Shock. Shocked at what happened five minutes ago, she found out she was getting an assistant teacher because of all the work she had. She thought she could handle all of it, she really did. But it turns out being a high school teacher who "also has a life to live" needs some help too. Which she completely and utterly disagreed with.
This "she" we're talking about is none other than the 'queen' of the Storybrooke High School in New York, Regina Mills. At 24 Regina is one of Storybrooke's best high school teachers but despite her age she can get many things done and many students in mental shape. Or so she thought. You see, Regina has always been smart since she was a little girl. Her mother has forced her to study and stay at the top of her class until she graduated valedictorian of her class and so on. She always knew how to deal with her stress and the stress that comes from teaching six different classes. But this year was rough on Regina because her father, her favorite person, her savior, her person sadly died. She spent her whole life under the reign of her strict, overbearing, heartless, and insensitive mother but the only light in her life was her father, Henry Mills, but now he's gone. That has led her to be the person she is today, seen as rude or uptight, but she has never really seen compassion except from her father. She doesn't mean to be mean but that's the exterior she's learned to build up over the years. Which brings us to now…"WHAT! NO!" Regina exclaims as she's given horrific news.
The principal of S.B.H.S, Mary Margaret Blanchard, was probably one of Regina's only friends along with Emma Swan, another teacher at S.B.H.S Mary Margaret or 'MM' was principal when her father, Leo Blanchard, sadly passed away due to heart failure which left the whole Blanchard family devastated and left his only daughter to become principal. Now on a rainy Friday afternoon after all the students have went home the short haired woman brought Regina to her office to say "Regina, you've been under a lot of stress and you need to take a break-" which she replied "I'm fine and I don't need a break" while bouncing her leg unconsciously. "You do, and as much as you don't like hearing it you need help so on Monday I have assigned an assistant teacher to help you" right then and there Regina's mouth drops open as she comes back to say with fury "First of all, I AM FINE. Second, any teacher here can't be an assistant to me, they're only a menace and just bother me as I work!" Mary Margaret gave her a small smirk then saying "Well… it's good for you that the teacher assisting you is new and he will be starting on Monday as I said… oh! Also he will be teaching some classes so you will be each other's assistants from time to time" Now Regina was very angry because why is she getting a new assistant and sharing a classroom with him? She has been handling her work well… more or less. "WHAT! NO!" She storms out of the principal's office and while walking back to her classroom she wonders who her new assistant would be like, Mary Margaret said he would start on Monday so what kind of guy will he be. Will he respect her space? Or will he change up everything in a way she will hate? Will she like him? Or will he be an ass? She reached her classroom and looked around all the organized seats, all the modern educational posters hanging on the wall, her desk in the corner with all her stuff and now apparently she's going to need another teacher's desk.
Regina packed up all her work and went home, when she reached her medium sized apartment on 108 Mifflin St. she passed out on her black leather couch and thought of what it would be like if she had help… not just now but throughout her life she's been somewhat doing this on her own. She lays there for a while and then goes to her bedroom to change out of her white blouse and black pencil skirt into a t-shirt and shorts. Regina feels lazy making dinner so she just gets an instant pizza and sits back down to watch some rom-com until she gets tired and goes to bed. She can worry about the new teacher on Monday.
