Marco continued to stay with Lisa. August took his father's some of his things the morning after the confrontation with George. A month into their relationship, Marco was driving Lisa home after their date. "That car is right on my tail," he complained.
"Pull over so it can pass you."
Marco had a bad feeling, "I think I should just keep driving." They bumped Marco's. "What the hell?" He decided to try and ignore the car, but it hit them harder this time and Lisa gasped in pain. "I'll turn at the next street and try to lose him." Suddenly, the car drove up beside them and rammed the car. Marco sped up, "call Emma." He drove as fast as he could without crashing, but he couldn't shake the other car. Lisa called Emma and the sheriff had the woman stay on the phone while she tracked them. Marco made a quick turn towards the stables, but the car crashed into a few haystacks. It was stuck. Marco jumped out of the car and ran to the passenger side. He took Lisa's hand, "we need to hurry and hide." Marco wrapped one arm around the woman and held her hand with the other. He made sure to hold her close. Both jumped when they heard gunshots. Marco kept ahold of his girlfriend and tried to quicken their pace. "I know a place to hide," he whispered. Marco helped Lisa into a storage room and locked the door behind them. He took her into his arms. "Don't worry, everything will be alright. I'm sure Emma will be here soon."
"I know whose car that was," she whispered.
"What?"
"I know that it was too dark to see the driver, but I recognized the car. It's George's," she revealed.
"Let's sit down," Marco whispered, "I don't want you to strain your back." He gently lowered them both to the ground. They sat against a wall in each other's arms, silent.
They could hear George outside, "I know you're around here somewhere," the man said. "Just make it easy on everyone and come out here." He kept calling for them and searching. Eventually, the voice was gone, but they remained quiet just in case.
It was moments later when they heard someone else. "Marco!" a voice called. It was Emma's.
"Stay here," Marco told Lisa. He stood and moved to unlock the door. When he quietly opened it, he saw Emma, "Emma," he whispered.
Emma turned, "dad, they're over here." Both Emma and David went to the room. "Are you two alright?"
"Yes, I think so."
Emma turned on the light. David went to help Marco get Lisa off of the floor. "Thank you," she said to both Emma and David. "Did you find George?"
"How did you know it was him?" David asked.
"I recognized the car."
"He's being taken care of," Emma said. "I called Ella to let her know that you got a flat and I was going to help. I didn't want to scare them into coming down here."
Emma held the door while David and Marco helped Lady Tremaine take the step out of the room. They escorted the couple to their car and even back to the house. Just to be on the safe side. Marco helped his date into the house and over to the couch. "Are you two going to tell us the real reason you were late?" Clorinda asked.
"Emma told you," Lisa said.
"She told us something to keep us from worrying. We weren't sure until you both walked in. Marco hasn't let go of you and you're white as a sheet," Ella said.
"George was following us," Lisa revealed as she began to cry.
"He kept hitting the car and I kept trying to lose him," Marco added. "We managed to hide at the stables until Emma and David found us."
"Are you both alright?" Thomas asked.
"We're a bit shaken up, and I think Lisa's back hurts."
"It does," she choked out through tears. "It's manageable though."
"I'll get you a pain pill," Tisbe said before leaving the room.
"You probably shouldn't be walking right now," Jacob said. "You're upset and in pain. I'll get your wheelchair. The last thing you need is to fall."
"Thank you," Lisa said as he left the room too.
Tisbe came back with a pain pill and some water, "mother, do you want to wait until you're in bed?"
"I probably should."
"I'll take the pills and water to your room and set them on Marco's side." The girl walked away and Jacob came in with the wheelchair.
Marco helped Lisa into the chair and thanked Jacob. He wheeled her to the bedroom. After Tisbe left, Marco shut and locked the door. "My side?"
Lisa smiled, "I guess everyone is just used to you being here now."
Marco helped her get ready for bed. She groaned as he helped her move from the chair to the bed. Marco gave her a pain pill and helped her to lie down. He was very serious about Lisa, but he couldn't take the next step without his son's approval. Marco had the approval of Lisa's family, but his son hadn't spent much time with the woman. He sent August a message explaining what he was thinking. Marco looked over and saw Lisa was still awake, "I can't believe that pill hasn't put you to sleep yet."
After his phone dinged, Lisa looked at him, "what's that?"
"Oh, I'm texting August. I feel like I haven't talked to him in ages."
"He's probably mad at me."
"No, he knows what's going on and is fine with me being here. I'll turn the phone on silent so it doesn't disturb you." When he looked at Lisa again, she was asleep. August told his father that he only wanted him to be happy. If Lisa makes him happy then that's more than fine with him. August said they could spend more time together when things calmed down for her so she wasn't overwhelmed.
A week later, Marco and Lisa went to his house to join August for dinner. "You two sure have been getting into a lot of trouble," August said when he saw them.
"Believe me," Lisa said, "it's not by choice."
"We don't even follow the wrong crowd," Marco said, "the wrong crowd follows us."
"I'm glad you're both alright. Lisa, how's your back? Papa said that it was sore after that night."
"It's much better," she said, "thank you."
"Don't let him string you along," August joked, "he can't just expect you to wait."
She chuckled, "well, I've waited this long for him. I suppose I can wait a little longer."
"If we took the next step, Clorinda and Jacob would start fighting about him not taking the next step," Marco said.
"That's true," Lisa agreed, "I don't think that will be much longer."
"Do you think he'll propose soon?" August asked.
Lisa just smiled and Marco turned to his son, "that look means that she knows he's going to propose soon but can't tell us because she promised not to."
The woman laughed and August went, "ah, that makes sense."
That night the three had a wonderful dinner. Before they left, Marco went up to his son, "thank you for making such an effort tonight. That really means a lot to me."
"Hey, don't mention it. I really didn't have to make much of an effort. She's really changed and I think you need to go for it when the time's right."
Marco hugged his son. That night when they went home, Marco pulled Jacob aside. "Look, I told you that I would wait to propose until after you and Clorinda got married. Propose because I'm ready to marry my love."
"I have it planned out."
"Good, and don't wait too long for the wedding."
"You can get engaged after I propose to Clorinda."
"I know, but I think the focus should be on the two of you. The girls will insist on helping Lisa with our wedding."
Jacob gave Marco his word that he'd propose to Clorinda by the end of the week and that the wedding would be no later than six months from now. Marco could work with that.
Jacob had finally proposed to Clorinda and even received Lady Tremaine's blessing. The young woman was thrilled to finally marry the love of her life. Clorinda asked her sisters and her mother to help her plan the wedding. Ella was matron of honor and Tisbe was maid of honor. Planning the wedding was a good thing to keep Lisa occupied and upbeat. She enjoyed every second of it. Six months later, Clorinda and Jacob married. A week after their wedding, Marco made a romantic dinner for Lisa. That night, he proposed. Three months later they were married and Alexandra was calling Marco 'pop'. Tisbe moved into Snow and David's old loft. She wasn't there alone for long. The girl had been secretly dating August for months. Luckily no one asked the man if he was dating. Otherwise, he'd be made of wood by now. Clorinda and Jacob decided to move into a loft as well to enjoy their newlywed life.
A year after the accident, Lisa was no longer relying on her cane. She was able to get around on her own for the most part. Everyone had decided to go out to dinner one night. Lisa waited for her granddaughter to find her shoes while everyone went to the car. She helped Alexandra put her shoes on. Lisa went to stand but sat back down when she felt a sharp pain in her back. "Nana, what's matter?" Alexandra asked.
"Mother?" Ella walked in and found Lisa sitting on the couch and Alexandra with her. "We're all waiting for you." Ella looked at the woman and noticed something, "your back?"
"Yes," Lisa breathed out. "Could you grab my cane?"
"Of course," Ella went to the woman's room and retrieved the cane. She held onto her stepmother to help her stand. "Alexandra, go to the car and tell daddy that we'll be there soon." Lisa moaned in pain as they started to walk. "Maybe we should stay home?"
"No, I'll be fine."
"Well, you're clearly in pain and now you're shaking."
"I need to get out."
"Okay, but if you feel that you need to come home then tell us. It won't be a problem."
The entire night was exhausting for Lisa. She needed Marco to help her from the car to the couch. Thomas had offered to carry her to bed, but her daughters wanted to turn the bed down first. Plus, she wasn't ready to go to bed. "Thank you, dear."
"You're welcome," he said with a smile.
After his wife told him she was ready, Thomas carried Lisa to her bedroom and placed her in her wheelchair that Ella had set out. That way, Marco could easily help his wife get ready for bed. Everyone left and told Marco to find them if he needed help. Marco managed to help his wife get ready for bed and get her into bed. He held Lisa until she fell asleep, which didn't take long.
Lady Tremaine was able to live an independent life. There would be times when she'd need her cane or need help of some kind, but there were plenty of people around for that. When she first arrived in Storybrooke, Lisa never thought that this would be her life. She was happily married along with two of her daughters. The other daughter was in a serious relationship. She had earned everyone's forgiveness, and three more baby girls had been added to the family as well. First, Ella and Thomas welcomed their second daughter, Elizabeth. Clorinda and Jacob welcomed twin girls named Lisetta and Ellianna. While it had been a long and painful journey, Lady Lisa Tremaine was now living her best life.
