After Phoebe was back to normal, Piper and Leo made their leave, having late dinner at Wyatt's before taking Melinda home.

The remaining hours or the day seemed to fly by among the massive number of feelings cluttered up around Phoebe's family.

Once the sun was long gone, Phoebe stood out on the balcony, leaning on the rail, staring at the sky and the lights about the city in silence.

"Coming?" Coop put his arms around her waist and kissed the side of her head.

"In a minute" she sighed brushing her face against his. Coop let Phoebe have her moment of peace and after kissing her lips, went to their bedroom to wait for her, so they could read together before bed as was their custom. Phoebe stared back up at the sky, feeling a mix of release and anguish in the pit of her stomach.

"Got a minute?" Phoebe was startled by an unexpected visitor. She turned around and saw Bianca, her daughter, wearing her pajamas, standing not too far away from her just inside the living room. "Sorry if I scared you"

"No. It's alright" Phoebe went to hug her, afraid for a second she might not want her to, but she gladly held her mother.

"What are you doing here so late?" Phoebe held her hands in hers.

"What happened today…" Phoebe gulped and closed her eyes. She meant to apologize but was cut off by her daughter's words. "needed to be said" she completed to her surprise.

"I'm not sure that's true"

"But it is" Bianca took a deep breath and her eyes strayed away from her mother seeking comfort on some nothing on the floor. "I admit some of the things you said were hard to hear. I am kinda hurt of that little part of you that still doesn't trust me"

"Honey…"

"However… I also understand that no matter how old or how ready I am to have my own life, you will still be my mom and it's your job to question every move I make" she smiled at her mother. Phoebe smiled feeling her eyes getting warmer by the second. "And I appreciate that you love me so much"

"So much"

"I also know I made some selfish decisions… which I can't regret… cause… I didn't do any of them to hurt any of you. I made them for myself. I got to a place in my life where being a part of this family just wasn't enough anymore… I don't mean it like…"

"I know, baby. I know" Phoebe said truthfully having been there herself.

"You won't lose me, mom" Phoebe was the one whose eyes tried to escape to something away from her daughter now. She nodded holding back her tears. "I'll always be my mother's daughter" Bianca said hugging her mother again. Phoebe let her tears and her smile mingle as she held on to her baby girl.

MEANWHILE AT WYATT'S…

"Bag ready?" he asked putting his arms around her waist, resting his hands on their unborn child.

"Yeah, I have to stop putting things in or I'll be needing a suite instead of a hospital room" Wyatt chuckled kissing her cheek repeatedly.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm not that tired. I mean, I am… but I'm not really sleepy. My back is still killing me though"

"I can help you with that" he said starting to kiss her neck now. His hands going to massage her lower back gently so.

"That feels nice" she said as the pain subdued under the pressure of his hands against her sore back.

"Tell me about it" his hands slowly diverted from task and slid to her bottom as part of the route.

"You better behave, mister" she smiled tilting her head to allow his kissing.

"Hard to do at the moment" he smiled between kisses. "Well… kids are in bed, so… maybe we can find something to do to get you ready for bed"

"Is that so?"

"Aha..." he whispered with a big smile on his face. Sam turned to face him with expecting eyes, he was so beautiful. Her hand caressing his hair and the side of his face, utterly lost in her soulmate. Wyatt held the side of her head in return, keeping a hand on her lower back; she pressed against his palm taking in his scent. "God, I love you" Sam rested her head on his chest as close as her bulging abdomen allowed her to. "How did you get so perfect?" his hands caressed the length of her back in affectionate strokes.

Wyatt tilted his head down to stare into her eyes, her look suddenly astray. She took a noticeable deep breath and then held Wyatt by the sides.

"You alright?" he asked suddenly concerned. She nodded still wincing as the pain ran through her lower back and down to her legs.

"Yeah…" she took longer breaths. "I think we're getting very close" she panted between breaths. Wyatt's smile came back in full as he kissed the top of her head, helping her to sit on the edge of the bed.

"Here" he said helping her lie down and pressing on her lower back again. "That good?" Sam nodded suppressing a moan as the pain decreased slowly away. "Want me to call aunt Paige? She can check how far along you really are before we head out to the hospital?" Wyatt asked after a while of this.

"Yeah, better call her. We shouldn't be at the hospital any longer than we have to" she worked on her Lamaze breathing. Wyatt held her hand as he dialed with the other.

"Aunt Paige, Hi. Sorry to call so late but we think Sam's started labor and…" Paige orbed in a second later, phone at hand. "Won't you come and take a look?" Wyatt finished hanging up his phone. He laughed at the sight of her in her jammies, traces of night cream on her face.

"Water broke yet?" she asked immediately.

"No. Her contractions started a few minutes ago"

"Still. Can't be too careful" Paige ran to the bathroom in the bedroom to wash her hands. "Can you scooch to the edge of the bed please? Damn I forgot my gloves"

"Top of the cabinet" said Sam being helped to the edge of the bed by her husband.

"Good. I didn't want to have to orb back to get my equipment" Paige said gloving up on her way back.

"What equipment exactly?" asked Wyatt curious.

"You know, in case you guys changed your mind and decide on a home birth after all" she said kneeling down. "It was Piper's idea. We've been brushing up on our midwife status just to be safe"

"We haven't, Aunt Paige. We just wanna delay going to the hospital to reduce the danger of exposure" he held Sam's hand who was taking deep steadying breaths.

"I'll check your cervix, sweetie. This is gonna be a little uncomfortable" Paige went on to check her advance; Wyatt remaining by her side at every step. "You don't seem to have dilated much yet. How's the pain coming?"

"Right now, I'm back to a sore back. Been having that for days now" Sam shifted uncomfortably as Paige was done with her exam.

"How long ago was the last contraction?" Wyatt checked on his phone.

"Seems like it's still gonna be a while, hun. Sorry" Paige gave her a regretful smile. "If the water breaks, that's your go time for the hospital; things will start moving a lot faster from there on" she instructed Wyatt who nodded. "Check on the time between contractions, check when they get stronger and closer together"

"Two to three minutes" Paige smiled. "We got this"

"I know you do" she smiled and caressed his cheek approvingly. "Try and keep her comfortable for now, and call your mom to help you with the kids, so you can focus on them for the time being" she added nodding to Sam by his side.

"I will"

"Call me if you need me, I'll be on alert. I'll text Phoebe so she's ready too. Just in case we need to do this here" Paige said raising her palms in a defensive kinda way. Wyatt smirked as he held on to his wife's hand. "Hang in there, kiddo" she orbed away.

Wyatt texted Piper and they were at their home within the hour. There really wasn't much any of them could do except wait, so they settled in the downstairs rooms for the night. The kids were sound asleep and they wouldn't need tending till the next day. Still, Chris insisted on staying in the living room just in case something came up. Soon enough, the uneventful night became day and Piper worked on breakfast for them all; as Leo and Chris gladly finished feeding the tiny troop, she took a tray upstairs for Wyatt and Sam. She knocked lightly on the door and then pushed the door open peeking inside. She would just leave the tray for them to see, if they were still asleep.

"Hey, mom" Wyatt whispered as he saw Piper tip toe her way in.

"Sorry, honey. I didn't mean to wake you. I just thought you might like something to eat" she put the tray on the bed for him. Sam was still curled up on the other side of the bed facing him. "Had a rough night, huh?" she kept whispering, caressing her little boy's hair.

"She's still in pre-labor, so we got to catch some shut eye between contractions" Wyatt said rubbing his eyes. Sam woke slowly up looking utterly exhausted. "Morning" Wyatt put the tray farther away and bent to kiss her.

"You two need all your strength, so eat up" Piper advised still in somewhat of a whisper even when both were awake now.

"I can't" whimpered Sam.

"Need to eat something, babe" He offered a piece of toast but she barely bit the tip of it, too tired even to chew.

"Maybe some Jell-O? I made some last night" Sam managed a smile, her eyes filled with gratitude towards Piper who patted her feet on her way down to get her some.

"I'm so tired" Sam teared up now they were alone in the room again.

"I know. It'll be over soon and we'll hold our little boy" Sam smiled through her tears and whimpered some more as a new contraction hit her. "It's OK. Breathe through it. I'm right here" he held her hand which she squeezed till her knuckles were turning white, trembling.

"I need to pee" Sam said sobbing. Wyatt helped her slowly out of bed and held her as she walked baby steps to the bathroom. Her whole body aching by now. It had been a tough night indeed. He held on to her as she used the toilet and as she was finishing wiping her water broke sending water all around her feet. Wyatt kept his grip on her making sure she wouldn't slip on the wet floor as he led her back in the room.

"OK. It's alright. Let's change your clothes and we'll head for the hospital, ok? Everything's gonna be alright" he kissed the top of her head as he helped her sit back on the bed where she kept weeping silently. As he was getting her the purple birthing dress she had picked out, she had another contraction and reached for his hand. He saw her and ran back to her side tossing the dress on the bed to her side. "I'm here. I'm here. Breathe, baby" he was on his knees breathing alongside her as she held both his hands in hers, foreheads together.

"I can make… is it time?" asked Piper as she came into the room and saw them. She put the plate of Jell-O on the bed and helped Wyatt getting Sam dressed while he put on some pants. "Do you have the bag ready?" Wyatt nodded carrying an overly filled bag, also purple. "Had to be purple huh?" Piper teased Sam as she helped her walk out the room and down the stairs. Sam laughed among more whimpering. Piper kissed the side of her head as she took step by step.

"All set!" shouted Wyatt running back from the car to get her.

"You'll do great, mommy" Chris said encouragingly kissing her cheek before she stepped out the house. Leo would be driving them, so Wyatt could keep coaching Sam on their way to the hospital and to avoid him driving this nervous. After everything they'd gone through this year, Kai was a more than welcome blessing… considering how he'd been conceived in the first place.
