A/N: I don't believe how fast I wrote this chapter. I started it yesterday and then finished it today! This has been a whirlwind of a week, as this week of July always is, and then I went to see Black Widow on Friday. I loved it and it was the first one I'd seen in the cinema. Hearing that opening music on the big screen rather than on my laptop was everything and made watching all the others in 2 weeks ( I don't know how that happened but I managed to still get all the necessary work done!) so worth it! Anyway, that was a sidetrack! I'll let you read the chapter now!

Chapter 12

*Adrien's POV*

Both of us were crouched next to each other behind a large shrub, mouths agape as Shadowmoth walked towards my mother, destransforming to reveal my father as he knelt next to her. I could not believe my eyes.

"Oh Emilie, I'm sorry I haven't been here the last few days but a lot has happened. Adrien now has a girlfriend. They are made for each other, something that Natalie has helped me see by telling me stories of their last few years of friendship. They remind me so much of us, except we weren't in denial for so long!" he started to talk, a shadow of a smile crossing his face as a lone tear gently rolled from his eye. It broke my heart to see him like this, but he's Shadowmoth. He's been torturing Paris for years, not to mention the New York and Shanghai fiasco's. It all made a weird amount of sense.

My hand moved towards my baton, but before I could grasp it and leap up to confront my evil father, Marinette placed her hand on my wrist, gently shaking her head and pointing towards the scene in front of us, telling me to watch. So I did. We sat there for the next hour, just watching my father catching my mother up on everything that's happened in the last few weeks. He detailed the whole optigami plan, even including seeing Marinette and I in the elevator and leaving us alone as we had nothing to do with it. At least that confirmed that he has no idea who we are, and it should stay that way. At some point, Mari's gloved hand had found its way to mine, her grip gradually getting tighter as the conversation turned back to us and our new relationship. All too soon, my father got up and transformed into Shadowmoth once again, walking back to the tube lift and taking it up. I turned back towards Marinette as she let go of my hand, reaching for her yoyo and opening the link to the miracle box. In her hand appeared two miraculouses, the bee and the horse.

"Here," she whispered, handing me the horse miraculous. It glowed and Kalki came flying out, nodding to me before we both looked towards our guardian. "Unify Plagg and Kalki, I have a plan but we need the extra backup and we have no time to get the other holders. Plus I think we need to keep this between the two of us. At least for now."

"I agree," I whispered back, putting the glasses on. "Plagg, Kalki, Unify." A white light encompassed me, adding white to my front and ankles, much like a horse. This time, I did not have a hood, but my hair did braid, resembling Max's when he is Pegasus. I now did not look much like myself at all which will hopefully help in the impending fight against my father. As I studied my new look, Marinette merged Tikki and Pollen, once again taking my breath away as Ladybee.

"What?" She questioned, noticing me staring.

"Nothing. You look completely stunning and I can't believe how lucky I am," I whispered back, stepping closer. She blushed before becoming completely serious and looking at me with a disapproving look, crossing her arms as she did.

"Stop Pegacat," She scolded. "This is not the time. We actually have a chance to end this once and for all. I know this will be incredibly difficult, but we have to do this. Shadowmoth has been torturing Paris because of a misunderstanding. We now know who he is and have to do this."

"Yes you're right. I don't believe I'm saying this, but my father needs to be brought down. I'll deal with the repercussions later."

"We'll deal with the repercussions." The hardy look in her eyes softened as she stepped towards me, placing a hand on my arm in a comforting motion. " I love you and I will always be here. Through good and bad. That includes your insanely misled father." She stood up on her tiptoes and placed a gentle kiss on my lips, reaffirming her words, filling my insides with a sense of peace and calm before the storm.

"I love you too. Now, what's the plan?"

*Marinette's POV*

I was so nervous. We actually had a plan to defeat the villain who has been wreaking havoc on our city.

The elevator ride was so tense with anticipation, neither of us truly knowing what to expect. As we neared the top, Adrien's hand grasped mine and squeezed it for support. Soon enough we reached the top, the doors opening to reveal an entirely new room. Right in front of us was a massive window looking over the rooftops of Paris, the midday sunlight blazing through, highlighting the hundreds of white butterflies flying around, all congregating around one tall man in a purple blazer. Shadowmoth. It was time for a face off.

Both Pegacat and I took a hold of our weapons, including those of the bee and the horse, and stood ready to fight as Shadowmoth turned to face us.

"Ah. Ladybug and Cat Noir. I see you have brought a couple extra kwami friends with you. I could feel the mixture of triumph and nerves as you were coming up the elevator. How did you find me though. It's been so many years that I thought you were just terrible at your jobs," he taunted, a sneer masking his normal monotone.

"We are not going to tell you how we found you Shadowmoth, but we have now. And you have no chance now," I replied.

"Oh really?! Well I do have home court advantage, so I'd say that you are worse off," he snarled.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Adrien said under his breath before he turned his head towards me and gave me a small nod. I nodded back and called venom. My hand glowed yellow as Adrien opened a portal to right behind Shadowmoth. We acted so fast that Shadowmoth never moved, so I leapt into the portal and stung him in the neck. He was frozen, allowing us to talk to him without him being really slippery and akumatising someone. But we had a time limit.

I managed to flip myself over and back to my position next to Adrien, crossing my arms as we faced the now powerless Shadowmoth, ready to confront him

"Now, what do you have to say for yourself, Gabriel Agreste?!" Adrien snarled. I'd never heard him so angry before but it was fully justified.

"So you figured it out? Yes I am Gabriel Agreste but now that you know who I am, it's only fair that you tell me who you are," Gabriel replied back, not faltering at the venom in my partner's words.

"I don't think so. We'd rather keep our identities to ourselves. But we do want to know why you have been trying to get our Miraculous for so long. You have failed spectacularly but you never gave up. What were your motives?" I asked, preparing myself for the stereotypical villain's monologue.

"Ahhh my motives. Well, about 18 years ago, I was in shanghai on business and was looking for a gift for Emilie, my wife. We had just found out that we were expecting our son, Adrien, and we were both so happy, but I got called to Shanghai and had to go as my career was only just starting and i could not afford to lose it, not then, not when I was going to have a family to support and provide the best possible life for. I was walking around the city when I turned down a street of sketchy pawn shops, effectively getting lost. Just as I was about to turn around, two broaches caught my eye. They were sitting in a window on display so I went to investigate and then ended up buying them, even though the peacock one was broken, and an old book that I found. At the time, I bought the book as inspiration for my designs, not knowing the true relevance of the pictures and runes. Then, about halfway through my flight, luckily it was private as Audrey had sent me over and brought me back knowing that I wanted to get back to Emilie as soon as possible, I pulled out the gifts and opened the boxes. A bright light emanated from both pins and out came these two strange little creatures, one blue and the other purple. The blue one seemed to be very tired but I thought nothing of it. They explained that they were kwamis and that they were lost many years ago along with a book, a grimoire. To say I was shocked was an understatement, but they explained everything. As soon as I touched down, I rang the pawn shop and told them to tell me if anything else similar came through as I was very interested. Then I went home and gave Emilie her gift and told he the whole story. We decided not to do anything with them or the other Miraculous that they told us about until our baby was older so we could focus on him. And that was it. For the next 10 years we did nothing with the Miraculous and focused on our lives and our son, until I got a call from the pawn shop in Shanghai about a bracelet that dated abc to around the same time as the broaches. It reminded me of the powerful jems we already owned so, after a long conversation between Emilie and I, we decided to hunt down the rest of the Miraculous. That was when we decided to hire Natalie. She went to Shanghai on our behalf to get the bracelet while Emilie and I started to experiment with the Miraculous we did have. We had so much fun but then she fell sick. Dusuu explained that it was because she was using a broken Miraculous, but she didn't stop. Her health began to deteriorate until, a few days after our sons 13th birthday, she fell into a coma and I moved her down here to keep her alive. At that point, I decided that it was imperative to find the Miraculous of the Ladybug and Black cat to make the wish and bring back my wife, rather than to just build a collection. That's the only reason why I've been doing this. To bring her back. My wife. Adiren's Mother. We both need her," Gabriel said, ending his monologue with a tear rolling down his face. Adrien stepped closer to his father, defences dropped a little as he realised the true meaning of the terror our city has faced.

"This whole time you have been doing this for love. But I tell you what, if you'd bothered to properly find out everything about the miraculous, you would know that the coma your wife is in is reversible. It's magical and has nothing to do with the working of her body. If you weren't so consumed in your desire to use and abuse your power, you would know that your son has only wanted you to care for him. His mother died in his eyes and he was all alone because his father was so consumed in himself. You don't deserve to be a holder," Adrien said, tears slowly flowing out of his eyes and anger creeping into his voice. He had made his way towards his father and was now standing directly in front of him.

"You have been terrorising our city for what you have taken to believe is an honourable cause," Adrien continued. "Well I don't believe you. I think that deep down you cherished the power that the miraculous gave you. That's why you never wore the broken one until you found out how to fix it. You're a selfish jerk and 100% deserve what's coming to you." With that last jab, Adrien reached down and grabbed the two Miraculous from Shadowmoth's chest then turned to me, his eyes asking me what was next.

"We're going to dial the Mayor. He'll stop this from becoming a PR nightmare for Gabriel's son, a complete innocent, and will ensure that Gabriel get's the punishment that he deserves," I said, reading his mind.

"That sound's good. And here, I think these belong to our guardian," Adiren replied, handing me the Butterfly, Peacock and horse Miraculous. I divided Tikki and Pollen and then opened my link to the miracle box, hearing all four kwamis whoop before returning to the box.

Gabriel stood up from his unfrozen state and made a move towards the tube lift, but before he could, Adrien spun on his heel and threw a hard punch to Gabriel's face, knocking him out.

"That felt good," he said before taking the step towards me and pulling me in for a massive hug.

"Thank you so much for handling this as if he were a stranger, I don't know what I'd do if you thought that I was in on this," He whispered in my ear, hot tears dropping onto my shoulder as the adrenaline rush came to an abrupt end.

"I would never have thought that, you're my partner and I know you. You don't have an evil bone in your body and so don't deserve to have a father like this," I whispered back, tightening my hug. We stayed like this for a few minutes until Adrien's tears dried up. He pulled away from me a little and wiped his eyes with the back of his still gloved hand.

"Ok, let's ring the Mayor and jump over this last hurdle," he said, visibly stealing himself for the next few hours.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed this and don't mind that they didn't fight. I just stuck with the monologue trope as I can't write fight scenes. I know that my explanation doesn't really fit with the way the origins episodes as when the butterfly miraculous is used for the first time since it was lost, wayzz told master fu. But then how did Emilie manage to use the peacock one without alerting him? So I thought that a kwami may only sense another if the power was used for an evil reason, which is how master fu knew he needed to find holder for Plagg and Tikki. That's my logic anyways!

I also feel like Emilie is not the only motive behind Hawkmoth, I do think that he enjoys it and just wants the power to himself, which is why he doesn't only want Ladybug and Cat Noir's miraculous, but them all. However I think he's telling himself that his only motive is to bring Emilie back, so he's not really aware of his true ulterior motive.

I have no idea how this can be just a kids a show, it's so complex and there's so much room for interpretation, especially with the season 4 episodes. So many of them have blown my mind and I'm now so glad that I've decided to wait for the english episodes that we know the dates for rather than watch them in portuguese a few weeks before. I'm so excited for rockeater though and what was with that 'Gabriel Agreste' hint?! I don't think any of our superheroes know bc we've seen episodes after episode 9 and nothing has been mentioned. My current theory is Lila even though I don't want it to be her. But no one else really talks to Gabriel. I guess it could be Kagami's mum, especially after that season three episode with the letters and him saying that the plan is going that could also mean that she already knows. Maybe that's the episode that confirms that she knows?

Anyway, that's enough theories for now! I'll hopefully see you sometime this week with a new chapter!
