Waking up is always a big feat for Marinette and today was not the exception. She felt exhausted for last night, since she got home at about 3:00 AM and only slept for about 4 hours. With the little strength she had, Marinette got up and walked like a zombie to the bathroom to take a shower. With the water falling onto her face, many different thoughts came to her mind, especially how she and Chat Noir had developed a powerful friendship over the last year. They were perfect for each other, in terms of teamwork of course, so they became capable of protecting the people of Paris and whoever was at risk. That last quiet night made her see the importance of having someone next to her even more; Ladybug and Chat Noir are the perfect team, because they understand each other even without words, they follow the actions of the other and they can blindly trust the person who is more likely to protect the other's life. These are the exact same reasons why Marinette is so mad at herself, since her partner does not know her secrete identity and vice versa; which has led to Chat not getting on time to some battles and having Rena Rouge help instead. And Chat notices it.

'He feels left out' Marinette murmured to herself.

She then realized that she might not have checked the hour she woke up and just directly ran to the shower, so, as fast as she could, she managed to dry her body and get dressed, just to find out that there were 30 minutes left before she went to school. Marinette noticed that Tikki was not in the room, but sometimes, the kwami would wake up and go to the rooftop until her owner called her. After combing and putting on some accessories, Marinette went to check on Tikki.

"Hey Tikki, I think I am a little too early". Marinette started a conversation.

"Good Morning Mari". Tikki answered, but she seemed somewhat discouraged.

"You okay, you look a little tired". Marinette asked, she was obviously worried about her kwami.

"I just could not sleep well last night, that's all". Tikki said, as she tried to hide her preoccupation.

"Okay" Marinette simply decided not to take it any further. "By the way, I've been thinking about talking to Chat Noir, I've sensed that he might be a little under the weather, especially the last week he seemed kind of tense, just to cheer him up". When Tikki heard what Marinette just said, her face got pale.

"I think that is a wonderful idea". Tikki commented, trying to sound convincing.

"Yes, I am actually really excited to talk with him today, we both might need it". The hero of Paris added, Tikki just wanted to scream. "Anyway, I think we should be getting downstairs, so I can get some breakfast before we leave". After that conversation, Tikki got into Marinette's purse and they both headed to the kitchen.

When Marinette finally got to the kitchen ready to have breakfast, her parents decided to turn the tv on and watch any show that might be related to fashion, in fact, this is kind of a tradition when the daughter of Tom and Sabine is not running late for school. They thought it was going to be a normal morning until they saw that the coverage of the news was Gabriel Agreste covered in blood being chased by paparazzi. What the reporter was saying was beyond awful.

"Adrien Agreste, son of famous designer, Gabriel Agreste, was taken to emergencies at 4:00AM. We do not have details, but rumours state that maybe Gabriel has been abusing his son or that he tried to commit suicide. We know that the lives of these two figures have not been easy since the death of Emilie Agreste, husband and mother of the two mentioned before respectively. We might have to wait a little longer until we can finally get the information we need, but as for now this is what we have, but we will try to get more answers in the following hours" … that reporter had no shame.

"Poor child, going through something like that and have no privacy must be hard". Sabine said.

"Marinette, I know he is your friend, but right now, he needs you to be strong, okay?". Tom held his daughter and tried to console her. Marinette's face was red and covered in tears.

"I… I know that Gabriel would not abuse his son, he is the only family he has left since Adrien's mother passed, but I do not want to believe that Adrien tried to kill himself, he has always looked fine". Marinette was sobbing as she spoke about her thoughts.

"Listen honey, I do not think Gabriel tried to hurt his son. That man might be many things, but he is not an abuser. But we don't know what happened, maybe it was an accident and the media is just doing everything that can be done to get more views". Sabine talked as motherly as she could get, as she tried to, but then, the reporter appeared again and this time he was showing images of Gabriel leaving the hospital.

"Gabriel Agreste, accompanied by his bodyguard, is covered in blood. Apparently he did not accept any question from any members of the media. By the look on his face, his son might actually be in a serious condition…". Tom decided to turn off the tv.

Marinette started to cry again, she did not know how to react if it was not like that. Her dad held her and tried to console her, rubbing his palm in her back, while Sabine was kissing her hand. "Listen baby, if you do not want to go to school today, it's completely understandable". Marinette's mom told her in a very empathic tone.

"It's okay mommy, I can go, I'm fine". The daughter of the bakers said with a sad voice. Then Marinette noticed that she was running late. "Dang it! I've got to go! Bye". The girl screamed. Her parents stayed still, thinking.

"Do you really think it was all a misunderstanding?". Tom asked quiet troubled.

"What was I supposed to tell her Tom? It was just a reasonable lie, Marinette was inconsolable". Sabine stated.

The next few days are going to be hard.

The environment at school felt awkward. Everyone knows who Adrien Agreste is, so everyone was gossiping about what happened. It was all over the news, Adrien and Gabriel Agreste were twitter tendencies, and it felt wrong, as if everyone was expecting for a moment like this to happen to simply bad mouth about someone. Marinette was completely angry at every single student; Adrien is one of the nicest people in the entire world and he has always been there for anyone who needed it, and this is how they pay him.

Alya and Nino appeared right behind Marinette, but even with her experience as Ladybug, they caught her by surprised; Nino seemed overly worried and sad, and no one could blame him, he was best friend's with Adrien; Alya was also worried, but she was trying to be strong for Nino.

"Hey girl, did you watch the news?" Alya asked, with a sad voice, while hugging Nino.

"Yeah, they were too… harsh". Marinette simply answered. She was on the verge of crying.

"I don't think too harsh is enough to describe how awful they were". Nino stated. He definitely was tense. "But some people would rather make some money before have an actual sense of morality".

"Hey babe, try to relax a little, everything is going to be fine". Alya tried to calm Nino down.

"How do you want me to calm down!? My best friend is in the hospital and people are destroying him and his father all over the internet!" Nino almost screamed. "I read a comment which said that Adrien was just an attention seeker, or that they were doing this for fame". Almost everyone heard Nino by this point, Marinette merely started to sob.

Alya attempted to keep it together for her best friend and her boyfriend, as they were about to break down. "Guys, I think we should go to the classroom, it's almost time". Alya mentioned, so Nino and Marinette could walk and relax a little. The three of them started to walk, knowing that this day would be one of the longest days of their lives.
