AT WYATT AND SAM'S…
"I'll be back soon" Wyatt kissed Sam who was lying on the living room couch, feet up.
"If anything comes up, you call us" said Chris holding Bianca's hand.
"We will" said Bianca kissing him, making his blush as he was very aware he was being watched. Sam and Wyatt smiled at the pair of lovebirds.
"It's almost nap time, so Angie's bottle is ready to be heated in the warmer" Wyatt instructed Bianca.
"I am still around, you know?" Sam smiled at her husband. "Might take me a couple hours to get up but still…" Bianca smiled.
"I got it" she said. Wyatt bent down to kiss his wife again, which went a little further than a peck on the lips making both Bianca and Chris blush now. "Love you" they whispered to each other. Wyatt took one last deep breath and both brothers orbed away.
"You OK?" Sam asked Bianca, who suddenly looked nervous.
"Sure. I got… no experience with babies" she confessed as the kids played around the living room by her feet.
"It's alright. You'll get the hang of it" she said thinking of a future Bianca holding her own child.
"How do you do it?"
"Do what?"
"Chris tells me you've been together almost five years now" She sat on the edge of the couch. Sam smiled at how fast time passes by unnoticed. "How do you look at each other as if you were looking at each other for the first time?"
"It's hard to put it into words. We just… complete each other every time we're together. It's not something that happened to us, it's something that happens every time we're in the same room" Sam couldn't help but to keep on smiling. "That how you feel about Chris at all?" Bianca shifted on her seat uncomfortably.
"I… don't know. When I'm with him… it's like… I know that's where I'm supposed to be. Like… I couldn't picture myself any place better than where he is" Sam smiled.
"Good. That's good. He's worth that and more"
"I know. That's what scares me sometimes" Bianca was being honest. "That I'm not as much as he deserves" Sam reached for her hand.
"You are" Sam told her. She knew what it was like to feel you weren't enough for the one you loved all too well. "Our line has come a really long way for happiness" Sam's thoughts dwelled on their ancestors. Two different species coming together in love. Creating something unique throughout time.
"What if I can't make him happy?"
"But you already do. Can't you see?" Sam said as she heard those same insecurities she had when dating Wyatt coming out from someone else's mouth.
"But for how long?" said Bianca still doubtful.
"For however long, honey. You think we know how long we have with each other. It's precisely the not knowing that makes us love each other so… we just keep fighting to have another day" Sam sighed and put her hand on her unborn child, thinking of a beautiful future to come still. "Where's all this coming from?"
"He's been telling me we should tell his parents" Bianca started cracking her knuckles nervously. "I'm not sure it's a good idea… yet"
"Think they'll disapprove?" Bianca nodded. "One thing you need to understand is that it doesn't matter who we've been before, all that matters is where you choose to go from here"
"I don't know. There's a lot of blood on my hands. How can I erase that?"
"You can't. Can't change what's done, but you can work hard towards making amends" Sam's mind wondered back to her daughter's death for a second and gulped repeatedly trying to shake off the pain. "You can only hope the future brings new opportunities and you can strive to be brave enough to take them once they do" a tear escaped down her cheek and she wiped it off as soon as she could.
"I admire you for what you did" said Bianca without hesitation.
"Yeah, well… don't" Sam smiled bitterly.
"I've killed because I was supposed to" Bianca said and the words seemed so foreign to her now. "But never did it because it was the right thing to do, because there was a greater good behind it" Sam kept trying to breathe through the pain and not break down in front of the children.
"She's still dead"
"I don't see it that way" Bianca stared at little Meghan. "I think… you've given her another chance. A better one even. One where the world would be better because she's in it" Sam stared at her baby girl playing with her wooden puzzles and for the first time in weeks, she felt the tiniest speck of hope.
MEANWHILE AT THE MANOR…
That day, the day started as sunny as can be and when they orbed to the manor and parties started to arrive, it became cloudy as if their gloom invaded even the sky above.
"Hello, everyone" said Wyatt, Chris by his side. "I've called you because there's something I need to share with you… about Elak" They all turned towards Piper as soon as he mentioned her.
"Honey, if that has anything to do with what happened to me, I'm alright" Piper interrupted. "Let's just… move past it"
"No, mom… It's not" he smiled painfully. The attention back on him. All of a sudden, he couldn't think of any way to say it out loud.
"After what happened to mom and me" Chris started to speak. "Wyatt took mom to the hospital, we called you guys and then… orbed to their house where we bumped into Future Wyatt"
"Apparently the whole underworld was sure they had killed one of us and he was making sure it hadn't been Sam" Wyatt went on. "Which made her chase after him when he set off to kill Elak" using that name hurt him so, but he couldn't bring himself to use Meghan's in front of them, even though they were fully aware of who she really was. "Elak…" something in his throat kept getting tighter, making it hard to breathe as his eyes watered dangerously.
"She killed Future Wyatt" Chris went on causing some to gasp and stare at Wyatt now, foolishly looking for any visible injuries, which was way beyond impossible. "And then Sam…" he went silent unsure if he was the one who should deliver this piece of news about his niece. He stared at his big brother sympathetically.
"…killed Elak" Wyatt went on after a moment in words barely louder than a whisper, but as everyone in the room clung to his every word, they had no problem making out what he'd said. His throat still aching but feeling lighter at the same time "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before" Silence befell the room again.
"Honey, it's alright, you had bigger things to worry about" Phoebe broke the silence, her voice quavering even against her best efforts to keep composure. She walked over to Piper, as did Paige. Piper was pocker faced, staring into her son's eyes. Wyatt held her stare only for a moment, before he had to look away.
"You could have mentioned it" said Penelope, Paige's eldest.
"Penelope!" said her dad.
"No, dad. We've been raiding the underworld looking for any signs of her, putting our lives a risk because we were trying to stop all those horrible things they kept telling us about" she added heatedly.
"We should have mentioned something earlier, but…" Chris tried to step in for his brother.
"But what? Couldn't find the time between actually orbing down with us?" Penelope retorted.
"Penelope, that's enough!" said Paige giving her a menacing look.
"You're right"
"Wyatt, you don't…"
"You are right. I stupidly believed that after fulfilling my duty (he chuckled) to the world. I could give us a moment to heal, but… that's just not gonna happen" Everybody remained silent.
"Wyatt" Piper stood up and walked toward him. "Some wounds heal… with time" she caressed his face as his eyes kept watering against his best efforts. "Others… become more bearable, but I promise you, it will get better" Wyatt's gaze still dropped away from his mother. "Go home" she kissed his cheek tenderly. She gave Chris a nod signaling to go with him and a moment later they orbed away.
Piper turned to the rest of the clan.
"In this family, we've learnt what it is to have what you love taken away from you in the most brutal and unfair ways…" Phoebe and Paige's minds landed on their sister Prue, their mother Patty…
"We've known the kind of sacrifices you need to do to keep the world safe… some… way more than we're willing to pay…" they remembered Cole and how they had to lose Leo to keep him alive…
"But I also know, the only way we've made it through… the only way we've made it this far, was to stick together…" she paused and then stared at her niece Penelope. "We have every right to be angry when we unintentionally are put at risk but… we also share a responsibility to be there for each other when we hurt the most, no questions asked"
"Wyatt and Sam had to do something… I'm not sure I would have been able to do… even for the sake of the world" Phoebe added staring at her children, hugging Praline who was the closest.
"We'll try our best to honor their sacrifice" Paige said solemnly.
There wasn't anything left to say after that. One by one, parties left the manor. The sky was a dull gray as if in respect for the family.
