79. Unexpected

There's blood slowly spreading over Mulan's silk blouse, and she's looking at Shan Yu with those eyes. Those angry eyes that are so full of passion.

Shan had wasted six years on her. She didn't need to rub it in his face that she was happily married to someone else so soon. She'd brought it on herself.

There's a sickening sound as the baton whacks upside Shan's head, and, despite the makeshift knife sticking out of her stomach, Mulan is bound to the Hippocratic Oath. She's rushes around the table to check on Shan.

He isn't breathing and he doesn't have a pulse. When Mulan moves to check the wound at the back of his neck, she determines that the hyoid bone is broken.

'You didn't need to hit him that hard,' she says to the guard. 'He's dead.'
