The neighbors call the police. Red and blue lights are flashing through the windows as Mulan holds a bag of frozen peas to her face.
Shan's on the floor in cuffs.
The finger marks are still on her neck and the black eye will last for a few days. There's a hole in the wall Shan threw her against.
The police are asking her how she wants him charged.
'Battery,' says Mulan. It'll destroy Shan's career.
He's folded into the cruiser and taken away.
The police take her statement, they take some photos, then they leave.
The fridge has wrecked the piano and there's blood all over the floor, but Mulan doesn't feel numb anymore.
