Chapter Seven – Bayley Marries Rocky
Santa Monica Baptist Church, Los Angeles, CA
John Cena looked around nervously as his wife Mickie James straightened his boutonnière.
"I love your best man get up," Mickie said complimenting her husband's pocket flower. "The red really stands out against the white jacket,"
Cena nodded but he was clearly distracted, "I just don't know about this wedding Mick," he said concerned as he started to stretch out his collar anxiously. Cena and Rocky had gotten really close over the last few years and his relationship with Bayley was a talking point at the Cena household ever since Rocky fell in love with her.
Mickie James could see that Cena was concerned, so she didn't let her happiness over the fact that her dress matched his red boutonnière take away from his feelings on the matter.
"I've known Bayley for awhile, that girl is super talented. I know she's been in a dark place but marriage is a great place for hurting people to find the support they need to take them out of stuff like that," Mickie James said.
"Or, it can be the place where that stuff explodes and destroys everything around it," Cena said. "I know Bayley but not as-well as you guys do, I don't trust any woman that would make friends with Stephanie McMahon and wreck her oldest friendships just like that,"
Mickie flicked her hair over her shoulders and pursed her lips, "There's always two sides to every story baby. I don't know why Bayley decided to drop her old friends and align with Stephanie but I guarantee you, one of them drove her to madness,"
Cena shook his head, "I don't agree that either Seth or Sasha are responsible for Bayley's dark turn. Sometimes you go crazy all by yourself, I just hope Rocky is sane enough to carry the baggage that marrying a woman as unhinged as Bayley is going to come with,"
"That's why God gives men strong arms Jonathan," Mickie said to her husband caressing her husband's muscular shoulders, "So you can carry the things we can't,"
Cena nodded smiling down at his wife affectionately, "That's true Mickie, I was just hoping that Bayley would offload some of that baggage before she walks down the aisle today. Rocky's got a lot on his plate, now he's going to have even more. It's not fair, marriage is supposed to make life better. Rocky's life is about to get a whole lot harder if Bayley doesn't find herself and get out of Stephanie's influence,"
Rocky came into the alcove where Cena and Mickie were talking looking as handsome as ever and he reached out to Cena and gave him a big hug.
"You ready Champ?" Rocky asked Cena. "I'm about to marry the woman I love, you think you can keep it together for me? I heard you and Mick talking, you sound very emotional already,"
"I am emotional but this is your day, I'll hold it together for you and Bayley. You look great by-the-way," Cena said to Rocky and the People's Groom nodded.
"Thanks John, you look beautiful Mickie," Rocky said to Mickie James and she smiled at the husband-to-be.
"I'll see you guys out there," she said and she kissed John Cena on the cheek and left to go to her seat in the sanctuary of Santa Monica Baptist Church.
Rocky smiled as Mickie left and he turned to John Cena, "You're not a Bayley fan but I'm in love with her John, Plus I got Seth Rollins officiating the wedding, he's got God's ear and if anything is needed, it's God's blessing. I can't let Bayley live in a fantasy world anymore, its not good for her. I have to make this her new reality, Bayley will be Mrs Rocky Johnson today and this is the most important day of her life," he said to Cena.
John Cena held his emotions in but it was clear from his face that he had so much to say, right now was just not the time to say it, so instead, he smiled at his friend and hugged him tight.
"This is your day Dwayne, let's make it one to remember," Cena said and Rocky nodded with a tear in his eye.
"Let's go make a Bay City girl's dream come true," Rocky said and he left the alcove with John Cena to take his position at the altar where friends and family were waiting for his arrival.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the sanctuary, Bayley was looking at herself in the mirror with a big smile on her face. Her wedding dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli with lace running down her arms. Stephanie came in to check on her and the McMahon heiress liked what she saw.
"Bayley you look terrific," Stephanie said and Bayley nodded.
"I know, this is the whitest thing I've ever worn," she said admiring the design of the high-end bridal gown.
"You look so tall, those Choo's were a nice touch," Stephanie said admiring Bayley's diamond white wedding shoes.
"They're Sasha's," Bayley said and her hands started to tremble at the mention of the Boss. "Is she here yet?"
Stephanie nodded reluctantly, "Yeah, she's on the front row with her son and Faith Star. She also brought Becky, Bianca, Bliss and Charlotte "The Traitor" Flair. Beth is sitting with our side of the family. I just hope Hunter doesn't try to show his face, or any of his stupid DX family,"
"Okay, I just needed to know if Sasha was here," Bayley said and Stephanie could tell how much Bayley wanted Sasha to be there on the day she got married. "Rocky isn't the man I thought I'd end up marrying but whenever I thought about my wedding day, Sasha was always a part of it,"
Stephanie nodded, "I understand, you guys have been through a lot, of course you want her here. Just remember what we talked about okay? This is your special day and you can see your friends if you want but from next week, we're back to business. Don't screw this up Bayley, I am so close to getting my hands on those DX family jewels. Don't lose sight of what's really important, that is, your future and our plans for it," Stephanie said but Bayley wasn't listening. "Bayley are you listening to me?"
Bayley started to fidget and pull at the neckline of her wedding dress, "This gown needs something," she said.
"What are you talking about, you look perfect!" Stephanie said and the wedding march song played. "That's your cue Bayley!"
Bayley took a deep breath and Stephanie opened the door so she could take her position at the top of the aisle. As everyone stood to their feet and Stephanie held the hem of Bayley's dress, Bayley walked towards the altar veiled, holding a bouquet of lilacs that covered her twitchy fingers. As she walked towards the altar, she handed Stephanie her bouquet and hoisted up her wedding dress. She saw Sasha and the God girls watching her cautiously while everyone was watching her from the other side of the church.
"Sasha," she whispered to the Boss, "I need some of your jewellery, this wedding dress needs something," Bayley said and Bianca shook her head.
"No jewellery," she said to Sasha firmly but the Boss agreed with Bayley. As beautiful as Bayley's wedding dress was, there was something missing; something blue.
"Can you please pray over this?" Sasha said to the God girls and they watched as the Boss revealed a necklace with a giant sapphire stone in the middle that she had in her bag.
"You bought Bayley jewellery?!" Becky said in disbelief and Sasha nodded.
"I knew she was going to need it and she clearly does, just pray over it so that nothing weird happens when she puts it on," Sasha said.
"Something weird will happen, you can't give her that," Bianca said but Sasha was insisting Bayley wear the necklace.
Bianca looked at Seth who was in position at the altar, clearly trying to give him some kind of signal. She sent him a text telling him what Sasha wanted to give to Bayley and Seth shot his wife a look of disapproval.
"Seth said no jewellery," Bianca told Sasha but the Boss chose to ignore them both and she got up and walked up to Bayley.
"You're right, this dress does need something and this is it," Sasha said and she pulled back the veil covering Bayley's agitated face and she locked the sapphire necklace around her neck.
Bayley smiled brightly and she hugged Sasha and cried over her shoulder, "Thank you Sasha, I don't know what I'd do if you didn't come to my wedding," she said and Sasha nodded before forcing herself to break the hug and take her seat. Seth was already seething and she didn't want to make him any madder than he was already.
Rocky's jaw was on the floor, "You look so beautiful," he said to Bayley as she stood by his side.
"It just needed a lil something, something blue," Bayley said tapping her new necklace as everyone took their seats so the service could begin.
"One second ladies and gentleman," Seth said addressing everyone in the sanctuary and he stepped towards Bayley and extended his hand with a serious look on his face, "Give me the necklace, or I'm not officiating this wedding,"
Rocky looked at Seth like he was crazy, "Seth relax, what does God have against sapphire blue jewellery?" he said whimsically, he was too happy to let anything upset him. Bayley was the most beautiful bride he'd ever seen.
"Give it to me Bayley, or I walk," Seth said and Bayley looked down clearly upset about having to remove the necklace on the spot but she did as she was asked and Seth gave it back to Sasha.
"It was the thought that counts," Bayley said to Sasha who put the necklace away humbly and Bayley looked over at Rocky, "I feel naked without it," she said and Rocky gave her a People's Eyebrow.
"I love the thought of you being naked," she said and Bayley blushed while Seth tried not to let his wife's disobedience upset him.
"So, this is a very special occasion where two people will become one in the sacred union of marriage under the banner of our Holy God," Seth said while Bayley felt the cold space where a necklace once lay. What Bayley didn't realise is that there was reason she felt naked and Seth was going to fill her in shortly.
"I've known this woman for a long time Rocky," Seth said to the Rock, "I know everything about her, I even know why she wants to cover up her neck so bad right now,"
Rocky listened intently as did Sasha and the God girls, "Bayley's heart is open right now and for the first time in over a year, her heart is exposing itself right in front of the people who know her best. It is going to take more than an impressive piece of jewellery to change what's going on underneath that beautiful dress. Bayley's been hiding a lot in that heart of hers for years but the minute you two exchange vows and say, "I do," Bayley won't be able to hide what's in her heart anymore. She won't be able to cover it up, everything about her will be exposed and you will know her for real. I want you to look at her Rocky,"
Rocky turned to Bayley, with his hands over hers and he looked into her eyes before Seth continued.
"I want you to look into her eyes, passed the mascara and the eyeliner and those fake eye lashes, I want you to look deep into her eyes and think of everything you ever wanted in a wife," Seth said and Rocky smiled as he looked into Bayley's eyes.
"Bayley is smart, she's strong, she's creative and she's impossible to ignore. This is the woman you are going to wake up to every morning and the woman you are going to fall asleep next to every night. Now, I want you to stop looking into her eyes and I want you to look at her heart," Seth said and Rocky lowered his eyes to wear Bayley's heart was thumping like crazy against her chest.
Bayley suddenly felt nervous and she pulled her hand behind her neck and started to fidget.
"What are you looking at?" she asked the Rock defensively and he looked into Bayley's heart as Seth had instructed him to.
Seth waited patiently while everyone looked on curious as to what Rocky was going to say.
"So, what do you see when you look into her heart Rocky? Do you see the woman that you love, that is going to have your children and be by your side, in sickness and in health, through the good and the bad, is that what you see when you look into her heart? The heart that she is trying so desperately to hide from you, so you don't see what's really going on in there? What do you see Rock? Tell Bayley what you see when you look into her heart," Seth said simply and Rocky sighed before looking back up at Bayley.
"I see a broken heart, I also see a broken friendship," Rocky said and he turned and looked over at Seth, "and I see you. Your name is inscribed on her heart. Why is it there Seth?" Rocky asked Seth. "She doesn't love you anymore, she loves me. I'm the man for her, not you,"
Bayley turned Rocky towards her, "Don't listen to him he's just using his Jesus mind trick on you so we don't get married. He's not the man I want, you are!" Bayley insisted and she turned to Seth firmly, "Now Seth, do your job and marry us, stop playing marriage counsellor, you can do that after we get married," Bayley said and Seth shrugged.
"I just thought Rocky should know who you really want to marry, that's all," Seth said and Bayley squeezed her hands together tightly, almost cutting off the blood supply to Rocky's heart.
"Bayley, you're hurting me!" Rocky cried out but Bayley wouldn't let go. "Bayley let go of me!"
"I hate you, I hate you so much I can't even get the words out!" Bayley snapped at Seth still squeezing down onto Rocky's wrists. "You spoiled this day for me, you couldn't just let me have one day to myself, you had to make it all about you and Sasha didn't you?!" Bayley said furiously.
"Bayley let go of him," Seth said but Bayley would not release the Rock.
"You mean, let go of him the way I let go of you? You're the one bringing up the past Seth, why don't you let me go huh? Instead you spoil what should be the greatest day of my life!" Bayley said enraged and Rocky felt his wrists snap.
"That's enough Bayley, I'm sorry I won't say another word about what's in your heart," Seth said but the damage had already been done. As the Rock just realised first hand, Bayley was in a lot of pain and he was in for a lot more of it.
"It's okay Bayley, I still want to marry you. Please try not to let our day be ruined, this can still be the best day of your life," Rocky said wincing in pain.
"No, the day's ruined, Seth ruined it," Bayley said and she pulled down her veil and walked back up the aisle much to everyone's shock.
"Bayley you get back here!" Rocky cried out still holding his broken wrists and Bayley stopped in her tracks. "I love you, I love all of you; the past is just that, it's the past, please don't let it affect our future. We can be happy, just give me a chance to get through to that black heart of yours. It's not your fault you fell in love with your best friend but you can't carry around anymore of this hurt. Bayley, get back here and let's finish what we started,"
Bayley stood motionless as eveyrone watched her waiting to see what she was going to do. Slowly, Bayley turned back around and walked back to the altar. Rocky wept with relief as she came back and stood by his side.
"Let's keep this thing going," she said to Rocky as he nursed his broken wrists.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Seth asked them both and Bayley removed her veil and gave Seth the darkest look a woman could ever give a man.
"I'm sure Seth, I always finish what I start and Seth, I'm not finished with you, not by a long shot," she blasted Seth and the God girls froze looking at Sasha who was now worried for her husband's wellbeing as the wrath of Bayley Black Heart was set on Seth Rollins once again.
