In Gibbs' Bedroom…
Kate woke up in Gibbs' room. She brushed her teeth and walked down the stairs to the smell of bacon and coffee.
"Mornin'," Gibbs said to Kate. She was wearing silky pajama pants and a tank top.
"Good morning," Kate said back to Gibbs who was wearing jeans and a Marine Corps hoodie.
"Hot damn," Kate thought to herself while looking at Gibbs.
"Do you like bacon and eggs?" Gibbs asked Kate. Kate nodded. Gibbs placed a cup of coffee in front of her.
"Mmm," Kate moaned as she drank the coffee, finding it just the way she liked it. Gibbs then sat a plate of bacon and eggs in front of her and one where he would sit and began eating. Breakfast was silent besides small talk about work. After breakfast, they got ready for work and left for work.
In Gibbs' Truck…
The ride to work was pretty silent besides some talk about the case.
Gibbs broke the silence by saying, "I'm really glad that you're okay."
"Me too," Kate said, staring at Gibbs until he caught her staring.
"What?" Gibbs asked.
"Nothing," Kate said, thanking God they were pulling into a parking space at NCIS.
In the bullpen…
"Look who is coming in together," Tony said, making kissing noises.
"Can it Dinozzo," Kate said as her and Gibbs hand collided into the back of Tony's head at the same time. This made Kate blush a little.
"McGee, what do you got?" Gibbs asked McGee.
"I ran the license plate of the van and it turns out it was stolen. I followed it all the way to an auto shop outside of Alexandria," McGee explained to the team.
"Dinozzo," Gibbs questioned Tony.
"Right uh.. according to the records the van was stolen by a man who works at a pawn shop in Georgetown," Dinozzo stated.
"McGee and Dinozzo go check out the guy in the pawn shop," Gibbs said.
"Yes, boss," McGee and Dinozzo said in unison while grabbing their gear and heading to the elevator.
"Kate, you go down to Abby's lab," Gibbs told Kate.
"What are you going to do?" Kate asked Gibbs.
"Go to the building where Ari was," Gibbs truthfully told Kate.
"I'm going with you then," Kate replied.
"No you're not."
"Yes I am."
"No."
"Yes."
"Kate!" Gibbs interrupted their argument.
"What?" Kate said.
"I-I can't lose you to," Gibbs began, "I just can't alright, so go down to Abby's lab and let me go check out the building."
Kate's face softened thinking of what he meant by "I can't lose you to."
"Okay, I'll go," Kate said before heading for the elevator.
Gibbs left for the building Ari was at.
Pawn Shop in Georgetown…
"What's this guy's name?" Tony asked McGee.
"John Johnson," McGee answered.
"That's a weird name," Tony began, "alright let's check this guy out."
McGee and Tony walked inside the pawn shop where they were greeted by a man in a long sleeve plaid shirt and overalls.
"Howdy youngins," the guy said, "what can I go for ya'll?"
Tony and McGee flashed their badges while saying, "NCIS."
"Naval Criminal Investigative Service," the guy stated to McGee and Tony, "John Johnson."
"Have you ever seen this man?" Tony questioned holding a picture of Ari in autopsy.
"Y- No," John Johnson said, stuttering.
"John, be honest, have you seen this man before," McGee said to John.
"Yes," John said, looking defeated.
"Why didn't you tell us before?" questioned Tony.
"He gave me this antique sculpture and said if I say anything he would kill my dog Gunner," John said while handing over the sculpture.
McGee took the sculpture and Tony said, "Wait, I hear ticking."
Tony stuck his ear closer to the sculpture then said, "A bomb. McGee don't move."
John Johnson started to panic.
"John calm down. People's lives depend on it," Tony said.
At a Building…
Gibbs was looking around for evidence. He found a shell casing.
"Got to get this to Abby," Gibbs thought. Gibbs' phone started to ring.
"Yeah, Gibbs," Gibbs said gruffly into the phone.
"Boss, we got a problem," Tony began, "Ari put a bomb in an antique sculpture. John Johnson handed it to McGee. McGee still has it, but I don't know how much time is left. I called the bomb squad. You should make sure everyone is safe and get down here."
Gibbs snapped his phone shut.
"God dammit," Gibbs muttered, hopping in his car going to check on Kate.
Racing to NCIS Headquarters Gibbs pulled into the parking lot running inside and going into Abby's lab seeing a laughing Kate and Abby.
"Thank God," Gibbs thought.
"What's wrong my silver haired fox?" Abby asked Gibbs.
"When Tony and McGee went to the pawn shop Ari put a bomb inside a sculpture. John Johnson handed it to McGee not knowing a bomb was in there," Gibbs finished.
"Oh Timmy," Abby said, jumping on Gibbs and wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Tony called the bomb squad, but since he can't see the time, we don't know how much time they have left before the bomb goes off," Gibbs stated.
Leaving a shocked Kate and a scared Abby he went to inform Ducky.
Autopsy…
"Hello Jethro," Ducky said.
"Hey Duck, I got something to tell you," Gibbs said, telling Ducky what was going on.
"That's horrible," Ducky said.
"I want you to go stay in Abby's lab with Kate and Abby while I go to the pawn shop," Gibbs told Ducky.
"Alright," Ducky said.
Gibbs made sure Ducky made it to the lab then left for the pawn shop.
Gibbs was in the car when his phone started to ring. He flipped it open and put it up to his ear.
"Agent Gibbs," Ari began, "if you tell me where your little sunshine, Caitlin, is, I will tell you how to disable the bomb."
"No," Gibbs said firmly.
"Then it's settled. You should have opened up to me. Now I feel like I'm on the bottom," Ari said then hung up.
Gibbs taking the hint pulled up by the pawn shop meeting Dinozzo talking to the Bomb Squad chief.
"I know how to disable the bomb," Gibbs stated.
"I'm all ears," said the Bomb Squad chief.
"There is an opening at the bottom of the sculpture. Carefully peel it back and wires should be there," Gibbs told them.
"What wire do we cut?" the Bomb Squad chief asked.
"Yellow," Gibbs stated.
"Are you sure, boss?" Dinozzo questioned.
"I'm sure," Gibbs said.
The Bomb Squad went inside and moved towards McGee.
"I'm going to die, aren't I," McGee asked.
"I'm sorry," John Johnson said.
Gibbs glared at John then said, " No, McGee, you are not going to die."
McGee let himself breathe. The Bomb Squad member peeled back the bottom of the sculpture.
"I see the timer," the Bomb Squad member said, "there is ten seconds left."
"I can't see the yellow wire," the Bomb Squad member said.
'Nine'
"Look harder," Gibbs said, growing frustrated.
'Eight'
"I still can't find it," the Bomb Squad member said.
'Seven'
"Move," the Bomb Squad chief said, moving up close to the bomb.
'Six'
The Bomb Squad chief was still searching for the wire.
'Five'
Still looking.
'Four'
"I found it," stated the Bomb Squad chief.
'Three'
The Bomb squad chief lined up the wire cutters with the wire.
'Two'
The chief cut the wire.
'One'
"I got it," the chief said. Everyone was relieved.
The Bomb Squad cleaned up the remnants of the bomb then left.
"Am I going to be arrested?" John asked Gibbs.
"No," Gibbs said, "you didn't know the bomb was in there."
"Are you alright McGee?" Gibbs asked McGee.
"Yes, boss," McGee replied.
The team left the pawn shop and headed back to NCIS Headquarters.
Abby's lab…
McGee, Dinozzo, and Gibbs walked into the lab.
"Timmy!" Abby said, throwing her arms around Tim's neck.
After everyone made sure McGee was okay, Gibbs gave everyone the rest of the day off making sure everyone stays with someone. Kate grabbed her things and left with Gibbs.
Gibbs Truck…
"Is Tim okay," Kate asked, breaking the silence.
Gibbs turned to look at Kate before looking at the road again and said, "He will be okay. He is staying with Tony."
"You mean forced him to stay with Tony," Kate said with a smirk. Gibbs then smirked.
"Well… what do you want to eat tonight," Gibbs asked.
"Why don't we just make sandwiches? It's been a hectic day," Kate said.
"Okay," Gibbs said, then put a reassuring hand on Kate's knee.
Gibbs and Kate got home and made sandwiches. After eating, Kate was going to ask Gibbs what he was referring to when he said 'I don't want to lose you to,' but forgot and almost fell asleep when Gibbs came into the living room and was sitting on the couch.
"Don't fall asleep, my back can't handle carrying you up the stairs again," Gibbs stated, making color creep on Kate's face.
Kate started up the stairs to the bedroom laying down in Gibbs' bed. Making sure the doors were locked, Gibbs got dressed and lay down on the couch.
