Chapter 9: Taking the Edge Off
If Akaashi learned anything that week, it was that Bokuto texted. A LOT. Like a hundred times a day. Akaashi didn't mind, and actually thought it was pretty amusing. Some of the texts were expected, "I miss you" "How is your day going?" but then others were totally random. For example:
B: kaashi, i saw a little dog and it had shaggy black hair and it reminded me of you it was so pretty and then i cried cause i miss you so much :(((((((
or
B: today i walked past 12th street and i got sad because i remember you wearing my shirt and i want to see you in it again
or
B: i saw a little boy today and he had black hair and blue eyes and i thought he looked like a little akaashi and i never asked you if you liked kids so do you?
or
B: i saw a woman on the train with a blue shirt and now i miss your eyes
Akaashi actually felt a little sappy every time he got a text from Bokuto. He loved that his boyfriend thought of him so much, and that he wanted to share everything about his day. He often knew what Bokuto ate for breakfast, what his schedule was for the day, and who on the team was playing well or not well on any given day. He knew what Bokuto was wearing most of the time, and occasionally helped him decide on an outfit. He knew when his lover woke up in the morning, when he was bored on the train home and frequently when he was hungry. It was all just too cute.
Though Akaashi did have work and meetings and such, he always told Bokuto when he would not be able to answer a text for a while to make sure his boyfriend didn't get upset. And then he always enjoyed taking out his phone after a boring meeting to see what the ace was up to. And yes, he was usually smiling. His favorite texts were the short and sweet ones:
B: i was thinking about you
B: i love you 3
B: i miiiiiiisssssss you :(((((
B: only 4 more days
B: only 3 more days
Akaashi wasn't nearly so expressive over texts but he tried for his boyfriend's sake. He much preferred talking or facetiming, in the evenings after work when he could relax. Sometimes they stayed on the line for hours as they went about their business of eating and washing dishes and doing laundry. Emotionally, they were connected while away, and that helped ease the sting of the separation.
However, neither was happy about the lack of physical connection. They each craved each other's touch. It was Wednesday when Akaashi admitted he felt about to burst with sexual frustration, and he still had two days to go. This was not good.
He facetimed Bokuto that evening, since there was no volleyball match. He was laying in his bed listening to his boyfriend talk about anything and everything and watching his face as he spoke. His mind must have wandered to thinking about last weekend because at one point, Bokuto stopped and said with a scolding tone, "Kaashi, I know that look."
Akaashi was startled to be caught daydreaming and blushed enough for Bokuto to notice.
"Don't be embarrassed baby. I miss you too," Bokuto said sweetly.
Akaashi managed a weak half-smile, "I didn't think it would be this hard. I … I miss touching you."
Bokuto's eyes flared with desire, "Fuck, Keiji, you're going to get me hard."
"I'm sorry, Bokuto-san," he apologized. Neither spoke for a moment, but both were thinking the same thing, remembering the last weekend, the touching, the kisses, the hot sex, the shower. Akaashi was feeling particularly uncomfortable and knew he needed to take care of his little problem pretty soon, but he didn't want to tell Bokuto. But then …
Bokuto was looking at him, his gold eyes close and large through his screen. "Keiji, what would you want me to do if I was there?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
Akaashi inhaled a sharp breath as the suggestiveness of the question made his dick twitch. For a moment he couldn't speak as he considered doing what his lover was implying. But after a few heartbeats he decided, what the hell. They still had two whole days left.
Akaashi closed his eyes to help him visualize the scenario. "First, you'd take off my shirt and touch me all over my chest. I love that."

They both collapsed in their respective beds feeling strangely close and connected despite being 500 kilometers from each other.
"Damn, baby. I love you," said Bokuto gently.
"I love you too. Shit. What you do to me."
Bokuto chuckled again. "I didn't technically do anything to you."
"Shut up," said Akaashi, but he was smiling and feeling satisfied and content. "How much longer?"
"Two days."
