59. Comfort

The police brush aside the threats in the letter. They say Mulan's reading into things and making mountains out of molehills. The stress is eating at her so she buries herself in work and takes as many shifts as she can.

There are a few nights where she's so exhausted, she doesn't do anything other than cry in Shang's arms.

As the day grows closer to Shan's release date, Mulan thinks she's losing her mind.

Then the day comes, and Shan doesn't turn up at the hospital or at her house and there's no more letters. But it doesn't ease the ball of nerves in her stomach screaming that something is going to go wrong.
