History of the Be Sharps.
"1985 was the year that Joe Piscopo left the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live. Rock and roll had become stagnant. 'Achy Breaky Heart' was seven years away; something had to fill the void. That something was barbershop."
-Homer Simpson, quoted on the 10th Anniversary of the Be Sharps.
"The Be Sharps were a Barbershop Quartet Group consisting of Homer , Clancy Wiggum, Seymour Skinner, and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. The group first began performing in 1985. The group were catapulted to national fame. They would often perform at Moe's tavern, but later performed at Springfield State Prison and the First Church of Springfield. That is until they were noticed by their first manager. Nigel Shearer. Among the changes made by Shearer were Apu adopting the Stage name Apu DeBeaumarchais, and the removal of Clancy Wiggum when he took over in 1986. The Be Sharps struggled to find a replacement until they heard Barney Gumble singing. Gumble soon silenced all of the fans angry at Wiggum's removal when they actually heard him sing and they soon fully supported Gumble's inclusion.
The Be Sharps saw a rise to fame. This included their first Album, meet the Be Sharps. This was followed by a second album Bigger than Jesus(Intentionally mocking the Beatles controversy, though it was better received since many understood the irony). The Be Sharps created many famous records including "Goodbye my Coney Island, baby," "baby On Board"(the inspiration of which came from a sign on his car while Lisa was a year old at the time). The group also performed covers such as "Hello my Baby, Hello my Honey". The group performed at the Statue of Liberty Centenary on October 28, 1986. Ronald and Nancy Reagan were there. The group even won a Grammy Award for Outstanding Soul, Spoken Word, or Barbershop Album of the Year.
"The Grammy ceremony was attended by Spinal Tap, Aerosmith, George Harrison and Michael Jackson(of course I didn't talk to him and only found out after the fact that it was actually Leon Kompowsky. He didn't recognize me when we met years later."
-Homer Simpson, quoted on the 10th Anniversary of the B Sharps.
Then Barney began to date a Japanese Conceptual artist named Kokoro. On his own, he produced the conceptual song number 8.

Barney left the group, and the three other members tried to keep going without him but fell in popularity and were forced to do songs for Mr.T, and Col Coop. Soon they all left to other jobs. Though they reunited for a 1992 Dame Edna Special.
"We're getting the Band Back Together".
"We're on a Mission from God."

"BE SHARPS REUNION?
-The Be Sharps reunited for an unexpected rooftop performance at their old spot of Moe's Tavern, now known as Flaming Moe's. George Harrison, who was present for the performance, simply commented when asked about it "It's been done.""
