26. Habitat

'What's this?' asks Mulan. She's dressed in jeans and a loose knit sweater. Her hair is still wet from the shower, and she smells like soap. She's smiling as she sits at the breakfast bar. 'Did you make me breakfast?'

'It's just toast.' There's a blush on Shang's cheeks as he fights the desire to foxhole.

'Uhuh.' Mulan looks at the masterpiece on her plate. She snaps a photo of the smashed avocado with bacon, tomatoes, and mayo. 'My toast doesn't look anything like your toast.'

She sips her coffee and sighs. 'Seriously, how are you not married?'

'I haven't dated since high school.'

Shang decides he should just suture his lips together and be done with it.
