Now onto the story.

Chapter 13: New Dawn
It was Monday. Entering school that day, Carl Grimes and Mikey Carr were nervous. Standing just inside the lobby, the new boyfriends shared worried looks with each other.
"So um...how do we, go about this, I mean…?" Mikey asked anxiously.
Carl shook his head. "You're asking me, I...I have no idea."
Mikey grimaced at that. "We still don't know how things are going to pan out, what's really gonna happen with Brandon and his friends."
"True, we better be careful." Carl mused. "Let's just act normally, not show we're a couple yet, at least, not overtly."
Mikey sighed but nodded. "I...I guess you're right. I just hate that our first day as a couple in a public place has us still hiding."
"I know, I hate it too, but just until we've tested the waters, you know." Carl reassured him.
Mikey smiled and it looked like the tension left his body, the set of his shoulders relaxed and so, together, without making anything too obvious, Carl and Mikey made their way further into the lobby, ready to face the school. As they did so, Carl thought to himself.
'Dad did say that he'd be here today...that he might want to talk to us.' He mused. 'But what are we gonna...say, do? What do they want?'
Mikey meanwhile was thinking about something a bit more personal. 'My parents don't know yet, I don't know about Carl's...but still, we… Despite finally opening up to each other and getting together, we're still hidden. I don't want to be stuck like that, but the idea of opening up, it's so...terrifying.'
Both boys continued to ponder and be anxious, despite the fact this should have been a happy moment for them.
The answer to at least Carl's thoughts soon got an answer however as at that moment, over the PA they heard an announcement.
"Carl Grimes, Mikey Carr, please report to the Principal's office, immediately."
Both boys shared a look, surprised, but made their way to the office at once. Reaching the office the secretary outside looked up and smiled.
"Ah hello boys, go straight in."
They nodded and, sharing a nervous look, they reached the door and Carl reached out, opening it and they stepped inside.
"Ah, Carl, Mikey, hello." The Principal greeted them. "Come, sit down."
They moved over towards the chairs set in front of the Principal's desk. Both swallowed nervously as they looked around and noticed that it wasn't just them and the Principal. Rick was there, as well as a tall man, more heavyset than Rick with black hair and stubble, black eyes and a strong jaw. It was Shane Walsh, Rick's best friend on the force. There were also two other officers present.
"Um, what, what's this about?" Mikey asked nervously.
Carl had a feeling he already knew however.
Sure enough Shane confirmed it. "We want to talk to you boys about what happened that day. We want to see if you want to actually press charges on Brandon and his friends...I should stress that they are already facing serious repercussions for their actions. But if you're willing to officially press charges and will give us statements...it will make things much stronger."
This made both boys tense, looking at each other, worried.
Seeing this Rick spoke up.
"I understand it's intimidating boys, the idea of openly speaking out about what was done to the two of you." He stated. "But this will help our case against them, it will ensure justice is done, not just for what he did to the two of you, but also to all his other victims for we can be sure you aren't the first that he's tormented."
Both Carl and Mikey shared a look at that. Then, after a slight pause, Carl decided to ask.
"So, we're just to give statements about what we suffered that day?" He paused and then added. "Just that incident in the swimming locker room?"
Shane then spoke up. "Why, have there been other incidents?"
"Nothing as drastic as that, but it's part of his...pattern of behaviour." Carl confirmed.
Shane looked at the other two officers who nodded and Shane turned back to the boys.
"Well, we will take a note of these incidents at least." He confirmed.
So with that the duo readied themselves, ready to reveal what happened and the incidents of Brandon harassing them and the suffering they had endured, in strong hopes at last of justice being done.
