Shang stays at the hospital for a week before Tasunka drives him home. There's nothing anyone can do, and Shang needs to sleep. He's useless to everyone if he keeps watch over Mulan's bed like a gargoyle.

They pick up burgers on the way, and Shang manages a few bites before the nausea hits again.

Tasunka follows him to the bathroom, holding his long hair out of his face as he vomits.

'Is there anything you think you could eat?' asks the oncologist.

Shang shakes his head as he slumps against the wall.

'What if she doesn't wake up?'
