VENGEANCE
Saitama watched in horror as the earth fell apart in four slices like a perfectly cut apple. Saitama found it odd that the people who built the weapon ensured that it would destroy the world in such a structured fashion.
The slices were inhabitable for the time being, but every second the world remained divided, people were dying by the hundreds of thousands, if not the millions. The edges of these quadrants acted like massive volcanoes spewing megatons of magma onto what was formerly the surface of the earth, filling the air with acidic smoke in the process. Eventually gravity would take over causing the quadrants to collide with each other again or forcing the quadrants to take on a spherical shape. As a more immediate impact of gravity, life giving air and water is leaving the crust, moving as close as possible to the new centre of gravity of the individual quadrants.
Debris that was created by the formation of the fissures rained down on the surface of the planet like meteors, casting its surface in an orange light.
Following the path of the beam that caused this catastrophe, he saw the alien vessel that was responsible. It was a dark purple brick that was a kilometre long and four hundred meters across. On its underside was a plasma cannon that was at least a kilometre long being holstered after use.
It was three thousand kilometres away and looked like it was barely more than a mere speck of dust from where Saitama was.
Saitama was in outer space with no clear way to jump at his target. His mind began to race like never before as he thought of a way of getting onto the ship. He remembered Newton's third law of motion that he learned in secondary school. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. He looked for an object he could apply force on.
He saw a stone that was out of reach and began flailing his hands and legs in a swimming motion in a desperate attempt to reach it, to his surprise, he moved.
Space is a near perfect vacuum, but it still has particles, dust and hydrogen atoms scattered in it. Saitama swung his arms with so much force that he imparted enough kinetic energy into these microscopic particles that he was able to swim slowly in outer space.
He grabbed hold of the rock and threw it away from his destination causing an equal force to propel him in the opposite direction.
When he landed on the ship, he was traveling at 99% the speed of light but the ship was designed to travel faster than light and so it was unharmed, though it was moved slightly by the impact. Saitama punched a hole in the ship's hull and entered.
Wave after wave of warriors, machines and telepaths rushed through the maze of airlocks and tunnels to face him in battle and met their end to one massive blow after another. As he moved through the confusing maze of tunnels and airlocks, he found a round green blob with a toolbelt around his waist. Saitama decided he was one of the engineers of the ship and decided to grab him and keep him around as a tour guide.
"Bring me to the bridge, I must speak with your leader." Saitama ordered the small blob monster.
"You'll never make it upstairs alive; our greatest warriors are on route to eliminate you." The blob replied.
"Upstairs huh, good to know." Saitama replied, he didn't bother listening to anything that was irrelevant.
Saitama jumped up, straight through the metal floor and he brought the engineer with him.
"Where next?" He asked the blob.
Blue puss began oozing all over the monster's green face as an expression that could be read as pure terror appeared on his face.
Saitama faced down two more waves of monsters before finally reaching the bridge. The engineer unfortunately died in one of these battles but with his goal in sight and the fate of humanity at stake, Saitama did not have the time to care.
He kicked down the massive metal doors that barred entrance to the ships bridge.
"Who's in charge here!?" Saitama asked the myriad of creatures present in the room.
"Why do you look for me, Melos of Aravi, weakling?"
A husky feminine voice echoed across the room in reply. " Do you really wish to die so badly?"
Melos was a two-meter-tall navy blue skinned creature with bright spiky yellow hair at the top of her head. Her body shape was feminine with the exception that she lacked the enlarged mammary glands that gave human women their breasts and nipples. Her sharp triangular teeth were arranged in the same manner as those of sharks. A single eye sat on her forehead while there was a second one on her chest. She wore only a belt which kept a one and a half metre spear of pure white light she kept sheathed like a sword. She held a black mace that used a small black hole to consume all adversaries foolish enough to challenge her.
"Now listen here woman, if your civilization fights wars with weapons capable of destroying planets, then they should have the ability to fix them too, right?" Saitama asked.
"Well don't you think that is an incredible leap of faith to assume that we can fix planets because we can destroy them. Fixing and destroying are two entirely different processes." Melos replied, obviously amused by Saitama's assertions.
Saitama didn't like the alien's answer as he thought she was dodging the question. " Well, you came here to invade earth didn't you? I think once the humans die, you plan on repairing the Earth and colonizing it. If not, what is the point of destroying a perfectly good planet for no reason?" Saitama was trying to convince himself that there was a way to fix the planet as he said it.
"I have an exceptionally good reason to destroy this abominable world. Revenge," Saitama could hear the hatred bubbling in her voice.
"Revenge?" In an instant the nature of the situation finally clicked in Saitama's head. The single eye on the woman's head reminded him of an alien he had fought not so long ago.
"My dominator came to this world seeking a challenging fight, when he had stopped issuing commands it had dawned on us that the worst-case scenario had happened. Without the power of Lord Boros, our empire fell into rebellion and became a shamble of its former glo-"
"Shut up! I don't have time for a history lesson! You are the most powerful person on the ship right? If I kill you, your subordinates will have no choice but to obey me." Saitama looked around. The pilots at the bridge looked like normal people, he would have to be careful about how much force he uses to destroy her.
Saitama dashed forward at one percent of the speed of light; it was the fastest speed Saitama could travel without destroying the entire bridge area, but even at this speed the shockwaves had knocked out most of the staff on the bridge. The speed was too slow for the cyclops however, who saw the motion and was able to dodge the attack with ease.
She chuckled,
"Foolish mortal, you're stronger than you look. But you are nowhere near capable of killing me. I have access to the most powerful weapons in the entire galaxy!" she said as she raised her void-mace and prepared to strike.
She raised the weapon and with considerable effort she brought it down on him. Saitama grabbed at the darkness that shrouded the blackhole within and stopped the attack. The floor beneath his feet crumpled and bent from the impact. He crushed the solid ball at the centre of it in his grip, massive amounts of energy trapped within the sphere was released. If Saitama had opened his hand the entire ship would have been destroyed, so he kept it closed and let his hand absorb all the energy.
"How did you…" she was at a loss for words. " Do you know how difficult it is to maintain a black hole that small?"
"We should take this battle outside; the ship won't survive if we fight seriously." Saitama said ignoring her question.
"You don't get to choose your grave HUMAN. DIE!" her hand to unsheathe her second and final weapon.
She whipped out the spear of pure white light. Massive amounts of energy surged out towards Saitama vaporizing almost a quarter of the ship's control room in an instant. He let it hit him and flowed with the torrent of energy that was unleashed in the hopes that Melos will follow him away from the bridge. Melos was not afraid to damage the ship beyond repair, the energy from the weapon vaporized metal and bore a hole through the ship all the way to its exterior. Just as he entered the vacuum of space, he grabbed onto the hull of the ship to stop himself from drifting off to the vast emptiness of the void.
The warrior woman followed him all the way outside, she looked for him expecting him to be floating or flying away from the ship. Saitama took his chance and jumped. The massive ship was shoved aside from the force of Saitama's movement.
The woman attacked him and the maelstrom of fiery energy that was trying to push him back, bombarded Saitama and vaporized a quarter of the ship behind him. Despite the massive amount of energy discharged from the spear, Saitama still made contact, he was moving too fast for even her to see.
"Why are you destroying your own ship?" He asked her. He knew she heard him because in the maelstrom he could see the air discharged from his lungs hit her face. Melos on the other hand was not willing to waste her breath having a conversation in outer space.
They shot through space engulfed in the spears fiery light.
Saitama shattered her head, but it reformed instantly.
What Saitama did not know at the time was that as long as the alien held onto her weapon, even he could not kill her. The spear was made with a piece of creation itself, an infinite source of energy that Melos could conduct through her body to use for regenerating.
Saitama and his adversary raced through space like a shooting star. Melos died again and again but each time she would reform to become stronger. The energy output of the weapon was so consistently powerful that Saitama's tough hero costume was destroyed.
Never in his entire life had Saitama wanted to kill something this badly and yet, it was a task that seemed inexplicably impossible. His heart began to race, he felt a rush of adrenaline within his body that he had never felt in years, but it did not feel good at all, all he felt was anxiety. Saitama felt helpless. In the end of the day, despite all his power, it seemed he was little more than an ant caught in the web of the cosmic spider.
Realizing that he risked being disoriented and lost in space forever he decided to change direction and figure out how to kill the woman closer to the earth itself.
He ripped the spear from her hand and threw it out into deep space in order to change direction.
Melos broke her silence," do you have any idea what that spear was?"
"I don't care," Saitama replied. They shot back towards the ship, but Saitama realized that they were off course. He used the only dead weight in his hands to reposition himself.
He thought if he couldn't kill her maybe he could just throw her away far enough that she won't trouble him anymore.
Being flung off to the side as if she were little more than garbage enraged Melos, she was not someone to be taken so lightly, she was the favourite consort of Lord Boros himself, the Dominator of the Galaxy. His empire had stood firmly for nine hundred and fourteen years and in his recent absence she had been the one to take charge and keep the empire from falling apart completely. She reached for the pale bald man and felt energy erupt from the pores of her body. she had entered her meteoric burst form and was able to fly with complete control in outer space.
As Saitama travelled back to the ship, Melos zipped ahead of him in a flash of pale pink light. Using long range energy bursts, she flung Saitama out into space where he could not move as freely as herself.
She attacked him from behind. With no air to create shockwaves, he had no way to deal with her long-range attacks. He would have to get battered for the rest of eternity it seemed. Even his infinite power has its limits.
