The baby was warm against her chest, his tuft of hair tickling her throat. Annabeth smiled, a little drowsy but so in love with the small little bundle laying across her chest. Her arms were holding him tight after hours of labor and the worst pain imaginable, her sweet little boy was finally here.

This little boy she had fought for since the beginning, since she found out about him. She couldn't have aborted the baby after the positive pregnancy test. She could have never let him go, let her dream of a family go. That was why she had left Percy- that was why she had promised to disappear so that his enemies couldn't find her- or he couldn't find her.

She knew it was only a matter of time before he did find her, Percy was more than capable to track her. But she wanted him to find her eventually… she wished he was here with her now. To witness the miracle that was this baby, he was the spitting image of his father. His hair light but she had inkling it would darken up as he got older.

Annabeth looked around the bedroom and saw the midwife working to clean up the area where she had just given birth. She was in France, on the Riviera- had been here for five months.

After she left Percy she moved around several times to throw whoever might follow her off her scent, when she felt comfortable enough she settled in France. In enough time to prepare for her baby.

The little boy in her arms yawned and his eyes fluttered opened, tears pricked her own eyes because Percy should be here. He should see the beautiful life they created together. She was having a moment when she regretted her decision of moving, of leaving him. But she couldn't risk his wrath, his demand of an abortion.

Annabeth had never wanted to abort any children they might have, she just agreed to it because she wanted him. Now, it felt like something foolish to agree to. Her baby let out a little cry and Annabeth tried to sit up, the midwife walked over and helped her sit up against the headboard.

After several moments her little boy was nuzzling into her breast and latching on for the first time to eat.

The midwife smiled at her, "After he finishes eating we'll let you change and clean up, he should sleep for a few hours until he's hungry again."

Annabeth nodded, "Thank you."

The midwife left the room and Annabeth looked back down at her child, marveling at him. When he finished eating, she gently patted his back until he was sound asleep. Annabeth watched him for a few minutes until she heard a loud bang and a scream.

Annabeth immediately looked toward the door of her room, she reached over for the spare pistol she kept in her purse on the nightstand. Just as she was pulling the gun from her bag the midwife crawled back into the bedroom, blood pouring from shoulder.

The baby let out a wail and Annabeth held him tighter to her chest, unsure of what to do in that moment. Just as she gripped the gun tighter Luke walked into the room- a grimace on his face.

"Took a little while to find you, looks like I got here just in time."

Annabeth glared and held her baby closer to her chest, "What do you want Luke?"

He chuckled and pointed the gun at the midwife, shooting her again. Annabeth paled and felt tears gather in her eyes. This wasn't the Luke she knew, this was the ruthless version that Kronos had created with the hate Luke had for Percy.

"I'm here to kill you and take your baby."

Annabeth pulled her unnamed child a little closer to her chest, the baby squirmed, "I won't let you take him."

Luke laughed and Annabeth placed her index finger on the trigger. Her gun hidden by her side, "You won't have a choice," Luke pointed his gun at Annabeth, "I hate that it ended up this way. If only you would have come with me the night of the ball."

Annabeth steeled herself and aimed her gun at Luke, "I'd never go anywhere with you." Luke gritted his teeth, his jaw flexing as Annabeth pulled the trigger.

Sweat was running down her back as she opened her eyes and threw the covers off of her body, her heart slamming in her chest. For several moments Annabeth laid in the bed she shared with her husband. His back to her as he slept. Annabeth reached over and ran her hand over Percy's back, as reassurance that the horrible dream was just a nightmare.

Finally, she quietly got out of bed but not before she kissed her husband's forehead and walked to the bathroom. She splashed water on her face and felt the cold hard truth of the dream slam into her.

In the dream she'd had a baby, she had just given birth to a baby boy. The same baby boy who had been a star in her dreams every night for the past two weeks. Sometimes it was good dreams but sometimes it was like the one she'd just had.

It was like her body was trying to tell her something but she just couldn't accept it, not yet. Not while she and Percy were in the midst of this fight with Kronos. Things had gotten so bad since the masked ball, so bad Annabeth hadn't left the mansion. It was a constant fear that she would get kidnapped by Kronos and used to make Percy surrender.

Annabeth felt the bile rise into her throat and she lurched to make it to the toilet before her stomach gave away. This wasn't new, either. She'd been sick like this for over a week and a half but she still didn't want to admit it. Annabeth didn't want to know what Percy would do if…. she was….

Tears ran down her face as she retched again and again. After several minutes her stomach settled and she flushed the toilet before she moved to sit against the wall. Her shoulders heaved as she sobbed into her hands, unsure of what to do.

Unsure of how to handle this.

Here, fate was handing Annabeth her dream. Her dream of a family and now wasn't the right time- it was the worst. Annabeth willed her heart to slow down and pushed herself up from the wall. She brushed her teeth and walked back into her room, deciding to push off the inevitable. She would deal with this new development but only when a sword wasn't hanging over their heads.

Annabeth looked at Percy, he was laying on his back- sound asleep. She slipped on some slippers and her house coat to venture into the kitchen for some water. Her descent into the kitchen was slow since it was dark, only lanterns placed every so often lighted her way to the kitchen.

When she was sitting at the kitchen bar with some water and a banana she finally let herself think about this newest development. The banana satisfied her now empty stomach and the water refreshed her parched throat. All evidence was pushing her toward the assumption that she was pregnant. Her period was late and she had been getting sick.

Annabeth had the foresight to keep it from Percy and so far he hadn't suspected anything. He only told her the day before that she looked more tired than usual, maybe she needed to nap. Annabeth had brushed him off with the excuse of stress and he seemed to understand.

Her husband had been dealing with too much animosity from Kronos lately. Who had upped his recruitment of Percy's men and somehow gotten his hands on even more of Percy's shipments. Percy and Reyna were in full force trying to stop the mole, trying to figure out who was trading secrets.

Annabeth knew Percy was starting to suspect someone, she just didn't know who. If he was careful with who he shared information with before, he was even more careful and watchful now. Only Reyna, Charles and Travis knew everything that was actually happening with Percy's operation.

She only knew a little herself but that was in a poor attempt to keep her safe. As much as Percy promised to let her help and to let her in on the information he still hid things from her. She had learned it was just a part of his nature- to want to protect the people closest to him. And right now that was her, she was the closest person to him… the person he cared the most about.

A bar stool scratching across the surface of the floor interrupted her thoughts. Annabeth looked toward the sound and saw the stout figure of Charles sitting next to her.

She smiled at him, "Do you ever sleep?" She teased eating the last of her banana.

He smiled a tight smile, "I saw you walking through the hallways on the surveillance feed, Mrs. Jackson."

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "Like I asked, do you ever sleep? Are you sure you're not a vampire?"

Charles laughed and grabbed the banana peeling, standing up to throw it away, "If I didn't have eyes on you twenty four seven Mr. Jackson would personally murder me."

Annabeth pursed her lips and moved to get up, "I'm sure you're here to make sure I get back to my room without fault?"

Charles nodded as she walked across the floor to the hallway. She heard his footsteps behind her and rolled her eyes. Just as she entered the foyer she noticed the camera that was placed in the corner to record every person who entered and exited the main door. There was no green light lighting the corner.

She tensed and turned around to face Charles, "Is that camera-" Her question died as she realized he wasn't behind her. Annabeth felt confusion seep into her veins, something wasn't right here. Something was going on.

Just as she turned around to continue her walk to her room, to wake Percy… to warn him something was happening- an arm came around and grasped her middle. A large hand holding a rag placed over her mouth.

"I'm so sorry, Annabeth." She heard the whisper in her ear. She recognized that whisper, it was Charles. Her vision started fading as she kicked and struggled to get out of his too strong arms. She felt betrayed and hurt. Just as she blacked out completely one certainty came to forefront of her mind.

Charles was the mole.

Percy woke up that Thursday morning automatically on alert. Something felt off to him and that meant something was definitely wrong. His hand darted out to feel for Annabeth but her side was cold and the covers thrown off to the side.

He shot out of the bed and looked around the room, he was the only person there. His senses were in overdrive as he walked around to her side of the room. He noticed her house coat was gone and so were her slippers- her cell phone and iPad sitll sitting on the bedside table.

The shower wasn't on and the bathroom door was open. Percy walked into the bathroom and looked around, he noticed the used toothbrush by the sink before he walked out of the room and put on some clothes.

When he was finally walking down the corridor to her office he tried to calm himself, maybe she had just gotten up early to work but even when she did that she still told him. She still kissed his cheek every morning before she left bed.

He knew something was wrong, everything felt off- from the moment he got out of the bed. It wasn't until his office had proved to be empty that he really began to panic, he called Charles immediately and then Reyna. His most trust bodyguard should have had eyes on her throughout the night.

Percy was pacing the carpet in front of his desk when Charles walked in, "All of the surveillance feed from last night is gone." His heart stopped and his entire body felt numb, Kronos had taken her right under his nose and he had no idea how to get her back.

"How are all of the tapes missing?" Percy asked, rage barely contained in his voice and expression.

Charles opened his mouth to respond but Reyna came in, "Kronos has Annabeth."

Percy looked at Charles but answered Reyna, "Are you sure?" He heard her confirmation but his eyes were trained on the sweat beading on his body guard's temple. His gut was telling him something he didn't want to believe but Percy had too much experience in being able to sense a liar…. and right now Charles was lying and he knew it.

He had a couple different options at the moment and considering he didn't trust Charles or any of the other body guards he couldn't call anyone in here to help him. He would just have to do it himself.

"Reyna shut the door, please." Percy asked walking around to his desk.

He sat at his desk chair as Reyna shut the door and locked it for good measure. Charles stood in the same spot he had been in since he walked in only a few minutes before. Reyna eyed him as she made her way to his desk but he didn't give off anything other than the need to talk about what was happening.

"What do you want to do Percy?" Reyna asked.

Percy opened his desk drawer and pulled out the loaded gun he always kept there, he knew he couldn't scare Reyna- they had more years than Percy could count of unlimited trust…. and that trust included not lying to one another.

Reyna raised an eyebrow at him but then a flicker of realization crossed his face. He smiled, she always caught on quickly to his plans. Her own gun was pulled from it's holster as she opened her mouth to speak.

"I assume you want to go in guns blazing and get her out? Maybe we should try a more subtle approach."

Percy laughed as he fiddled with the gun, mostly out of play, "I've had enough of subtle, Reyna…. Kronos took the one good thing I have…. in exchange for what… my business… my dignity….. my name?" Percy laughed again, "I've come to realize none of this means anything to me if I don't have her."

Reyna got up, her gun firmly by her side, "I know Percy, but we need to catch them off guard."

Percy looked straight at Charles, "What do you think, Charles. How do we catch someone off guard?"

He watched as his once most trust bodyguard moved from foot to foot, sweat beaded at his brown. It hit Percy like a freight train at that moment…. all of the missing security tapes, the secrets that only certain people knew, all of the tips that Kronos had received had come from one person. The only person who was close enough to Percy to know.

Percy just hadn't wanted to see it.

Charles was the mole, he was the one spying on Percy for Kronos.

"Shit," Percy cursed, "Are you fucking kidding me?" He asked standing up and pointing his gun straight at Charles.

Reyna looked from Charles to Percy, "He's the mole, Reyna… it's been him the whole time." Her face turned steely and she quickly had her gun pointed at Charles. Percy wanted to pull the trigger so bad but he knew the only person who could get him to Annabeth was the very person who had betrayed him.

Charles had the decency to look apologetic but Percy didn't buy it for a second.

"Why'd you do it? Did he offer you something better?" Percy asked, his heart pounding in his ears- but he was use to that. He was use to the way his hand fit so easily around the handle of his pistol.

Charles hand both of his hands in the air, "He… has my wife, sir."

Percy scoffed, "And now he has mine."

Charles looked away, "She's pregnant… and I didn't know what else to do."

Percy felt white hot anger surge through his veins, "You could have came to me, we could have gotten you out of this situation!"

Charles looked at the gun in Percy's hand, "It… wasn't that simple, sir…. I just needed to protect her… and-"

"I know what it feels like to want to protect the thing you love the most."

Charles looked down and his shoulders sagged, "I'm sorry," He whispered, "I realize now how much of mistake I made."

Percy didn't know what he wanted more; to kill Charles or Save Annabeth, "Now, you realize that? Now? My wife is in the hands of a monster and I… have no one I trust to help me get her out."

Charles didn't look up, "You, however, are going to help me… I don't trust you as far as I can throw you but you're the only option we have to get Annabeth back safely."

His old bodyguard looked up at him and nodded as Percy turned to Reyna.

"Find out where they're keeping her, I want a location in one hour."

When Annabeth awoke for the first time this morning she thought her biggest worry besides Kronos was the fact that her period was late. Now, though that seemed trivial compared to her own life that was at stake now.

Annabeth couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Charles had been the mole the whole time. Charles, the one who had protected them against their attackers over a month ago. Charles the loveable teddy bear she had come to think of him as.

Charles had been the person betraying them, the person Percy had trusted the most.

She wondered if Percy knew about Charles, she wondered what was happening at the mansion. How her husband was dealing with her disappearance. No doubt he was using brute force to find a way to get her back.

Annabeth surveyed the apartment she was locked in. It was bare, except for a mattress on the floor and the bars covering all of the widows and balcony… she briefly wondered why a top floor apartment had bars but dismissed it. Two guards were guarding the elevator entrance and she was just sitting on the floor.

The guys were very much like Charles, stoic and all muscle. She kept wracking her brain to try and find a way to get out of this but she couldn't get past the knot in her stomach. The one that had been there since her dream this morning.

She had already thrown up once when she woke up the second time but she doubted it would be the only time. Annabeth just didn't want anyone to catch on to the fact that she might be pregnant…. okay, there was no denying it at this point.

No one had come up to see her or talk to her and she knew that this would be the worst part, the waiting.

She needed a plan… a plan to get her out of here… a plan that didn't involve her getting hurt. But all she had was her dressing gown, night coat and slippers on. She had no weapon and she doubted she could go looking through this house for a weapon to use.

Using the stairs wasn't completely out of the question but once she got downstairs she didn't know what she was dealing with. Were there more guards downstairs, was Kronos himself downstairs. Was this his warehouse?

She had no idea where she was at… or how far from Percy she was. She could be out in the middle of the woods or no where near New York City. The windows didn't exactly give her a clue as to where she was at because she didn't have enough time to look and see if anything was familiar.

Annabeth heard someone say something and turned her head, one of her bodyguards was talking into his sleeve. The other watching her and everywhere all at once. She watched them for a minute and was about to turn her head when the elevator door opened.

She pushed herself up from the floor and readied herself for whoever was about to come through those doors. Annabeth recognized the blonde hair immediately, her anger returned full force.

He held his hand up when he saw the look on her face, "I warned you, Annabeth… I did… you could never say that I didn't give you a chance to pick a different side."

Annabeth clenched her hands into fist, "I made the right decision… you may have me but I don't doubt my husband's ability to beat you at this game."

Luke narrowed his eyes at her, "Your husband, huh? What happened to the psychotic asshole who forced you into this whole arrangement… If it wasn't for him neither one of us would be here. "

Annabeth took a step forward, "Don't blame Percy for your need to get revenge. This was your choice, you chose to join Kronos and I chose to forgive Percy. He's not the same person he once was."

Luke laughed, "He's gone soft… that's why we were able to trick him… that's why we were able take you."

Annabeth wanted to slap him, "He didn't go soft, he's just not an arrogant idiot like you… it seems like you and him switched personalities."

"If I get my payback then it was worth it."

Annabeth lifted a hand to her heart, she wanted to place it on her stomach and protect her unborn child from Luke and his awful words, "Luke, what about when this is all over? What happens then. Will you be happy?"

Luke smirked, "I'll be ecstatic when Percy is dead and you're mine."

Annabeth huffed out a laugh, "I'll never be yours."
Luke lifted his hand and handed her a pile of clothes, a towel and toiletry items, "We'll see about that. In the meantime… take a shower and get dressed, Kronos wants to have some fun with your husband."

Percy felt his stomach roll as he watched the video that had been delivered to him ten minutes ago. He was nauseous as he watched Kronos talk about wanting a meeting with him, when and what time. His eyes zeroing in on Annabeth in the background, her face fierce and her hands wrapped around midsection.

He wondered if she had been hurt or if she was just as sick as he was at this whole situation. Reyna still hadn't found out exactly where they were keeping Annabeth, they had a couple different locations and Percy was determined to search all of them tonight.

Until the video had shown up.

Reyna was beside him and hopefully catching everything that was being said. Because all he could see was the way Luke was running his hands up and down Annabeth's body. It was the same way Percy had done so long ago in a warehouse by the docks.

He never realized the tables would be turned on him. He never realized his mistakes would come back to haunt him just as he allowed himself to love again.

The thought had a fresh wave of nausea rolling over him again. Love. He loved Annabeth so much it hurt and now she was in the hands of a truly psychotic man. He knew she could handle herself, he had seen her strength first hand.

But he was scared that maybe he had torn her down so much that she didn't have any strength left to fight. That was put to rest when Annabeth elbowed Luke in the gut during Kronos' speech.

He didn't catch what Luke said because Kronos had yanked Annabeth forward and Luke had sauntered off the screen hurling what sounded like curses.

"You definitely know how to pick them Percy," Kronos said pushing some of Annabeth's hair aside. She grimaced and pulled away from his touch.

Percy almost smiled.

Kronos just grinned as Annabeth wrapped her arms around her midsection again. Percy thought it was odd for a moment, she had never done that before. In all the times he had yelled, insulted and torn her down she had never curled in on herself.

It was almost like she was protecting….

The TV shut off and Percy turned back to Reyna, "I want to watch it again."

Reyna nodded once and pressed play on the DVD player. He watched it over and over and over again. Detailing every single thing he could, watching Kronos, Annabeth and Luke. Trying to see if she gave off any hints, he wished now they had set up some kind of code word. Something only the two of them knew.

He still thought it was odd the way Annabeth had her arms wrapped around herself but the only option the could think of wasn't really an option at all. So, he pushed it from his thoughts.

But a small 'what if' was still there and it made the matter all the more urgent.

The urgent need to get her away from the Kronos and end this whole conflict once and for all.

"Percy, what do you want to do?" Reyna asked turning the TV and DVD player off. He looked at the black screen, everything becoming more clear the longer he looked at it.

"We're going to meet Kronos on his terms and end this."

Reyna pursed her lips, her eyes turning calculating- which was his favorite look on her, "I have an idea but… you might not like it."

Percy lifted up from the desk he was leaning against and went to his bar. He took the decanter his whiskey was in and took a long gulp- stealing himself… or drowning himself he didn't know.

"Whatever it is I'll do it…. as long as it gets Annabeth back." Reyna nodded one sharp nod and began telling him her plan in excruciating detail.
