Chapter 4

May Grant sat at her desk as a call came into the center.

"9-1-1," May said. "What's your emergency?"

"May?" a voice whispered. "Is that you?"

"Harry?" May asked.

"I'm at the East Los Angeles Library," Harry whispered. "A man has a gun. He's trying to rob the place."

"Okay," May said. "Stay calm and keep as far away as you can, but stay hidden."

"Okay," Harry whispered.

"Dispatch to Officer," May said.

"Officer to dispatch," Athena's voice came over the system.

"Mom," May said. "We need to stay calm, a man is robbing the East Los Angeles Library."

"Copy that," Athena said.

"And, Mom," May said. "Harry is there."

Sue and Jackson walked over to May.

"I'm dispatching police and the SWAT team," May said.

EAST LOS ANGELES LIBRARY

The LAPD and SWAT team stood outside the library. Athena spoke through a bullhorn.

"We have the place surrounded," Athena said. "Come out with your hands up."

A young man with brown hair walked out with his hands up. A team of officers cuffed him. Athena then entered the library.

"It's okay, everyone," Athena said. "It's safe to come out now."

Harry rushed over to Athena.

"Mom!" Harry cheered. "I did exactly what you said in an emergency! I stayed far enough back and called 9-1-1!"

"I'm so proud of you," Athena said. "However, what have I told you about going places by yourself without telling me?"

Harry nervously gulped.

"We will talk about this later," Athena said. "Your father is on his way to pick you up."

Meanwhile, Vince and the 118 team ran through a burning building trying to put out a fire.

"I really thought at this point, I'd be on the beach," Vince said. "I didn't think I'd be in a burning abandoned warehouse halfway across the country."

"Come on," Bobby said. "The beach is so boring. This is where all the excitement is."

"Yeah," Vince said. "But I really wanted to find a hot guy and have meaningless sex."

"Why is that?" Bobby asked.

"I just got out of a relationship and I just want some excitement," Vince said.

Buck, Chimney, Hen, and Eddie ran over to them.

"Guys!" Buck shouted. "There are oil buckets in the basement! This whole place could blow any minute!"

"Let's clear out!" Bobby shouted.

The team cleared out of the building. As soon as they exited, an explosion occurred and the building collapsed.

"How's that for excitement?" Bobby asked.

"I'd still rather go to the beach," Vince said.
