Once they got there, doctors and nurses took really good care of them. They were put in a private room as requested. Chris was in charge of orbing Dr. Lockhart to them who would tell them how she had flown in the night before just to keep up with appearances; Leo would get Piper and they would go to the hospital together as soon as Phoebe arrived to look after their grandchildren. Things were running smoothly, so there was no real need for orbing around like crazy, other than bringing the doctor into town.

"How you doing?" Wyatt asked as Sam kept grimacing.

"Don't make me punch you in the face" she laughed between steady breaths making a fist, bent over the bed, while Wyatt massaged her back.

"Alright. If it makes you feel any better, you can punch me right in the face" Wyatt joked putting his head on the bed next to her fist, kissing it repeatedly. She opened her hand and caressed his face as another contraction made her grasp the sheet instead, starting to whimper again. "OK. It's OK. Breathe, babe" she stretched her hand out to him again and she squeezed. She was trembling and sweating all over now. Her strength was waning and the contractions were getting closer and closer.

"How're we doing?" asked Dr. Lockhart entering the room after a couple hours. "Let's do a pelvic so we can see how we're moving along" she said helping Wyatt to put Sam on the bed. "That's right. Just relax. Don't you worry about a thing now"

"I think I'm maxed out at the moment" Sam chuckled through trembling lips. The pain was becoming too much by now. None of her other children had taken this long to be born.

"Jokes. That's a good sign" said Dr. Lockhart as she started her exam. "We're about half way there. Have you decided on an epidural? Mind you, it will raise your sugar levels because of your diabetes, so it's really up to you"

"I'll do it without" said Sam through trembling words.

"You sure?" asked Wyatt still holding her hand. She nodded and bent over in pain as another contraction hit.

"OK then. In that case, I would like to give you a small dose of Oxytocin to speed things along. It might affect your sugar levels as well which is why I wanna keep it a small dose. You'll be closely monitored, ok? So don't worry, I'll be at your back and call in case anything comes up" she reassured her. Having talked about these things for months with her father, Samuel, whom she had been dating for a while now, Dr. Lockhart was sure she was helping deliver nothing short of an angel and she was determined to rise to the occasion.

She left the room to get the drugs, coming back after a few to inject it into her IV. The doctor also asked Wyatt to get her to squat down which just sounded right down cruel, but knew she was right. The drugs wouldn't do any good, if she didn't manage to dilate a little more and the monitors she was hooked to didn't allow her to move far from the bed to walk around. Sam had tears in her eyes when Wyatt helped her stand. He placed his arms underneath her arm pits and helped her up and down to lightly squat like a weepy Raggety Ann.

"You know what this reminds me off?" he said kissing her forehead as he bent down for another squat. Her tears silent, soaking her face fresh. "Remember when Julian was training in the potty and he wouldn't sit on a hole" he chuckled. "I had to hold onto him so he knew he was safe and he wouldn't fall in" Sam grinned, her cheeks moist. "I got you" he kissed her forehead again.

Luckily, it didn't take long before the Raggedy Ann squats and the oxytocin came to effect and a couple hours later, she was all set in the delivery room. By then, Chris, Bianca, Piper and Leo were outside in the waiting room. Phoebe and Coop stayed with the kids and everybody else took care of the rest.

Just before Sam went into the delivery room, she asked Wyatt to ask about the kids. Wyatt didn't wanna leave her side, but she was adamant about it. Dr. Lockhart would get her prepped while he went ahead and ask, it was the only way she would cooperate, so he reluctantly agreed.

"Phoebe and Coop arrived before we headed out. They're fine" said Piper.

"I know. I know, but I… had to ask" he glanced back.

"She's nervous. She's allowed" she went on. "Go reassure her they're absolutely fine"

"How's she doing though?" asked Chris.

"She's miserable" he chuckled, "but they're moving her to the delivery room as we speak so we're getting there" he patted his brother on the shoulder.

"How are you?" Chris saw the noticeable bags under his brother's eyes.

"I'm good. I gotta go" Wyatt answered automatically as he started to walk away, going to the delivery room. Chris still couldn't fully understand how he had done this twice and still get every bit as frightened for them. He turned to Bianca who gave him a comforting smile. He understood just a tiny bit more right then.

IN THE DELIVERY ROOM…

"OK. You're almost holding your beautiful baby. Now, I need you to push down hard, OK? I'm gonna try and help you do this in as little pushes as we can, OK?" Sam breathed through the doctor's instructions dreading every second to come; exhausted, but willing to give it all she had to get this over with and get their beautiful son safely in their arms. "OK. Go. Push" Sam did as she was told, her hand trembled as she held onto Wyatt's hand. He held her back forward as she pushed away.

Little Kai, even after prenatal vitamins remained small for his age, so delivering him didn't take too long once she started pushing.

"Here he is!" said Dr. Lockhart with a screaming baby between her hands. The nurses took him away to clean and then he was brought back immediately. They put him in Wyatt's arms and he put it in Sam's who still panted.

"Get me two units in here!" shouted Dr. Lockhart, distracting Wyatt from his wife and son. He could see a pool of blood starting to form underneath her.

"Sam?" he called her name as she began to close her eyes and her arms fell away from her son. Wyatt held on to Kai as people worked on her. She had a satisfied smile on her face as she drifted away, alarms going off and people running around the room.

"Hey" said Wyatt running to kiss her, after quickly putting Kai down. "Can you hear me?" Sam made a faint attempt of a nod. Wyatt pressed his forehead to hers, thanking the heavens at least she was conscious, however barely.

"Kai…" she whispered through chopped lips. Her eyes trying to scan the room, getting nothing but blurry visions all around.

"He's fine" He nodded to his side where his plastic portable newborn bed was stationed. "Neither of us has left your side" Sam held his hand but unlike before she barely showed any strength in her grip. "I'll get the doctor" Wyatt said walking away, his relief drenched in concern all of a sudden.

Wyatt called out a nurse who called Dr. Lockhart in turn. He ran back and sat on the bed beside her, tightening his grip on her hand, caressing her face. Panic was starting to set uncomfortably in his chest again. Her breathing was a little shallow, so he reached for the oxygen cannula just above the bed and held it to her nostrils.

"You're awake. Feeling any better?" she went straight to her, stethoscope in hand. She stared at Wyatt who watched her every move. "We'll need her oxytocin levels to go fully back to normal before her heart rate comes back to normal rhythm" she checked her bandages were firmly tight round her abdomen and then checked her monitor. "I wanna start her on some iron supplements to make up for the blood loss, but she's doing OK" she told Wyatt who wouldn't let go of her hand.

"Thank you"

"My pleasure" she walked out again. He lied next to her as she closed her eyes, staring from her face to his son next to them.

They remained in the hospital for another 36hrs before they were both discharged. After which Wyatt himself orbed the doctor back to Samuel's, with a nice video of Sam and the baby arriving home safe and sound.

The family was well aware they were home, but gave them some space to settle in; and to their discontent, Wyatt and Sam's kids spent yet another night at grandma and grandpa's. They loved being there but missed mom and dad terribly.

The room next to the nursery had been stacked with boxes till a couple months ago, when it became officially Julian and Meghan's room. Angie would sleep in their current room with little Kai who was in a basinet by his parents' bed for the moment.

As days went by, Wyatt was increasingly concerned about Sam's condition. She should be getting her strength back by now, and she was still feeling dizzy and slept most of the day. She would wake up, help with the kids and then fall exhausted to sleep. It got to the point where you could see it reflected in her face; normally rosy and full of energy, now pale and sunken.

As Kai turned a month old, they went for a checkup with Dr. Lockhart who asked to do some bloodwork on her while they were at it.

"Got your results" said Dr. Lockhart after a little less than two hours.

"Boy, that was fast"

"It's all in who you know in the lab"

"I should remember that"

"Umh… Sam's blood tells me she's still a little anemic, very likely from the blood loss. So, I wanna do an iron injection and change your iron supplements for the added Vitamin C ones, if that's alright with everybody"

"Of course" Wyatt answered immediately. "Still, it was four weeks ago, you sure everything else is fine?"

"Are you eating well?" asked her father Samuel who didn't miss the opportunity to see his daughter and grandchild. He checked on her himself the moment he laid eyes on her.

"Yes"

"Sam… you've been too tired to have a decent meal these days"

"I'm alright"

"You're clearly not"

"He's right, Sam. Maybe we can toss in some vitamins to get her appetite back?" suggested her father.

"How about some protein shakes? Those might sound a bit more appetizing than a bunch of pills" Dr. Lockhart intervened.

"Thank you" Sam smiled gratefully at her.

"It might take her a while to bounce back but she'll get there" she patted Samuel's arm. "No skipping meals though" she turned to Wyatt and Sam.

"You heard the doctors" said Wyatt kissing the top of her head.

During the next couple months, Sam regained her usual spirits little by little. It wasn't easy to get to full strength when tending to four kids, not to mention breastfeeding one of them. However, she was every bit as committed as she was before the birth, to be a good wife and mother for them all, to the point she often had to take a moment to sit down and catch her breath. Wyatt constantly told her to take it easy and as she increasingly politely ignored him and kept going, Chris decided to talk Bianca into distracting Sam on some evenings, asking her stuff about her family so she would stay seated for more than a couple minutes at a time, while Chris helped his brother with the kids. Bianca would see him blowing raspberries at the children and couldn't help but smile, zooming in and out Sam's conversation. She caught her a couple times but didn't mind. She would simply smile widely at her and pretend like she hadn't been interrupted.

"Everything set with the lease?" asked Phoebe during lunch with her sisters.

"Yeah, signed a couple days ago" Piper took a sip of her lemonade.

"Can't believe you're selling P3" said Paige crossing her arms and staring at Piper.

"Not selling. Not really, I mean… I'll co-own it. Besides it stays in the family" Sam had used up most of her inheritance money to buy half of the club from Piper, keeping only her family house in DC and some of the furnishings. Wyatt and her were thrilled to own at least part of the place they'd met.

"Still, that place has been with us through so much" Phoebe felt nostalgia creeping up her back.

"I know, which is why I can't completely let it go, not yet anyway. Let's see how the restaurant goes"

"I'm so excited for you, honey. You've waited for this for a long time" Phoebe reached her hand.

"It was due" Piper chuckled.

"To new beginnings" Paige raised her glass followed by her sisters.

"To new beginnings!" they clanked their glasses together at unison.

"So, are we still on for tonight?"

"Kids are really excited to help" Phoebe smiled proudly. "Bianca and Jackson said we could crash at their place if we need to"

"That's nice of them" remarked Paige. "Are you all getting along?"

"Yeah. We had been going on and off on the weekends. Helped us feel more like a family again"

"Told you Bianca would come through for you guys" Piper smiled at every word, seeing her sister in a much better place.

"Yeah, she really has" she sighed.

"Your kids excited?" Piper turned to her youngest sister.

"Oh, you know my children, they cannot wait to be given more chores" Paige said sarcastically. "But they do love the idea of getting everything ready for Wyatt and Sam's anniversary party" she said earnestly.

"OK. So, we got the papers, so no one busts us out of the place while we're at the party. Paige will be doing all the party shopping. I'll do the food and Phoebe, did you get the DJ from the office party?"

"Yep, I just need to drop by the deposit and he'll be officially booked"

I thought you were gonna give him the deposit yesterday!"

"I know, but I was swamped at work trying to get ahead on my column so I'll be free by Friday" Phoebe smiled trying to erase Piper's annoyed stare.

"Alright, but don't forget to drop it off today. Who asks for cash nowadays anyway?"

"Apparently, him and his crew do. Don't worry they'll be there I promise" Piper grunted and nodded unconvinced.

"How are we gonna get the happy couple there?" asked Paige. "They've hardly left the house lately"

"Chris and Bianca's job is to convince them to go to the movies" explained Piper.

"Are we officially announcing that's gonna be the restaurant site on Friday?" inquired Phoebe.

"Maybe. I wouldn't wanna steal their thunder. It's their anniversary after all"

"Five years, wow. Time does fly" Paige said wide-eyed.

"I know. Leo says it's about time they celebrated an anniversary properly and was already working on the place this morning"

"Well, I agree" said Phoebe. "Which reminds me, who'll stay with the kids?"

"Your daughter will"

"She will? She forgot to mention it, I guess. You think Jackson's ready for the children and their ways?"

"He says he's cool with it, and even if he's not we'll be right across the street so… seems like the best choice"

"He did turn awfully pale when I had to orb out on her birthday party" Piper chuckled.

"Oh, give him a break. He could have done a lot worse"

"We should know" Phoebe drank the last of her lemonade. "Gotta give him some credit"
