Sasuke and Fugaku were very much alike when it came to the women they love.
"You keep staring at her," one of his teammates commented. The young Uchiha frowned and scoffed looking away.
"I do not."
"Right." He rolled his eyes looking at the raven-haired woman before them.
"I don't blame you though Mikoto is really pretty." Fugaku allowed his eyes to glance at her once more.
"If you say so…"
"Me and Shisui saw you staring at her so stop denying it."
"I did not," Sasuke snarled back pulling the chair roughly to sit at the dining table.
"Right," Itachi commented chuckling at his brother's embarrassment.
"Well Sakura-Chan is a very pretty girl," Mikoto added in putting the plates down. "No one would blame you Sasuke."
"Tch, if you say so…" His father hid a smirk on his face.
"Just give them to her."
"But what if she doesn't like-"
"She will, have I ever lied to you before Fugaku?" The said boy remained silent not really wanting to answer that.
"Okay, forget what I just said. But give her the flowers, I did my research and trust me these are her favourites." Well, it was better than nothing.
Mikoto was currently hanging out with Kushina and a purple-haired woman. He didn't really want to do this in front of them, but if not now then when.
Coughing awkwardly behind to gain their attention, he hid the flowers behind him.
The two women sniggered at the blush that made its way onto their friend.
"Hi Fugaku," she waved bashfully.
"These are for you." Fugaku quickly shoved the flowers towards her, it wasn't his fault that Mikoto was too pretty.
"Hey aren't those…" Kushina was just about to comment before the sneezing fit went off.
"Achoo! Achoo!"
"Uh, I'm really sorry Fugaku but I'm allergic to them." She continued her fit with her eyes starting to water handing the flowers over to Kushina.
"I really am sorry." She replied sincerely before running off to find tissues and probably some medicine.
The two girls looked at him with pity as he stood there in shock.
"It was a sweet gesture though." They shrugged knowing it probably wouldn't do any good.
"Oh oops," the Uchiha glared as his teammate looked over his notes.
"These were the ones NOT to get, sorry. You know how messy my handwriting is." He wanted nothing more than to pulverize him.
Fugaku just so happened to be walking by when he heard his son and the Kyuubi boy talking. They were sixteen now and Sasuke was starting to realise his feelings for Sakura.
About time too.
He was going to leave the boys to it upon hearing the words 'flowers' and 'just go for it bastard.'
Indeed his son had flowers ready to give to Sakura, just not the ones he wanted.
"Sasuke," Fugaku called making him freeze as he walked up to them.
"Father…" he hid the flowers as if that would do anything. The man just sighed.
"Not those ones."
"I'm sorry?"
"Sakura's allergic to them," the two team 7 members blinked and Sasuke turned to glare at Naruto.
"Eh really?" He immediately looked at his notes and bashfully laughed.
"Oh hehe well what do you know? He's right." The two Uchihas sweatdropped.
"You were going to make me give Sakura flowers she was allergic to?" What kind of friend would make a mistake like that?
"Hey in my defence my handwriting is messy, you told me so yourself remember." Of course, Sasuke should have known better.
"Get her gladiolus instead, those are her favourites," Fugaku suggested causing his son to raise an eyebrow.
"How do you know?"
"Your mother got them for her birthday, don't you remember her asking Sakura a month beforehand in advance?" Oh, now that he thought of it… he did remember. His mother did love Sakura.
"Ah, I see…" Sasuke blushed at lack of memory.
"Here you may as well give them to the Hyuga instead."
"Eh, what for?" Naruto asked, of course, the blonde was dense.
Regardless the plan still worked and Sakura bashfully accepted the flowers.
"Thank you Sasuke-Kun, these are my favourites." a blush adorned her cheeks and Sasuke felt his face heat up at her smile.
"Ah, no problem."
Some mistakes were better off not repeating.
"Have you asked her out yet?"
"No."
"Eh? Why not? You two act like a couple already so you may as well."
"It's not that easy…"
"If you don't, someone else will."
"They will?" His teammate smirked.
"Oh yeah, she has tons of admirers." That was all it took.
"Mikoto," well okay so maybe it wasn't that simple.
The young Uchiha ran all over the place looking for Mikoto and was currently out of breath, but now that he did find her he couldn't find the words to say.
"Yes?" She looked at him with hope and curiosity.
"I…would you…" it was her eyes that really caught him off guard and flustered.
Why was she so pretty?
"Will you marry me?" No wait, those aren't the words to say. Sure he thought of it whilst looking at her, but those were inside thoughts only.
"I mean date, I meant to say date. Will you go on a date with me?" Well, this is embarrassing.
Surprisingly though Mikoto laughed already catching on.
"Well, marriage is a step too early. But I'll gladly accept the date."
"Ah." He's relieved that she didn't seem to mind the mess up. Still, everything was smooth sailing from there… sometimes.
"You haven't asked her out yet?" Itachi asked confused as to how his little brother and Sakura weren't an item yet.
"No."
"Aww, but you two are so cute." Mikoto pouted.
"I can't just go up to her and ask. It's not that simple."
"Well if you don't someone else will," his father added in making his eyes narrow.
"They will?"
"Father's right, I heard from the Yamanaka that Sakura is getting extremely popular amongst the male population. You have quite a bit of competition, even young Princes are coming to Konoha just to ask her out."
Sasuke wasted no time on getting up to his feet. Che, so what if they were a Prince.
Did they really think they could come in and sweep her away?
Over his dead body.
"Oh, and Sasuke," Mikoto called before he took a step out the door.
"Try not to ask for her hand in marriage okay." Fugaku spat out the tea he was drinking.
"Why would I do that?" The young Uchiha questioned confused.
"Some men have a habit of blurting the wrong question when nervous, right honey?" She beamed at him innocently.
"Hmph." Itachi only laughed and Sasuke rolled his eyes at his parents' affection.
"Do you think it will go well?"
"We'll have to wait and see," Fugaku replied to his wife, if they were anything like them they'll make it.
"How did it go Sasuke?" Mikoto asked once he stepped inside. Face both happy and annoyed.
"I may have asked for her hand in marriage instead." The two parents remained silent.
"Pfft-" Itachi tried and failed miserably to hold back in his laughter.
"I see," Mikoto commented looking at her husband as if to say this is all your fault.
"But I did ask her out on a date and she said yes."
"Oh well that's great-"
"Except her father also heard me asking for her hand in marriage and is pissed."
"…"
"…"
"You really are my son aren't you?" Okay, so it could have gone a little better.
