BOOM.

Someone knocked again. The Dursley's scrambled to get themselves ready for who or what was coming through the door. Dudley and Aunt Petunia were cowering behind uncle Vernon who was holding a rifle. It was almost comedic seeing him hold the weapon; if not for whatever is behind the door I'd have laughed.

"Who's there?" He shouted. "I warn you I'm armed!"

SMASH!

The door was hit with such force that it swung off the hinges and fell flat on the floor. I sank further back in the corner we were hiding behind as a giant man entered the shack. He had a huge mane of hair with a beard to match. He had huge dark eyes but they seemed kind.

The man bent down picked up the door and propped it back on its frame. The shack quieted. He looked around the room and said " couldn't make us a cup o' tea, could yeh? It's not been an easy journey..." he made his way to the sofa and took a seat.

No one said anything.

"Oh budge up, yeh great lump" his voice bellowed towards the Dursley's who were cowering behind the rifle. He seemed to have a powerful voice, one that carried across rooms.

"An here's Harry and Hope!" He smiled towards us. "The last time I saw the two of yeh, yeh was only wee babies." He turned to Harry and said " yeh look a lot like yer dad, but you've got yer moms eyes. And little hope yer good mixture of them both." He looked a bit closer at me and continued. " yer mums face but yer dads eyes and hair."

I stood shocked to get any information about our parents let alone who we looked like most. This strange and giant man must have known them. Known them well from the sounds of it.

"I demand you leave at once, sir! You are breaking an entering" Vernon's voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Ah, shut up Dursley, yeh great prune." The gigantic mad said as he yanked the rifle out of Vernons hands and bent it into a pretzelish shape and tossed it in a corner.

"Anyway - Harry, Hope." He turned to face us with a knowing smile on his face. " a very happy birthday to yeh. Got summat fer ya here- I mighta sat in it at some point, but it'll taste all right."

He pulled a slightly squished box out of his black overcoat and handed it to us. Once we opened the box we discovered a large cake with pink frosting and green lettering that said happy birthday Harry and Hope. I couldn't help but that that at some point we must have been really important to this tall man. This cake looked homemade and the writing was handwritten. You don't just make a cake for random kids you don't know.

Harry seemed to be on a similar page. " who are you?" He asked looking up at the man.

" True, I haven't introduced me self. Rubeus Hagrid, keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts." He shook Harry arm and then mine.

" What's a Hogwarts sir?" I asked.

With a sigh and a curious look he turned to the Dursley's and said" what about tha tea then, eh?" The man, Rubeus Hagrid, rubes his hands together. " I'd not say no ter summet stronger if yed've got it, minds."

The man caught sight of the empty grate and crisp packets and snorted. He bent down to he fireplace blocking from our view. The moment he moved back to the couch there was a bright blazing fire. It filed the entire shack with flickering lights and I felt a warmth wash over me. I hadn't realized how cold I had been till I was warmed.

Rubeus Hagrid began to pull out many things from his coat pocket... teapots, a poker, sausages, several chipped mugs, and a bottle of some amber liquid. He began to cook the sausage and make some tea.

I made my was over to the smaller couch to the side on the man tugging Harry with me. He cut up the sausages and made the cups of tea. Dudley scooted a bit closer towards us.

"Don't touch anything he gives you, Dudley!"

The big man chuckled rather darkly. " yer great pudding of a son don' need fatten any more, Dursley, don't worry."

Me and Harry chuckled to ourselves. I decided on this moment that I really like this man. We are our sausages while keeping our eyes on the man. As we finished I asked " did you know our parent well?" While Harry said " I'm sorry, but we still don't really know who you are."

The gigantic man finished his tea and whipped his moth with the back of his hand. "Call me Hagrid, everyone does. And like I told yeh, I'm keeper of keys at Hogwarts- yhe'll know all about Hogwarts o course."

"Um, no." I said.

"er, no. Sorry" Harry stated quickly.

" sorry?" Hagrid barked, turning towards the Dursley's who shrank into the shadows. " it's them who should be sorry! I knew the two of yeh weren't gettin yer letters but I never thought yeh wouldn't even know abou' Hogwarts, fer cryinn out loud! Did neither of yeh ever wonder where yer parents learnt it all?"

At this point me and Harry shared several facial expressions. The both of us were extremely confused.

"All what?" Harry asked.

"Learned what?" I asked.

"Now wait jus one second!" Hagrid kept to his feet and mad his way over to Vernon and Petunia. " thoes kids- that boy- this boy and his sister!- know nothin abou- about NOTHING!?"

Harry looked slightly insulted. I however figured that this must have something to do with that fact that the Dursley's refuse to actually acknowledge our parents death and hate anything abnormal. This man fed fell into the abnormal category.

" I don't think he means us, I think he means them." I whispered to Harry.

" I know somethings" Harry said " I can do maths and stuff. Hope is a wiz as science and reads really well."

He wasn't wrong we were pretty good students. We tended to split our workload with me doing book and science reports and Harry doing all the math. Together we made one really smart person.

Hagrid however was not impressed " about our world, I mean. Your world. My world. Yer parents world."

"What world?" We asked at the same time.

"Dursley" he boomed. Uncle Vernon went very pale. He began whispering very quietly to Petunia.

"But yeh mush know about yeh mum and dad " he said."I mean, they're famous. Ya both are famous."

"What? My- our mum and dad weren't famous, were they?" Harry looked toward me.

"How am I supposed to know.. I know as much as you do!" I looked toward Hagrid who kept repeating." Yeh don know." He looked utterly shocked.

" yeh don't know what yeh are?" He finally said.

Vernon picked that moment to be brave. " stop!" He commanded. "Stop right there, sir! I forbid you to tell the children anything!" He said the word children as if left a nasty taste in his mouth.

This only made Hagrid more angry if seemed "You never told them? Never told them what was in the letter Dumbledor left fer them? I was there! I saw Dumbledore leave it, Dursley! An you've kept it from em all these years?"

" keep what from us?" Harry said eagerly.

" what didn't they tell us?" I questioned.

"STOP! I FORBID YOU!" Yelled uncle Vernon in panic.

Aunt Petunia gasped in horror. "Ah, go boil yer heads, both of yeh;" Hagrid said to them. "Hope... Harry yer wizards."

"A what!" I exclaimed partially horrified but mostly excited.

" well yer a witch, Harry's the wizard. Thumping good ins I expect. Once yeh' ev been trained up a bit especially with a mum and dad like yours. An I reckon it's abou time yeh read your letters." Hagrid elaborated and handed us each a letter.

The letter went on to explain that we have been accepted to a magical school called Hogwarts. The Dumbledore who Hagrid happens to be the head master. The term would begin on September 1st. I have a list of things I need and have to send an owl?

" where do we find an owl?" I asked Hagrid.

" what does it mean, await my owl?" Harry stammered.

"Gallopin Gorgons, that reminded me." Hagrid clapped his hand to his forehead with enough for his to knock over a cart horse. From his coat he pulled out an owl. A real owl! Out of his pocket. He jotted down a note and rolled it up in some parchment. The owl grabbed the note and took off into the storm.

This must me a normal thing for him. Maybe wizards carried owls with them. I knew I was making a face. I felt my eyebrows scrunch together. When I looked at Harry his mouth was hung open.

"Where was I?" Hagrid began

"They are not going;" Vernon growled.

"I'd like to see a great muggle like you stop them." He challenged Vernon.

"Muggle?" My twin and I whispered to each other.

" it's what we call no magic folks like them. It's yer bad luck you grew up in a family o the biggest muggles I ever kid eyes on."

Vernon and Hagrid went on to argue about wether me and Harry would be going to this Hogwarts school. After much debate and Petunia going on a tangent about our mom being a perfect witch ( jealousy was not a good look on her) it was decided that we would go.

Hagrid also explained that our parents were murdered not in a car accident but by a dark wizard. That they fought him. He was defeated by Harry whatever spell he used rebounded and killed him. Our parents were Hero's who died for their children. For us. For me and Harry. I'm seriously angry at Petunia and Vernon for not only keeping such a horrible thing from us but for also telling us that they were irresponsible drunks. In reality they cared so deeply for us that they sacrificed themselves for us.

The thought of some monster of a person breaking in our home and killing our parents was rather frightening. A car crash left no questions remaining. A murder left so much unresolved issues. Maybe I can learn some more at the school. It was as if I could forgive a car crash but not forgive the murdered. I felt a yearning to learn more about the parents I don't remember.

We also learned about Hogwarts which is in fact a magical school. Hagrid described a huge castle, a gigantic and forbidden forest ( tho how forbidden could it be on a school campus) and a stadium to watch quidditch ( which is a sport of some sort). There are four houses Griffindor ( brave and chivalrous) Hufflepuff (kind and loyal) Ravenclaw ( smart and clever) and Slytherin( cunning and ambitious). All good houses but Hagrid told us that Slytherin is known for producing dark wizards. Slytherin is the house that the you-know-who guy was from. Voldemort is the name Hagrid had given us. Our parents had both been Griffindor. I decided then that that's where I want to be. Being in the same house could bring me closer to them.

The best part of the night had to be when Hagrid gave Dudley a pig tail for eating mine and Harry's cake. We promised not to tell anyone about him using magic when he asked. He then gave us his coat to keep warm. We tucked in, Harry was fast asleep but my mind was racing at the possibilities before us and the questions about the past. I eventually fell asleep after looking at the wood roof above me.
