we can pop some popcorn and watch a movie?"
"Oooh that sounds amazing! Making pancakes with my girlfriend will be the first couple thing we do together!"
"You're right. This is going to be a lot of fun!" She left my arms, leaving behind a cold empty space, to walk to the other side of the table to grab the ingredients and a bowl. She then guided me to weigh out the correct proportions of flour, milk and sugar, while she cracked the eggs and mixed it all together, adding in something else that I did not recognise. I wrapped my arms around her waist from behind, resting my chin on my shoulder to watch her actions as she started to fry the little American style pancakes.
"Mmmm they look delicious, I can't wait to try them. I've heard that they're the stuff of legends!" I said.
"Thanks, it's all to do with my secret ingredient!" Mari laughed." Can you do me a favour and grab some plates from that cupboard over there and the syrup from the fridge. Oh and I think Alya brought some fruit salad over earlier to have with the pancakes that I did not make earlier. I'm pretty sure it's still in the fridge, we forgot to eat it with lunch," she added before turning her attention back to her cooking.
I went around her kitchen searching for the stuff that she wanted plus some cutlery until I spotted something on the floor by an armchair. It was the gift that I'd bought Mari on my way here. I can't believe that I forgot about that! I quickly picked it up and placed it on one of the chairs by the table, before sitting down on another to resume watching Mari plate up the pancakes. She created a small stack on each of the plates, then spooned some of the fruit salad and drizzled some syrup across the whole plate. FInally, she dusted a little icing sugar on top.
"Wow! Thanks Mari. This looks stunning!" I said as she handed me a plate before sitting opposite me.
"I hope you like them and that they live up to expectations!" She said before tucking in.
I took a bite and my mouth was filled with an explosion of flavour. I could not stop eating and soon enough my entire plate was wiped clean.
"That was the best plate of pancakes I've ever had in my life!" I exclaimed as I placed the knife and fork down gently. "I'm now officially stuffed!"
Marintte's beautiful laugh rang in my ears as looked at me with amusement.
"I'm glad. It's all to do with secret ingredients, cinnamon, buttermilk and the genuine love for baking!" She said, with a wink.
*Marinette's POV*
I'm glad we managed to make pancakes today. It was totally worth seeing the look of pure joy on Adrien's face. He had wolfed his stack in two minutes flat, so he was watching me as I ate mine like a civilised person! Once I finished, Adrien picked up a bag from the chair next to him and placed it in front of me.
"What's this?" I enquired.
"This is a gift that I got for you. I bought it this morning on my way here and was going to give it to you this morning, but didn't for obvious reasons! I may have forgotten about it till I saw the bag sitting next to the armchair while you were cooking," he replied, an excited glint in his eyes. I reached into the bag and lifted out a beautiful bluebell blue scarf. I audibly gasped.
"Wow Adrien! Thank you so much, but you really didn't have to get me anything. I don't have anything for you right now!" I said, leaping of my chair to give my goof of a boyfriend a massive thank you hug.
"I know I didn't. But I wanted to. I'm sorry that I didn't make it but I saw this one and immediately thought of your eyes. Plus you'll need it for this Friday night. It's supposed to be cold," he said a little cryptically.
"What's happening this Friday?"
"Well I was hoping that I could take you on our first official date. I spent the whole morning before I left home planning and I think I have the perfect idea that will be the perfect end to the intense build up! So what do you say?"
"I'd love to. That sounds amazing!" I leaned in for a tender kiss that turned passionate very quickly. Adrien stood up from the chair, his lips leaving mine for a minute.
"Just so you know, I fully accept that last night was our actual first date that only we know about, but I thought I should take you on one as Adrien, in a setting that's not a rooftop. We do need stories to tell others anyway!" he said as he led me towards the couch.
"I completely agree." I smiled as we sat down. "Why don't we put on that movie now?"
"I'd say yes, but I don't think we'll be watching very much of the movie" Adrien smirked. I whacked him with one of the pillow cushions.
"We're in my living room. My parents could literally walk in any minute! They do have some minor boundary issues!" I reminded him.
"Fine, as long as you stay close to me for the duration of the entire film," he laughed. "You pick what to watch, although I'd like to put in my preference of a light, easy watch romcom!"
"You are full of surprises aren't you! First you're a stealth Jane the Virgin superfan and now you want to watch a romcom!"
"Well I guess it's a good thing that we have a lot to learn about each other!"
We ended up putting on The Sun Is Also A Star, but Adrien was right, we didn't watch it all. The slow tender kisses he was placing on my neck while we were spooning were too hard to resist, so we ended up making out on the couch at the same that Natasha and Daniel were in the movie. Kissing Adrien truly never gets old!
All too soon it was 7pm and Adrien had to leave. We walked down the stairs hand in hand and then kissed him goodbye by the back door.
"I'll see you on Monday. I'll come here before school so we can walk together," Adrien whispered, his forehead leaning against mine.
"Sounds good. I'm so glad we got to spend today together. Promise you'll text me when you get home," I said.
"Me too. And I promise." He gave me one last lingering kiss before waving goodbye to my parents in the bakery kitchen and leaving.
"You two really are made for each other," My mum said as I walked into the kitchen to see what my parents were doing. "By the way, we need details on how this happened. After Alya and Nino, your father and I are the biggest Adrienette shippers!"
"Muuuuumm!" I exclaimed in shock. "But fine I'll tell you. But only because I really want to!"
"Here honey, you can help decorate these cookies while you tell us," my dad said, handing me a large piping bag and pointing to some gingerbread cookies for an order.
"Sure ok. Well I'll start right from the beginning, with a misunderstanding and an umbrella…"
A/N: This story only has one proper chapter left, but I have a few ideas for 1 or 2 epilogue chapters, we'll see how they turn out!
Oh and the reasoning behind choosing the sun is also a star was because I could not think of a movie until I looked at my bookshelf and that was the first book I saw. It's a great book and movie by the way, one of the rare ones where the movie ending is better than the book ending seeing as the book ending was alot more ambiguous and the movie ended the way that you were rooting for. Highly recommend!
